For interest: A recent comment from Matt at Cosworth regarding the use of the Cosworth smaller pulley - and I quote: "when developing the kit I had the use of cylinder pressure measurement so this gave a real-time measurement of how much stress the rod and piston was under and the stock pulley was arrived at to give a healthy 10% safety margin from where the theoretical limit of the rod isthe smaller pulley bumps up the cylinder pressure to just below this limit but not beyondto my knowledge those whom are running the smaller pulley have had no issues to date"

This is all very interesting, especially to me as I have the smaller pulley waiting to be fitted. I just have to be brave! Matt said that his map (specific for my car) would happily adjust to the smaller pulley, but that I was using up the safety margin built in and should not take it on track or "dump the clutch" too often in a short space of time. Thanks to Martin for accommodating all this specific chat on his thread.

The B Road Hunting Club are inviting Jap cars to the Bentley Motor Museum site in Sussex this coming Saturday. Hey Jay. Yes it is a pity they stopped making the kit. However, Cosworth provide engineering services throughout the motoring industry and are also working in new technologies, so there is/was a lot going on. Their research when developing the S/C kit for our cars was exhaustive to say the least, so no compromise as they wanted to protect their reputation apart from any other factors. The kits did not sell as well as maybe expected because they were not cheap. But then it is Cosworth, so I for one of the few takers, was quite happy to pay a premium for the reassurance the company name provides. And even though they no longer produce the kit, the senior engineer on the project is still only an email away. The kit comes with a conservative map of around 270bhp, which you can then extend with exhaust and pulley upgrades etc, and individual maps can be created for personal modifications, overseen by the Senior Engineer. I had, I think, 6 maps done during the setting up of my car, which all went back and forward to Cosworth as various exhaust options were tried. Having a safe map was the key factor.

Hello Jay My car passes emissions test legitimately at my Toyota dealership. I have second cat delete pipe, but the OEM exhaust manifold (with primary cat) still in place. I did drive around on the original primacies and alloys for a while, and under most circumstances they were okay, but under hard acceleration from standstill I could easily fishtail with a nasty smell. Since uprating wheels and tyres I have had no traction problems.

Time to get out on the hunt for great coffee again.

Yes it is unusual, and I have no facts other than what I was told. And the pre-reg car I saw before me. Because the dealership ended up with a car that they can't sell as new because the GT86 is no longer part of the Toyota new car range, so I was told by Glen. And because it is an odd situation, I have put Glen's phone number there for anyone interested.

Before supercharging, I was averaging 34 mpg, and since "enjoying" the S/C experience I am averaging 24 mpg, so your results are very similar

Wrong car I know, but I had an Exedy stage 1 fitted to my Impreza ( with a lightened flywheel) and it was a vast improvement over OEM.

Very smooth and great stance. Dark rear lights look ace. Rare colour too! You need to keep it, looks lovely!

Our hybrid for family use. Took a while to get used to the hybrid idea, but it is really not a bad drivers car. Sensitive steering, great roadholding, low COG etc, and sport mode can be great fun. MPG is not as good as you might think, averaging mid 50s mpg. It would not replace the GT though!

Great article in Feb issue of EVO mag! GR Yaris versus 22b and Quattro Sport. GRY acquits itself well against these rally-bred giants. I had not realised that a 22B commands £150-200k, and a Quattro £500k. Makes the GRY appear great value to get that kind of buzz today.
