    2nd service

It's probably not a case of them trying to fob you off. It'll be more a case of not having the correct training / knowledge of what should be done / covered. When I took my car to my dealer they admitted to having never serviced a GT86, let alone a 20k mile one with Diff Oil! Luckily I had email from Richard saying it is included and when they looked into it, it was. They done it all free of charge with the oils and fluids required for the set amount. They just needs some training from the people higher up!

    Any device to Monitor Knock?

It can log to 0.01 seconds. It can do per cylinder logging and per cylinder mapping. To the point we can map separate cylinders differently. The built in Knock Sensor is very intelligent and clever. At the moment I see no need to run a Motec, Ecutek covers everything we need even in Race situations and is far far cheaper. Out of interest why do you run a Motex M150? What does it give you that Ecutek doesn't? Does the M150 do Port and Direct Injection?
  3. I was replying to Keith's Comment where he was saying people use the supercharger at the top end. Which isn't the case. I've never ever seen a supercharger used in a twincharge setup to fill in boost at the top where a Turbo can't handle it. IMO the supercharger is used in the lower - mid range. Like you say. To fill in and reduce lag.
  4. Over the weekend I decided to do something about the engine bay. It was starting to look like an explosion in a skittles factory. I had a few different brands and ended up with, Orange, Blue, Red, Yellow, Gold, White and Black under the engine bay. I decided it was all to go black and stealthy to emphasise the supercharger. The Blue, Orange, Yellow and Gold really made it look tacky. On first thoughts it was to be Black. But this actually looked a bit plain and boring. Obvious i'd sprayed the stuff too. So went for a subtle glitter black. Which looks far far better and actually surprisingly more factory finished... I done all the brace bars, caps, brake cylinder stopper and battery tie down... Really happy with the results. Now waiting for my PW JDM anodizes washers to arrive to change them from Blue to Black. Managed to clean the bay and get rid of all the grease, gunk and oil deposits that had built up too. Looks like new. Also took advantage of the Halfords 3 for 2 offer on at the moment...
  5. I’ve started this thread which will probably be like a small Mods blog as i’ve never really set one up for my car. I’ve always thought about boosting my GT86 but never really decided on a route or if it would be viable. But after driving Maz’s car a fair bit on the road and once on track it made sense to go the Centrifugal Supercharged route. For the style of driving and type of roads I drive it made sense. The HKS supercharger to me just feels like a bigger block NA car. You don’t get that sudden rush of power in one peak. It just keeps climbing and climbing. Over 6.5krpm is just awesome! Being hands on and quite technical and capable I decided i’d fit the kit myself as a sense of achievement and a little personal project with the help from Maz at HKS Europe. We picked this weekend as it gives me the extra bank holiday day and fitted in best with Adrian mapping it at Fensport this week. We started the install at about 5:30 Friday evening with the plan to get all the prep work and old bits off the car so that Saturday morning we could start fitting the go-faster bits. The Manual is relatively easy to understand although at times the Japanese to English translation is a little poor. But luckily with having Maz to help he could read the Japanese ones and it all made sense! First thing is to get the Bumper off and expose the front of the car. Along with unbolting the crash bar as we fit some brackets to this for the Intercooler. We also remove the bonnet catch and top bonnet support for later. Also free’d up the Oil cooler and made sure this was out the way temporarily whilst fitting the new parts. What’s impressive with the HKS kit is the amount of dedication and precision gone into planning the kits. We spent a fair couple of hours adding clips to existing hoses and supporting stock parts for the preparation of them receiving positive boost. Parts like the canister can under the manifold. Usually the hoses are just pushed on loosely. But now they’ll see positive pressure HKS actually supply clips to add to these hoses to make sure they don’t pop off! It would be a real PITA if one popped after install! It just gives a little bit of piece of mind that you’re adding reliability. Interestingly Version 1 of the supercharger didn’t have these extras! But they added them for Version 2. Once this was all done and the fiddly bits out of the way we had the car ready to receive boost! We have to add a bracket to the underside of the Crash beam which will be used to support the intercooler so we got this added and in place. This is fiddly as you’ve got to get a nut on the bolt which is half way along from an opening at the end! We got there in the end! Also had to cut a little channel in the upper bonnet support for the charge pipe to come back into the engine bay. Next up was fitting the actual compressor to the car. The bracket is very substantial and quality is outstanding. Everything just fitting into place lined up and went perfectly. The bracket basically fits into the existing holes in the Alternator and fits in really well. After a few bolts, belt on and tensioner released we had the unit in place! We then went ahead and mounted the intercooler in place. It looks as though it sits on the bottom shelf. But it actually hanging from 2 bracket. Its a very good fit and the HKS kit hasn’t failed to impress regarding quality and fitment! This charger uses a traction fluid system with it’s own oil cooler to lubricate the charger components. A tank is mounted just beside the airbox, using two existing holes in the support just below the bonnet release. After cutting the supplied hoses to length, adding an inline filter and clipping it all on. The traction fluid system was in place along with the cooler, bottle, lines and filter. It's important to get the traction fluid cool and ensure everything is working correctly. As this can seriously damage the compressor if the fluid isn't there as expected! Now to put the stock airbox back into it’s location ready for the intake suction pipe. Any airbox or induction that uses the stock intake pipe location should fit with this kit. Here we put a restrictor plate between the supercharger and the intake air box. The restrictor is a simple plate which sandwiches between the intake pipe and the charger with two gaskets. It restricts the power from the capable 400hp to about 300hp to use on a stock engine block! The restrictor is great as it keeps all the available torque and power low and and just clips the peak power towards the top end. You can of course run it without a restrictor if you dare on a stock engine! The great thing with this unit is if you do decide to go for a forged engine you can simply remove the restrictor, tweak the map and you’ll be able to produce around 400hp comfortably with the same kit. We then plumbed in the intercooler which is a fiddly job as there isn’t much room, especially if you have the oil cooler installed too! This kit was obviously designed, tested and fitted in Japan where they do not have HID headlights also meaning they haven't got the headlight washers! Which actually get in the way a fair bit on the UK cars as the headlight washers sit just where the pipe wants to naturally sit. But after some persuasion and careful positioning it does all go back in and the headlight washer still works. Moving on by connecting up the throttle body intake pipe from the intercooler. This bit was straight forward. The pipe sits in the neat hole that was cut earlier on in the process. All connecting up and on the throttle body. We have a completed plumbed in Supercharger. We have to take a vacuum line from the vacuum brake line so that the Recirc valve can work. For this we simply take a T-Piece in the original vacuum line and connect it to the valve. At this point the install is done! We topped up the traction fluid tank. Fired it up and ensured there are no air leaks and fluid is circulating ok. Starts first time and the sound is just fantastic. A real rushing of air and breathing sound! One with the final bits like the bumper, and side indicators etc. And it’s finished! All together it took us around 12 hours with two of us working on it. What helped was Maz’s ability to know stuff as he’d already done it on his car. Little tips and tricks to make things easier and the knowledge of knowing what we we’re un-doing was correct! The manual makes it easy as the install is split up into smaller chunks of work. So you’re only ever aiming for one goal at a time. Such as ‘Fit the intercooler’ - ‘For this you will need’. Rather than tackling the entire project with all the bits in one go. Off to Fensport today for the map! Once i've driven it with some boost i'll report back
  6. The couple of times i've been in Sprintex it does seem to give you all the Torque low to mid. The HKS blower is far better at giving you more higher up. I've seen a dyno sheet comparing the two and its quite noticeable. Usually twin charging you use the supercharger low end to fill in the gap that Turbo lag gives you. Then let the Turbo take you from there once it's spooled up. If people are using Turbo first then Sprintex for high end something is wrong...
  7. I went for the HKS supercharger kit due to the fact it feels like the stock characteristics with just more power. No sudden power surges, no sudden torque leaps and it seems to produce good boost all the way from 3k to red line. It seems a stable road kit. I've had zero heat issues. (Not taken it on track yet, although Maz drives in TSS and doesn't see any problems). IMO the HKS is the best 'Factory feel boost' solution if you just want a bit more. It handles well on my 225tyres so no need to go crazy tyres to handle the torque as it's fed in smoothly and progressively. Anyone is welcome to have a go in my car if they wish. Think of the HKS kit as just having a bigger displacement NA engine.
  8. I'm looking for someone who has either had the Summit Triangle Brace fitted or replaced their Stock Brace Bars. I've had mine Anodized Blue but need to put them back to standard, so looking for Left and Right Bars in black with no damage if anyone got a set laying around? PM me a price and we'll go from there.

    1st Mot passed but.....

That'll be me then. Strange that Keith Stanbury (Spec K) Did test a catless manifold with Cat in the front pipe and it passed. But I think his was a very expensive cat! Friendly MOT Test Station it is.

    Stock GT86 front Brace Bars

Change of theme. I originally went for an Anodized Blue theme, which worked well for a while. But now I've got a summit bar, HKS Supercharger and a few other bits it's getting messy with Blue, Yellow, Orange, black and Red going on. So it's all going Black / Carbon to match the HKS Supercharger Hoses.

Interior switches - grey to black

Yep, Very good service and quick delivery.

Interior switches - grey to black

I also changed to Black interior. Cost me around £80 for everything and looks so so much better IMO. I just wish the switches on the heating controls were available in black. But as these weren't an option on the Low Spec car they don't exist.

    2nd service

The way I done my 40k service was go into the dealer, buy the fluids and take them to Fensport. Still worked out far far cheaper than Toyota quoted to do the work! And could have sourced the fluids cheaper if I could be bothered. But the Diff Oil isn't too expensive to be fair.

My dealer done my Oil at 20k and 40k as per the service schedule. I've never heard it being 'Oil for Life'...

    HKS SC V2 engine oil

FYI - I'm only talking from experience with MY car when I said I had trouble with a thicker oil. I may have sensitive / sticky oil control valve. Using a thicker oil may well be perfectly fine for many! And a lot of people are using a thicker oil. I'm currently using a 0w30 and it's running perfectly, temps are good and pressure is stable at all revs / temps.
  16. Ordering through Fensport will be your best option as I won't be making these kits anymore myself. Only via Fensport. Once I'm sure all the orders have been fulfilled on the forums I will make you one as promised Keith, as I owe you anyway! As promised!
  17. Bigger exhaust would be best if you're in a position to be able to do that. I already had the 2.5" system and couldn't see a benefit of upgrading at this point. However if I was to buy an exhaust with the knowing i'd be supercharging i'd have gone 3". Although there isn't much benefit until you start pushing over 350hp IMO. At which point i'd want to spend the money on engine internals before a new exhaust! I've not really driven the car lately to get anymore data or updates. In fact there are weeds growing up the side of it at the moment However i'm looking for a set of the stock braces. The two black ones that come with the car. If anyone has a spare set going i'd be interested.
  18. I have had 3 PMs and a Facebook message from people regarding missing orders. I have printed the labels and have packaged up the 4 kits. I will be dropping them off first thing tomorrow morning where I will get tracking. I have been told there are 4 people with missing kits.. And I have now packaged up the 4 that I missed / lost details for I assume. As far as I know this is everyone. If there are more I have screwed up as I have no more stock. But PM me if you've been missed and i'll buy more... Here they are waiting to be sent out. Couple of kits in slightly different boxes as i've ran out of my normal brown ones.
  19. Chris - Read thread above. Please PM me your address on this forum. I believe I have yours labeled up, just need to confirm address. Michael - I have your address, I will be taking to post office tomorrow morning.
  20. I don't live in Loddon, So I can assure you they're not from my Bedroom window. If they are I have an incredible camera. I can explain them, not that I feel it will change anything or people can chose to believe or not. The car lives at my girlfriends house most of the time when i'm working away I use my Crappy Clio to leave places I'm unsure of with the GT86. She sends me photos of it now and again when i'm away if something exciting happens or just a general 'morning, your car is still here' photo. Or if another 86 is parked behind it which has happened in the past. Sometimes I upload them straight away to instagram, other times I don't. As I said people can believe me or not. I can dig out the facebook conversations from my girlfreind sending me the photos if anyone wants confirmation... I'm not here to provide evidence or support all my PMs though. But won't people to realise i'm not trying to screw everyone. If that was the case i'd have done it to all 150 people in the group buy and saved myself hours of board harness making and sore fingers! But here is one example of her sending me the photo on 10th March....
  21. I have received your PM and have just printed a postage label. Will be dropping it off on Monday. Please could you PM me a link to the photo you mentioned earlier regarding my Twitter as I am concerned by this and am concerned about what is put out on the web about me. I've had a quick look and can see no photos from my bedroom window. Especially none around the time I was away. I won't leave the forum, I'll always hang around and keep an eye on the forum. Met some great friends and people i'd always stay in contact with. I know a few won't see it the same way though and they'll always be negativity around this subject.
  22. Please PM me your address. Also i'd like to see this photo from my 'Bedroom' window so please include that in the PM.... Because you're right, if that is the case, I will get a new friend. It might also be worth remembering that I don't have to post stuff on twitter the second it happens. I sometimes post images and tweets from events from the past. I can't comment for other PM's. If those people think that they need to PM me. I've had no PMs telling me i've been out of order.
  23. It's easier to say that, but there will always be people who remember this ordeal and judge based on this. I'll see how comfortable I feel with everything. Work sucks at the moment, I can't commit to anything and I feel if I do i'd be judged. You know how it is. As positive as it is. A negative over shadows everything. The best bit about this car is the community and the meets. Without that the car is a means of transport and the hobby side of it disappears.
  24. First of all i'd like to start by saying sorry if you feel i've lied to you and scammed you. I have to convince you this is never my intention and I have shipped and made over 150 of these kits. I'm not sure where you have got 8 funerals from. I have attended 2. Both were in extremely close proximity of each other. My grandfathers death was no lie or joke or excuse. I can prove this. My girlfriends grandfather also passed away extremely closely to mine. Both funerals were within a few days of each other. So none of this is a joke or a lie. A 3rd was of a close friend who I also attended the funeral of a week later. Along with a close family illness which affected me closely. Not sure how I would have 8 grandfathers....? I have also been away with work and various locations with work, usually very short trips nothing amazingly fun. Missing club events and meets that i'd usually be at. Specifically Japfest, Leeds Castle SuperCar Seige and the like.. Unfortunately there has been a few kits which havn't been received or confusion has arose. I'm not a business and nor do I have any experience or knowledge of running orders. I am extremely poor at this. And yes orders have gone missing and I have lost addresses and peoples tracking, I have found this side of this extremely difficult. Tracking 100+ orders at anyone time on an excel sheet.. I was banned from the other Forum and got extremely offended by the way 'Caretaker' treated me and spoke to me therefore havn't been on that forum since. If I log in I just get a 'Permission denied' Screen. "Only members with sufficient permission can access this page." Therefor I have no way to reply anymore. I believe I was put on post review but then due to 'Caretakers' Attitude he decided I would be blocked completely I assume... I can't PM him to ask.. As I can no longer access PM. I get emails to say I have them, I click the link. I log in. It tells the person i've read them, but can no longer reply... Mainly due to the way Caretaker treated me and spoke to me. Calling me pretty pathetic names for an adult I did decide to just ignore that forum all together, I managed to reply to a couple for a short time but now back to fully blocked. The weekend the supercharger was installed was a single weekend in which I did drop everything and fit the charger as it was booked in with HKS to be done. And things had calmed down for this. It was whilst I was away on this weekend I actually found out my grandad had passed away. I am in no way using any of this as an excuse. I have lost orders and i'm sorry. But without people PM'ing me on this forum I got to a point of not being able to track or know! If you are talking about my @GT86Jay twitter account then i'm afraid this isn't always me doing the tweets. I share this account with another friend of mine who is passionate about the car, I don't really do Twitter so he does most the social media for that account. I do instagram thats about it with the car. Please if anyone doesn't have the camera PM me on this forum! I have the kits sitting and waiting. I have 3 kits which I bought knowing there were orders for. And have 3 waiting to be sent, but with no way of tracking or knowing who was owed what I have not been able to send them. Yams was the last person who I received contact from on the other forum, and after the attitude "Caretaker" took with me I lost all hope with that forum. After not receiving any PMs on this forum and people going quiet i'd assumed I had managed to get all the 166 cameras sent out to people. So yes did put it beside me and carry on posting on the forums where help and advice could be given. This entire camera ordeal which I did set out to make zero profit, help the community and provide something not otherwise available has turned bitter and left me stressed, tired and extremely de-morolised. I do feel like i've let a few people down and have been an arsehole where replies are concerned on the Owners Club forum. For that reason I feel as though I'd not be welcome or feel as comfortable at club events as before. For the few that have gone wonky, these are the few negatives that are remembered. Not the 150+ that have gone successful. Therefore I know people will now judge and base their opinion of me from these few negatives. I will attend the Toyota Sprint Series as support as I have personal connections with this. Like you say, people who have met me know me to try and be helpful and a nice chap. But knowing they have the experience and opinion of these few fuck ups means I will never be able to feel comfortable in the community again. I'm just gonna take a back step learn from the experience and remember never to try and help the community again. Because no matter how positive the few negatives are what you have to base your life on and its no my job. Anyone who has an outstanding camera kit order, please PM me on this forum. I will get it sent to you regardless of cost to me. Once i'm happy the kits are received I will be probably take a step back. Jay

    MOT

I'll be putting mine through end of August. HKS Catless Manifold, Berk High-flow pipe with Cat. And will see how it goes. Will be trying it through the 'dealer' then a 'Friendly MOT Tester' if that fails.
