Bringing an 86 back from the dead

I have a set of HKS Hipermax SP arriving next week. I'm hoping the amount of dampening adjustment makes it tolerable for the road! I believe the only difference between the two, is where the standard level of adjustment is set to out the box. Happy to give you an update once fitted if you like
  2. https://youtu.be/fqf0Os5xoao Thought I'd share this video I stumbled across as I know a lot of you are fond of the TSS so thought it might be of interest. Opinions? Personally, I still can't get over the fact they're pushing over 800hp on an FA20 😅

HKS Time Attack GT86 Tech Talk Video

With unlimited budget I'm sure nothing is impossible. Most competitive teams will do an engine refresh after each round from national level upwards. However that doesn't make it any less impressive in my eyes
  4. Hi Lucas, do you have the 57CR in Gun Blue II in stock also?

    Where Did You Buy?

If buying from Toyota, they also offer a two year extended warranty on used which I got. You might be able to haggle a warranty into the sale price if you're lucky! 😀

Buying a SARD LSR Replica Wing

These get more and more popular! Bought mine second hand off a forum member, the carbon was actually complimented on by a body shop for how good the quality was. Have no issues with build quality. Just make sure you get something to protect the bootlid, I cut some clear 3M tape to fit where the clamps go on the outside and some rubbers to fit on the inside. @Lowe, perhaps you could shed some light on where it originally came from? 😂

    What supercharger? (Maybe turbo)

Believe the HKS supercharger has a design flaw that causes it to 'go pop' as you say so I would stay away! (However I might be confusing this with another so open to being corrected) I'm sure 99% of people on here - myself included - would recommend the Tuning Developments turbo kit. It has been covered extensively on here for good reason, so I won't go into detail on what it consists of. Getting to your goal of ~280bhp it should be perfect. Give Mike a ring and I'm sure he'll be happy to talk you through it, they're top guys, or have a quick search through the forums. Good luck in your search.

    Taillights

None at all, they set the value lower than the real value so it sailed through customs.

    Taillights

If anyone is interested in buying a new set of taillights, just had a great experience with CT Autoparts in Australia and would recommend. Bought some red edition sequential Valentis last Friday, arrived to my door today. That's nearly 10,000 miles in 5 working days. For a very reasonable price too, headlights were £210, shipping was £50, with the current exchange rate. They also have in the new TOMS and Buddy Club V2, as well as the Valenti range, and a load of other styling pieces people might fancy. www.ctautoparts.com.au Please excuse my dirty car, the rain has not been kind

    2017 radio going rate

It'll do the job you're after. Its fine for what it is, but there are much better systems out there for the money and the sound quality will never be great. if you want to upgrade in the future it will then be a waste of money. Provided your source that it's a straight swap is reliable, if you can find one for sale then go for it. I know what you mean about the looks thing.

    Fensport stage 5 AVO Turbo

In the nicest possible way, if you're dead set on getting the best acceleration, then perhaps you should consider other cars? Because that isn't what the GT86 is about. It's going to cost you a lot more in the long run to tune a GT86 to get to high horse power and compete with other cars' straight line speed for the same cost. Take one for a test drive down some fast B roads and you'll see what I mean Edit: Ignore most of that I got ahead of myself replying and didn't read the original post properly. Apologies. However, going straight into massive horsepower from forced induction you should seriously consider supporting mods. Think of brakes, for example. If you double the power, are you comfortable on stock brakes? I know I wouldn't be.

    Warrenty and modications

Was also told the same when I took out an extended warranty when purchasing used from local Toyota dealer a few months back. Modifications shouldn't affect the validity of your warranty as long as the modified part doesn't have an effect on the part you are claiming for. As @Dave86 has said, can't see how it could be argued that the exhaust would cause a gearbox issue. Maybe try a different dealership?

    UEL Manifold rest stock

Don't quote me on this but as far as I know most manifolds will be made to fit onto the stock overpipe. The only ones I can imagine that might not would be ones from a full system purchased individually. Hopefully someone can confirm this thought? Bear in mind with their NA package it is a complete package to get the most out of a GT86 without taking the step to forced induction. Take into account the ecutek license (which you will need to remap a GT86 as far as I know), the man hours going into the dyno runs and the labour itself and I think it's a pretty reasonable price. However it is a lot of money, which is why I haven't taken the plunge yet, especially if you just want a manifold and remap. Also something to think about, if you're after the most gains from the manifold and remap, the majority believe the EL manifold serves best. But who doesn't love a scooby burble 🤣 Good luck! Enjoy your new car when you pick it up!

    UEL Manifold rest stock

As long as you leave the second cat in you'll be fine for an MOT. If you're thinking about headers and remap, have a look at Tuning Developments NA package. http://www.tuningdevelopments.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2567 Can't speak from personal experience but it's definitely on my to-do list. Recommended by pretty much everyone on this forum.

    Spoiler Advice!

Wondering if anyone has any experience with the abflug style spoilers? Got any pictures? Does it cover existing holes, is there a legit supplier in the UK or is the eBay copy the best I'm gonna find? The abflug and seidonworks spoilers are the ones I like the look of the most (seidonworks a bit ott for the look I'm trying to go for however), are there any other alternatives I'm missing? TRD style spoilers just seem a bit bland and I think I'm more keen on the ducktail style but some big wangs do take my fancy Any help appreciated
