EVO Triangle 1st Feb with Jamie

I would have popped down if I had gotten up earlier... oh well... I would have said it was a good thing as I got a speeding ticket last time but I may have got one anyway this morning

Might need to have a listen at the Feb meet
  9. Tareim - 15ml is plenty. Mark - I was talking about the G1 on the front. Only time I get water on the rear window is when the car is stopped and it rains, when driving the window is bone dry. Have been tempted to use G5 on the front for the lower speed needed for it to roll off and because it's a lot quicker to apply.
  10. Probably skimped a bit on the waiting times but there isn't a lot to the G5 is there? Clean with G4, make sure it's dry and then put the G5 on and lightly buff until its clear. Re-applied G1 on the front and G5 on sides/rear just over a year after first doing it. I wouldn't say it stopped working as it was still beading but it wasn't flowing off anywhere near as much as a freshly applied coat.
  11. Got it on my rear window as well, any water on the back usually just rolls off when I set off. I don't think I'm applying it the best though as it doesn't last as long as it's supposed to...

    If I get another GT86....

Do they not emit a signal to phone home all the time? There was a programme on TV about the high end cars and their trackers which basically said thieves nowadays just carry signal jammers that plug in to the 12v socket and don't bother about trackers anymore. IMO trackers are like locking your doors/windows when you're out... it'll stop the common thief but won't stop the professional / determined ones

Big Brother ready to get zap happy

My main issue with speed cameras is the complete lack of context. Had to go through the 50mph zone on the M60 on Saturday night... no one else in sight... what's the point? On these cameras... they're slightly better than the sneaky ones behind gantries as they'll be visible from further away. At least they're not putting any more on the back of the solid concrete bridges/gantries...

  20. From the outcome of a random discussion about the difference between road / car laws in the UK and the US, I ended up the UK Gov site for learner drivers and discovered something to which I shall now ask you all (no cheating)! There's a car in front with L plates on, you go past the de-restricted speed limit sign on a dual carriage way, what's the speed limit for the car with the learner plates on?

    Problems with "cold" 2. gear

My experience is the same as Lauren's - 1st to 2nd is fine, 3rd to 2nd is not for the first few mins of driving My opinion is the same as Rob's - who cares? Don't go over 2nd for the first few mins and everyone's happy

    Winter tyres thread

Unless we get a stretch of icy weather I'm thinking I'll stick with the Primacys again. The temperature varies way too much in the UK - it was in double figures a couple days ago! I've got used to how easy the Primacys can start to lose grip in the lower temperatures or when it's wet so it's just a matter of driving to the conditions for me. Makes leaving the car park at work fun as well

    Learner driver question!

I'd never rely on it tbh. Speeding ticket of 43mph when speedo said 44mph put me right off doing that Thing is, I've gone past 2 of these "Your speed is" type signs both at 30 on the dot, one read 30, one read 27 so go figure!
