    Valve failure 2014 GT86

Sorry to hear and see. As people are suggesting above, first speak to Toyota. If it does not work out , on the FB page , someone was selling a 2017 engine with less than 10K miles for £4K , which is an option to consider. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

tweedbean's Porsche RS Green BRZ Build

I have had real bad experience with bright colours that idiots tend to key them. Since mine is a daily, I wouldn't venture too far into exclusive colours but that's my use case. Waiting for the reveal mate. You are building it up Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

I believe there is a bypass valve to not run boost when cruising or low load conditions which explains the economy. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Exactly that. MOT is a lot simpler and easier than Type approval which is stringent. Also the car just about passes MOT with 1 cat ,not from cold but when glowing hot. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Abbey do ace Yes. Give or take with ex rate against dollar , a supply only charge will be 1500 and Ace is EL only. You could ask Rogue to ship you a UEL I believe and its cheaper and get Mark at Abbey to fit and tune it for you . Savings all round and potential for boxer burble. One of the reasons was heat that I went back to standard and for sure there is a reason for all the heat shielding engineering in the OE otherwise they would've saved some money not putting it. The other more important one was emissions and hassle free MOT. Rogue, sensibly priced (or Ace, if you want the best) are your options which do not have the up and over. You will need to find someone to ceramic coat here unless you get it from FT86speedfactory who can do it and send to you , I believe. I have the ECUTEK pro if you want to remote map and can get Matt to send you new map. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Why do you say no Boxer? Reliable and low COG. Toyota have a share in Subaru and also importing engines from Germany / Austria for a Japan manufactured car and in a Subaru factory makes no sense and will not happen. The partnership is based on Toyota Subaru and not BMW. So its unlikely. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Thank you. So then 240 bhp from a 2.4L minus 10 for PPF, Net 230 BHP.. [emoji1] I wish tuning was that simple against all the constraints. We now need to know the facts , than speculate on the back of rubbish articles from not trusted auto journalism [emoji849] Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

A bit of a tangent but golf with their GTi had to put a GPF Gasoline Particulate Filter as they desperately wanted to avoid hybrid power train and keep it purist fossil fuel. Am sure a GPF will do the trick, if other brands have why not them [emoji848] Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

You might be right on emissins but with that specific output 100 BHP/L would've even possible with the dual injection D4S toyota tech. Hence the same 2L on the impreza has about 160 bhp. I will expect if toyota D4S is fitted to the 2.4L ascent engine , we must be able to get to 240 and more torque than pure DI. Emissions , whether its 174g/km that we have now or a bit more, toyota can easily manage the overall fleet CO2 with their hybrid tech and hence they are not worried about carrying the Supra and GT86, when other manufacturers are slowing down or stopping their sports car line up in Europe.. Case in point Mazda. Not easy to get the MX5.. Supply restricted. Am not sure how Subaru will cope with EU emissions unless they join hands with Toyota. A bit like Tesla and Fiat deal where its them together for joint fleet. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

Really good choice of colour Sam . I love Red. If you get a chance, have a look at 3M Satin Smouldering Red. It has a nice Matt finish. In terms of costs, how much are Monster charging you? and are they doing door shuts to keep the nice look flowing?

    58,000 miles / 4 year service

It is very unlikely you will need to warranty claim is the way to look at it. Very few things go wrong on this platform. Good luck Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    58,000 miles / 4 year service

The question you ask on Subaru service prices being higher than Toyota are simple. Volume. Toyota deal with a lot more cars than Subaru and have a very optimised supply chain and workforce. The benefits of scale. Only Subaru can update your online service record not toyota as it is not jointly shared like the platform is. For warranty claims, as long as the service has been done to the time (1 yr or 10K miles , what ever is earlier) and OE quality parts, theoretically you can get it done anywhere and consumer laws will protect your warranty. You seem to be a high mileage driver so unless you have had 4 services and this is your fifth in 4 yrs , you might have missed one of your warranty conditions. Spark plug change service, aka year 6 service is £600 at toyota , so it is not included in your £395 service. Home pick up and drop is a great serviceat this time of pandemic. Take the offer up and treat this + diff oil as the difference in price. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Good luck with saving up. The GT will not disappoint or cost much to maintain. You might be lucky if you buy from a forum member that some of your mods might come with the car. Manifold, tune and catback exhaust are common mods. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Covid lockdown battery issues

With this thread on and the horror stories, I feared and went to try mine and luckily it started with no hesitation after 3 weeks of being untouched. The battery I have is an OE Panasonic one with 62Ah and 620 CCA. It is the old non sealed battery with top up covers. So tomorrow morning I might take the battery out and check the fluid levels in each cell and top up with distilled water, if necessary. This seems like going back a few years but if we have time , why not. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
