    One more shit for sale

You've not really sold it there "then buy this shit".
  2. Here is a car in Japan that's got the same supercharger unit but with the HKS Stroker kit, HKS Cams and no restrictor on the intake... 365ps / 360bhp at the Hubs. Probably around 400bhp at the flywheel.
  3. Here is the Compressor Map for the GTS7040, for the more advanced people, i'm not going to pretend I can fully understand it.
  4. Absolutely! This thread is for everyone to learn and see what the HKS kit can do. So more input and evidence the better.
  5. I think its around about 0.55bar at peak at the moment. the restrictor is on the inlet side. It goes between the stock air box and the compressor itself. It's the little gasket style disc you can see between the intake pipe and compressor. Not sure what the maximum boost level this compressor will run. But its rated for 400hp at least on an unrestricted engine.

    Lee's HKS v2 Supercharged 86

Are you seeing knock when cold? One thing I looked into was how it responded when cold. And whilst I never gave it full throttle when cold, the car still repsonds and we don't see any problems with knock or vvti. As long as vvti has switched everything seems ok. What's causing it to knock and go rich when cold?

    Which uprated pads?

Yeah, It's not been a noticeable problem. But I've never compared to having a griper pad on the rear. I'll have a look at the Project Mu stuff and have a look. Stoptech are the other option for ease of ordering them.

    Which uprated pads?

I'm on the look out for some rear pads. I'll be sticking with Stock Discs I think or the Stoptech discs but open to suggestions for a good rear pad. I've got Performance Friction Z-Rated on the front in the Brembo STI callipers. So something on the back that's got good initial bite and can take some heat would be good. I've been running stock up until now and they're great but wonder if I could get something a bit more bite to match the fronts.
  9. I've just using Gauges with the sensors in the Oil Sandwich plate. They're accurate to within 1c of the ECU reading so I'm happy. There are a few bits like that! Try and ignore the photos. In some photos it's pictured parts out of the car / in the car just for reference. Follow the manual text and you should be fine. When I get a moment I will open up the manual and confirm those steps you mention. I think we did actually fit the traction filter to the bracket before we put it in the car to make it easier. But It won't make much difference... The car will run on stock NA map. Just don't put any load or high RPMs on it. I started mine on stock NA map and ran it through for 10 seconds fine. You could even drive it carefully on the NA map but best to get a base map if you can. As long as you keep it low revs and light throttle it will drive. Anything below 3k rpm isn't producing much boost anyway so the ecu just fuels according to NA. I didn't hear any sounds or anything above normal. I guess whats it's talking about it as things heat up and expand you may hear creaks and pipe work settling in to position....
  10. Back on topic: Regarding oil Temps and Pressures. I've got the HKS Type S oil cooler with the fog light delete. Cruising around with the supercharger I see temps of about 75 - 80c. Pushing hard they creep up to about 95c. And last Sunday on a seriously spirited drive with lots of full throttle runs and hard cornering I got the temp up to 105c. Everything ran faultlessly and 105c is a good road temperature in my opinion. Throughout the temperature range the pressure was stable and consistent and didn't have any concerns at all with pressures even at high revs and high speed corners. The real test will be on track. I am at Coltishall test circuit on the 6th June so will take notes and keep and eye on it then. This will probably be the first time on track since fitting the charger.
  11. I agree. We'll stop all number plate talk there. This thread was going to be an ongoing thread about mods on my car as a whole not just the Supercharger install. But I think going forward I'll keep this supercharger only related content as its the first major HKS Supercharger Thread and start another thread for my other mods. Can a mod/admin delete any numberplate talk from this thread?
  12. It's only the catback system? Unless I went 3" entire system there wouldn't be much point? My 2.5" Berk Cat would be the limiting factor anyway I imagine. And i'm really happy with my current exhaust, it flows really well. Will take a bit more power and sounds great!
  13. Yeah i've wanted the shorter plate with the 3D Gel Letters as this will match the TRD Gloss black really well. but not sure on the legality of it. hence why i've not done it yet. Benefit of the TRD kit is the bracket is made for a smaller plate. Do it! You won't be disappointed! One of the best mods i've done! With a few tweaks it really is an awesome car! You've already got the KWs! So you won't need much more! A good brake pad, and I assume you're already decat! It's asking to be bolted on!
  14. Took it out on it's first 'proper spirited drive' yesterday. We met up with the Piston-heads forum group at Thetford and then convoyed to Stowmarket along some awesome back roads. We then drove a coastal road to Aldeburgh for some fish and chips! Around 70 cars turned up for the day! All the way it was an absolute blast! On the B-Roads with momentum it just flys! It was catching me out at just how quick it accelerates out of corners! I'm glad I've got good brakes and a good pad compound! I was behind an Audi RS4, BMW M3, EVO 8 and an RX7. Keeping up was no problem. Corners, straight lines and the likes were just perfect! This charger really makes for an awesome 'spirited driving' car! Staying in the 4 - 7k range on a back road is so much fun. A gear higher usually in corners makes it easier and a bit more usable out of corners. Fully controllable on the throttle, surge of power when you get on the throttle between corners and then plenty of torque out of corners to not need to shift down to 2nd. At one point I had an M3 behind me and wasn't holding him up at all. Usually would have been a massive problem up front with those sort of cars! All day I was getting compliments on how well it drove and how awesome it sounds! Few guys behind actually pulled over and complimented how great it sounded. On lift off there's a really nice burble and the odd pop apparently. One guy behind me has got some video which he's sorting out and will send to me. Lifting off at around 7.5k rpm and you get the awesome recirc sound. Like your traditional Blow Off sound but a little more subtle and longer, and it's not super chavy which is nice, from the outside you can just hear that something is going on and the sound of Darth Vader breathing. Out of roundabouts and B-Roads the Power to Weight is now identical to an E46 BMW M3. On the B-Roads I didn't really find anything out of league. If you love reving your car out and using all the power of the rev range then the HKS Centrifugal is definitely worth thinking about! It still gives the sense of having to work the car and wind it up. But you just have a hell of a lot more power all of the time. It just keeps reving and reving! No way to really explain it unless you drive it. But imagine the stock car with just more power everywhere! One of the best things I've done to the car! Fuel wise, yesterdays run, driving it very hard 95% of the time. Full throttle blasts between most corners. I averaged 27mpg. Nothing to bad! Average I'm now getting 33mpg. Which is 2 mpg down on what I used to get. Not really a noticeable difference! And since i've had the charger fitted i've not really been economical with it! I should think I can get it up to around 35mpg again with a lighter right foot.
  15. Like Mark says you've not really got to worry about bringing in the boost too low down due to how the centrifugal chargers work. HKS supply the 43mm restrictor to produce around 300bhp. As this is what they consider 'safe and reliable' on a stock motor. I may open my restrictor to 44mm or 45mm just to see what a couple of mm difference makes as mine isn't a daily driver Unrestricted should be able to see around 400bhp on the same charger. I too am excited to see what one does without the restrictor! There is an engine being built at the moment to take it!!
  16. They are similar in that they both use Centrifugal chargers. But they're quite difference in terms of setup and pipework. The belts are driven differently and the pipework is very similar. I believe with the kraftwerks kit you have to do a fair bit of modification to the washer bottle and such. This charger is good to about 400bhp without a restrictor. So can be turned up if needed! They don't do a bigger charger you cna just swap in. They might release something bigger later on down the line but I imagine it would need a different install / pipe setup due to the space. But I think 400+hp on a forged engine will be more than enough for most people! I have a 2.5" exhaust all the way. HKS De-Catted Manifold, Miltek Overpipe, BERK catted front pipe and Cobra Resonated centre pipe and Cobra Back Box. We didn't see any problems with flow or the system holding anything back. It flows very well!
  17. I'll try. I did get a quick clip but the sound of the exhaust and rattles seemed to over power the recirc noise. I should be borrowing a GoPro soon and can get some better external / underbonnet videos.
  18. With the HKS there isn't a whine as such. You can hear it breathing. From the outside it's quite obviously superchargerd due to the sound and the air rushing! From inside you can tell theres something going on. On full throttle you really know! The Recirc valve sounds fantastic between shifts and the exhaust is a really nice sound.
  19. I'd seen that Harrop TVS supercharger too. Think it was water-cooled, looked very interesting but from what I understand it was still quite early on in development.

    New shiny stuff !!!!!

I think with the latest ecutek this isn't so much of a problem. I havn't felt it for the last few remaps. But worth doing anyway! And just to do them in 2nd gear to enjoy them

    Instagram?

It's essentially just a profile for sharing photos. It's good because you can chose who and what you want to come up on your feed! I only follow car related people on mine, and car related people only follow me! So it's not knowing any photos you post car related are going to be enjoyed and not just piss people off with filling up their timeline of crap they're not interested in. Like wise my feed is only full of cars and stuff i'm interested in. I find Facebook and Twitter is full of too much crap and junk between useful and interesting posts! Its a good place to get a little community of people and a following for a specific topic. I always tend to get the same few people comment / like my photos from around the world.

    Instagram?

Personally I have - @GT86Jay I don't think the club has one though.
  23. On my OBD adapter / Torque app there's both. 'Accelerator position' and 'Throttle body position'.
  24. Yeah, Maz is running the 43mm restrictor on stock fuel. Its ok, HKS only really advise it with Injectors as you are closing on the limit and when they first mapped it they didn't have quite the control Ecutek does over the injectors. Yes we installed an AFR gauge onto the manifold initially to map the high speed stuff.
