Yes it a 2.0 GR sport looks really nice and goes quite well too. Although I have just mainly been pootling so far was nice to see anything from 40-70mpg

picked up the new Toyota today, really happy so far, just need to get used to all the settings on it

Sadly after owning my 86 for 31/2 years I have now sold it. Was a bit sad to see it head off down the road especially after the 1000’s I had put into the car. Using it as an only car I decided I fancied something a bit more comfortable and was looking for an automatic for city driving.
Only positive really is I’m keeping with Toyota’s and picking up my corolla 2.0 tomorrow. Hopefully in a couple of years the GR86 will drop in price then I can run one as a fun car

I have done this. Was just wondering if there was a demand for the parts

Hi, seriously considering selling up. Would like to sell my car as is as it’s so well sorted however if that doesn’t happen then I may look into part ex’ing.
just wondered if there was a market for 2nd hand turbos, I have the TD kit and would be tempted to have it removed and go back to stock if there was a demand for it and what sort of price would be reasonable to ask? -
Just to add it has a 949 racing steering wheel extension.
also have stock manifold and brakes

I still can't get the Cayman S knockoff look out of my eyes with the GR - I have an unreasonable dislike for those Porsches for some reason I DON'T KNOW WHY.
Sure an LS swap will cost 3-5times what it does to forge an FA20 or swap to an FA24

Not sure about the unmodded examples as the engine is a bit flat stock I’m not sure it’ll be as sort after as some other models

At the same time I know that there are a bazillion aftermarket parts for the GT86 so any modding is more akin to a Miata (at least in terms of variety).
This is what I was thinking too. I've looked into putting a turbo on it, but all in all that would in itself add another 6-7k depending on where you buy from, so that plus around 12-15k for a 60k mile car... Yeah I think I'd rather engine swap at that point.
I guess totally unrelated to the original post, but have any of you done an engine swap on your GT?
P.S If I had another 30k burning a hole in my pocket I'd buy a brand new GT and keep it in the garage for a few years, at the rate that these cars are getting riced and crashed (usually in that order) I recon a low mileage MK1s will be in demand in like 8 years time.
An engine swap is going to cost at least double the £6-7000 to turbo. If you go TD turbo and oil cooler is about £5000 all done.
if your thinking of modding I’d buy 2nd hand and have it all already done. Did list a classified for mine but don’t think I can bring myself to sell it however £15’000-£20’000 you could get a GT already fully sorted

The super res would only fit the TD cat back you couldn’t fit it to the stock back box

When driven aggressively the mpg really drops on these.
Just been using mine for fun and short trips and have averaged about 20mpg. Whereas a short gentle commute gets it to 30 and motorway is 35-40. That’s turbo with a shorter final drive -
2 hours ago, Jay Bamrah said:How many miles / months has it been turboed for
Car was turbo’d about 18months ago then went stage 2 about 6 months back

2017 Toyota GT86 · Coupe · Driven 35,000 miles
Hi, thinking of putting my 86 up for sale. Car is highly modded and has had no expense spared with my goal to build it it into a fast and reliable car which I believe has been achieved.
It’s a 2017 facelift pro model.
Done almost 35’000 and has been my only car for 31/2 years and has been nothing but reliable in all this time.
Mods are
Tuning developments turbo kit, also have their stage 2 parts fitted so can swap between 280bhp and 320bhp, all it needs now is forged conrods and it is good for 400+ bhp
TD full exhaust system
TD oil cooler
Baffled sump
Tein flex A coilovers and rear arms (SPL) from memory
Mtec clutch and gearbox springs + diff mount
Mtec 4.44 final drive
Summit strut brace
As new AP 4pot callipers and 330mm disc
2forge 18x9 wheels
Focal speakers
Probably a few other bits Iv forgotten about, have a pile of receipts totalling 1000’s
Only issues are curb marks on a few wheels and some small chips on the bonnet (have paint to touch these in when I get the time) -

Going out with the good fuel I got about 40mpg and the car felt great. On the way back I got 32 and it just didn't respond as well. Same roads, same speeds. But hey, it was safer right?
Wouldn’t be going junk fuel, as it’d still be super but BP ultimate is only 97ron.
once upping the boost the car is capable of about 450bhp I was going to wind it back to 400bhp. Just wondered if I could hit 400 on 97ron, or would the different fuel make that much difference -
2 hours ago, Kaltorak said:If you're boosting it, you'll still need want the higher ron fuel. It helps with detonation.
Your removing detonation risk by reducing compression ratio, but then you're increasing risk by boosting it.
If you can afford to boost, you can afford 99
Yeah I know that not the cost can get 97 less than a mile from my house whereas the 99 is a 15mile round trip.
I just weren’t sure if it would balance out on the poorer fuel with dropping the compression. Not forged yet, I was just thinking of the future and wasn’t sure what sort of impact it’d have
-
Hi, just after opinions. I know as standard we should use 99ron fuel. Now if you forge the engine and drop the compression is it best to still run on this or would 97 be ok?
as I thought the higher rating was better due to the stock compression ratio, I just wondered what effect putting a slightly lower grade in would effect if lower compression but running more boost

Hi, this isn’t a for sale add. But I am considering putting my car up for sale just wondered what you would think a fair price is? It’s hard to gauge as I know used prices have gone right up and mine has quite a few mods. Car has no expense spared and was built to be quick and reliable it’s my only car and has been my daily since buying 31/2 years ago.
my car is a 2017 facelift in white, 35’000 miles
mods are:
tuning developments turbo, also have stage 2 mods so can switch between 320&280bhp
tein flex a coilovers adjustable arms
oil cooler
baffled sump
mfactory 4.44 final drive fitted
2forge 18x9 wheels
almost new AP callipers and 330mm discs
front strut brace, mtec shifter and clutch springs, focal speakers and probably a few other bits Iv forgotten got a pile of receipts 😢

21 hours ago, Jay Bamrah said:Did you not buy this with the rest of the cat back system?
No as I originally had the res system changed the centre pipe to super res as found it a bit loud now Iv gone turbo Iv changed back so this is spare
-
I’m in Plymouth. I’m off towards Swindon next week if that’s any closer
-
Couldn’t tell Yoj really only drove the car with the stock exhaust for about a week and that was over 3 years ago
-
The turbo quietens it down and gets rid of some of the drone. I’m only using the car for fun now so wanted a bit more noise

That’s interesting I had the same issue. Car was up TD for a couple of weeks and apparently the day before I was to collect it was hit.
Iv now sold my 86 but after speaking to others that had spent big money there like myself it seems a case of you get what you pay for. Like Martin I had the issue of the super res breaking which is obviously a design/welding fault. And another for all of you turbo owners it may be worth checking your mounting bolts and oil feed. I thought I had an air leak but was the manifold bolts working them self loose, and the oil line came loose and spat oil over the turbo and engine which was worrying seeing all the smoke, I also know this happened to another owner too.
that being said though I done a few track days with mine and it never let me down just a few small teething and quality issues which probably comes as part of the gamble when their kit is much cheaper
