How much does a GT86 cost to maintain?

Firstly I believe his is an automatic which is geared differently and more tuned to economy and has lower CO2 from factory. Secondly if you do a lot of short city / town trips, MPG falls quickly to 20s. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Post your GT86 / BRZ pic of day!

Really like the air scoop on the bonnet. Is there a metal one available in similar design. Do you know? Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    INTEC Tail lights wanted

Same brand. They have rebranded themselves to remove the 86 reference as they have started selling Supra parts as well. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Clutch oil

Always check the user manual first. And the above answers are right. I would not recommend you to use old fluid as its hygroscopic and has a limited shelf life , once opened. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    GR86 Finally Spied

Being a bit factual on forced induction and on new platform, our cars never set the sales charts on fire to warrant big investments. We are lucky that the car survives as a MK 2. On the FI topic, most aftermarket Turbo is decat and have not been able to map to existing dual cata. Even with SC and both cats and a petrol particulate filter , it will struggle to meet Euro 6B. Aftermarket stuff does not meet any emission regs. Not saying its not possible to make it clear emissions but needs investment and in this situaton , I do not think it will get it. 2018 on 86 vs BRZ

Indeed. They are now the same suspension. BRZ tS never came to UK, so the performance pack gt86 is different. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Oil Filter Help

Applying a bit on O ring is needed but priming is hard as the filter inverts. You will need to add a small quantity and leave it vertical for 5 mins for the filter media to absorb before inverting and screwing it on. I will not bother on it to be honest. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Oil Filter Help

This is the subaru filter branded toyota sold by toyota official store. Check out picture 2. Its not the same as Denso filters made for toyota , its a Tokyo riki https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221802540519 Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Oil Filter Help

Subaru filters are unique.Even toyota uses only theirs and they are made by Tokyo Roki and is very highly rated. Since it is an inverted filter, the bypass valve is key and the pressure it opens at is 23 nm. All other filters have a lower bypass , so I would not use HKS. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
  12. Learnt something new about Esso Supreme. The Tesco momentum 99 has 10% ethanol is incorrect. Like you had checked upon esso, a quick check on tesco faq's reveal a max 0f 5% which is what most other brands incl shell have. https://www.tesco.com/help/petrol-stations/ Under UK legislation, large fuel producers have a mandatory obligation to use a certain percentage of fuel from renewable sources. The renewable fuel used in petrol is ethanol, typically produced from sugar or starch crops such as sugar cane and maize. Dependent on location and supplier, UK petrol contains between 0 and 5 percent ethanol (produced in compliance to BS EN 288:2012). Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

I read somewhere that TNGA platform is not suited to RWD and hence it will be the same platform to keep costs low and not try to customize TNGA to fit. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Hi all.

Welcome. There is Charlie's and Ian,s car for sale at the minute, so you have choice. Fensport have a site called boostmy86. Have a look at it to see what boosted options can be , are and how much the cost approximately. Also there is tuning developments who have their own turbo kit. You might decide to buy a stock one and get it turbo'ed , if you don't find the right one. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
  17. Great job and a useful write up for future DIYers. This is the value from the forum and a chance to give back. Interesting to note you had to grind off crank pulley to create space due to manifold. Is your exhaust standard? If yes, Martins previous build had 300 bhp iirc. So a catback could get you 20 more bhp but I will say you are now at the safe end at 280 brake. Enjoy it as is. Wish you miles of smiles. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

Lovely pics Sam. In terms of washing the car, do you need to avoid a pressure wash and not take to a car wash? What is the advise on adding wax/ sealant? Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    MartinT's BRZ

Agree. Its the worst case scenario test and your car never hits the tracks so will not see extreme conditions and you should be safe. Matt / Cosworth himself says that there is room for more but we keep it safe for who we are. It is this over engineering and commitment to R&D that I love about Cosworth and their commitment to stand behind engine warranty with their own tune. If you ever feel like, you are welcome to borrow my Ecutek to datalog and check if you experience knock on your daily drive. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    MartinT's BRZ

Very sensible. Anything north of 300 is a risk worth avoiding. Cosworth suggest 280 to be safe and has been extensively researched by them. Watch this video to know more Martin Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Did you ask Mark about the gains vs an ACE? I love the idea of supporting local British businesses so have preferred the Rogue. Just curious as to what the dyno would say. It clearly gives better results on rogue vs TD Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

Good choice of header Martin and decent increase ( circa 14 nm). I always need to remind myself Abbey has a hub dyno as am used to seeing 300+nm with SCs. A 10% correction will make it 310 on the flywheel. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Aircon regas

I believe the car for certain model years had the expensive R1234YF gas . The rest have the much cheaper R134 gas. That is why the prices fluctuate , outside of dealer margin etc. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    Avoid Inchcape Toyota Sandhurst

+2 for Bulldog Twyford. Only catch is cost , Subaru dealers are not fixed price or as cost efficient as Toyota dealers. Their service is top notch and very personalised, so worth it in the end. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk

    2021 GT86 and BRZ

You had a manual GT86 and now potentially have the auto M2 comp. So you have been in a camp and not worth slating it. All people are saying is driver engagement. An auto does simplify the variables and makes driving easier with focus going to speed , braking, steering etc. The fun with manual is doing all those + Clutch and gear, I.e. engagement F1 cars and hyper cars are totally out of range of 99% of the population if not 99.9% , so no point talking about them or their tech. The future is automatic and electric at that, and no one will deny it but want to delay it. Good luck with your Beemer Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
