I'd be interested to know if anyone post recall has had any issues with air con no longer blowing cold?

Wonder if anyone can confirm whether their own air con was fully regassed as part of the recall?

According to my local dealer they are only paid from Toyota for the amount of gas that comes out originally. How you measure this I have no idea.

Due to the little amount that came out / what they put back in is why mine is no longer cold. Sounds fishy but may be 100%?

Mine was supposedly only regassed last year just before I bought the car and no longer blows cold since having it back from the recall - worked fine before, always kept on 19° auto. Anyone else?

Mine didn't get regassed. It had no gas in it before the recall so they refused to do it for free.

  2. Dacia Duster...

I once got one as a hire car. If you ever want the feeling of being completely disconnected from the road then get one of these.

I never understood what they're actually for. It takes up an entire car park, too big for comfortable city driving, the interior is made of papier mache, and a 3 cylinder engine useless at anything sporty or off road.

Cant figure out why the dome part broke off as that is not really in contact with anything (nut gun or wheel) The broken one is corroded which might have something to do with it.

It's corroded since breaking. It was clean when it first happened I just hadn't got round to taking a pic of it and posting.

When I first looked at it, the top of the nut without the cap was pretty flush with the stud and there was no way I could remove it with hand tools. I suspect that some grit or water/oil got in between the stud and the cap when the tyres were changed. Coupled with the over tightening is what made it pop.

But stock lugnuts are steel, should much better withstand impact tools usage, at least their threads from stripping when impact used on. It's usually aftermarket aluminum ones that are advised to tighten/untighten using hand tools and tools only for quick light tightening/removal. And imho stock lugnuts if they are of closed end and used on stock wheels, should enough clearance to cap to never shear off even if overtightened.

By chance, are your wheels aftermarket (and maybe with deaper lugnut seat bores)?

I'd take extra attention to wherever nots were bolted on. Be it just dealership, or eg. tire shop. If one overtightens till some part breaks, something is off. Be it sloppy overzealous tech air impact trigger-happiness, or different length lugnuts needed, if specific aftermarket wheels need such. With overtightening i may expect that they can strip stud threads aswell at some point.

Everything on my car is stock and oem. The only time I've not used Toyota has been for new tyres which is where I've had issues.

The car did have a previous owner but I checked stud lengths were correct when the first one was stripped and had to get a new one.

Weird to hear overtightening from officials. Official dealerships often don't want to step outside anything stock, and keep at official manufacturer procedures & torque values, exactly to not see any legal action or something breaking/to warranty and such.

To not need overtightening main thing to remember is to clean stud threads before putting nut back, less of usage of misc. anti-seize greases (which btw changes torque nuts need to be tightened AFAIK).

Sorry Church, I should clarify. These were tyre garages and not official Toyota dealerships..

They've been updated to Version 2 now which is different so I doubt you'd find some new ones. However you may get lucky and find some second hand!

Link below for the V2 if you're interested, would recommend CT Autoparts highly.

Thanks for the advice, I thought that would be the case. I'm still not sold on the V2's 🤔 I guess I'll have to hunt around a bit for second hand.

My local dealership (RMB Teesside) has started doing the repair works as I've seen a fellow member discussing it, so i rang up and inquired about booking it in but they have twice fobbed me off saying they will ring me back to book a slot (has anyone in the history of the world had a call back from a dealership?!). All I can do is keep trying i guess because i feel i might be waiting a long time if i leave it for them to contact me!

Had the same issue with my local (Westover Salisbury) rang them twice now.. "oh yeah yeah we'll give you a call back when someone's available to talk to you about it"
