  1. Steve - I suggest that you make Rob/Lauren/Keethos/Alec aware of Dan's/your suggestions - I have made my position clear and will co-operate fully with whatever the Club's management decides. Spec K

Woowzers - only just realised this club existed!

Be good to see a few more on this 'Club' site... there has been (uninformed) comment on the Forum and, being banned, I (we) cannot rectify the misleading assumptions that many regulars have made. And continue to make. All are free to post their comments here, including Dan/ Stu/Kodename (and in Kodename's defence he's the only one who is standing up for the dark side and talking sense, in my opinion. But he stands against Dan and Stu.. ) Watch out for a rather special event I'm trying to put together... plan is to take over a private hotel, very close to Mallory Park, for two days. Marquee in the grounds for 'Members'. Can fit 80-odd 'jewels' on display. Not worried about track time (if it's on for us manic nuts = it's a bonus, okay?), but it's not the focus, this is a big, big, social chill. I need to bounce the whole idea off the Committee...Spec K
  3. Many of us hope the same. Others are less than enthusiastic.. and I can understand that, it's not pleasant being shat on from a dizzy height without warning or an umbrella... .However, I am confident that any decision over co-operation will be carefully considered by the Club's directors.Spec K

Woowzers - only just realised this club existed!

Hi GT86Owner. Glad you decided to have a look... hopefully a lot of the 'confusion' referred to in the other place will be resolved soon and we can start looking at co-operation. But it does take two to tango... and (in my opinion) there is an undercurrent of envy that taints over there, alas..The biggest difference is that this is a genuine 'Club' with Members who subscribe and get a say in the management. And it will grow, as the management are all totally enthusiastic GT86/BRZ petrolheads who want to encourage more events, both social and track.. hence the booking at BHP Lydden on 05 May 2014. I shall be looking to organise another Essex/Herts meet in December and I'm sure Rob has plans for a Kent bash.. all are welcome..Spec K

    AVO turbo questions

Don't be. Adrian is reckoning on 360-odd bhp on the GT86R and is running (at present) std water rad plus average oil cooler . No aircon rad, so airflow is improved... but it will become an issue on road/trackday cars as opposed to 'sprint' cars, I agree..Like Dave (Pitman), I'm looking to improve cooling - Koyo oversize water rad and a 'tweaked' size/layout oil cooler - Adrian runs without foglight and ducts airflow that way. I'm looking to 'offset' the oil rad into an airflow 'channel' adjacent to the intercooler which we've reviewed... requires different pipe connections... this is theory, not yet evaluated.. however, an oil cooler adds nigh-on 1litre of extra oil (18% more than standard) to cooling fluids... significant..(Won't affect you pudding-stirring guys but I've got to look at auto transmission cooling as well... ick!)Spec K
  7. Oooh.. I like!! The 'carbon fibre' doorshields are awesome - keep the missus out of the car...... 6-point harnesses are a bit ott, you could hit a bridge at 90mph sideways and stay slotted..... who needs a handbrake like that when you can sling it sideways by blinking an eyelid..?Spec K

    AVO turbo questions

Yes to oil cooler... I have the Koyo oversize water rad on order with Fensport, although we will be looking at whether it will fit.. the intercooler and the pipework for the turbo makes it pretty tight on space..

    AVO turbo questions

Either the primary cat (in the exhaust mainfold) or the secondary cat (in the midpipe) is sufficient to meet the UK MOT emissions needs on the n/a car. Both is an overkill, specifically to meet US requirements (I think..)My HFC (200 cel) and midpipe weighs in at less than 8 kilos I think - if you phone Ian at Hayward & Scott in Basildon he'll most likely be able to give you a precise weight. I've yet to have my turbo'd car tested for emissions..Spec K

    Exhaust Overpipes

Can I just mention that Mark@Abbey prototyped an OEM exhaust manifold for me with the cats deleted... this made a significant difference in bhp over the standard kit but, to take full advantage of it, the overpipe/midpipe second cat needs removing/replacing with an HFC. Mark was talking about offering this modification on a part-exchange basis - not sure how far this plan has progressed but he has the jig for it... (I still have this manifold if anyone is interested in it - replaced with turbo). Spec K

    Exhaust Overpipes

Keethos - speaking from memory I think the OEM is somewhat 'squashed' where it avoids the bellhousing. As part of a (secondary only decat) full system it is debatable whether it is worth it - I'd agree with Mark - I went for the (both cats deleted) and replaced with an overpipe, high-flow cat in the midpipe and non-resonated system - which is the only way to go if, like me, you want to replace your exhaust headers with a non-catted system (or turbo) and want to remain MOT legal. 15. Sorry Rich but I feel very bitter and twisted by my 'ban' from the other Forum (which is the second time for me!). Other than registering this company (which is limited by guarantee with all profits ploughed back into it for the benefit of Members) and remaining a 'Trustee shareholder' I have nothing to do with its management or daily/weekly development. As agreed when my previous ban was lifted I have not discussed nor brought up the matter subsequently on his 'Forum' - yet he still decides to screw me today! Why? The company management is in the hands of its directors, not me. I own shares in a number of companies and would ask a relevant question - would Tescos ban me from shopping in their store if I owned Morrison shares? Or if I owned the little grocery shop next door? What have I done to 'damage' him or his money-making schemes? Does Dan really believe he has a monopoly over the name 'GT86 Owners'? If he does, why didn't he protect it as a registered company? Or any of his other 50-odd 'Forums' ? To get an email today which says "I have therefore decided to..." and then have the discourtesy/rudeness not to sign it by name but send it from 'info@gt86ownersforum' is about as badly-mannered as I have encountered in over 40 years of business/social dealings. No - not 'badly-mannered' - it shows someone is a retard. I have done more to support and build the 'social' side of his fscking Forum than anyone else - who organised the Autosport Show for 'members' last January? Who has organised two 'Essex Meets', the last one a blinder karting? Who has organised/negotiated the 'BHP Festival' at Lydden next year for all GT86 owners? Who has enthused about the TSS series and took the first plunge at it, encouraging the largest turnout at Blyton Park? (And yes - Toyota *ARE* aware of my influence, hence my hints on his Forum regarding BHP...) . I do hope someone will have the courage to post this reply on Dan's Forum - such childish and immature reaction is cutting one's nose off to spite one's face. Spec K
  16. Rob - my Koni 'seized'. I am (was!) still running track settings on the road - too harsh but I liked it. You may find that the Tein springs 'sag' on the rear - mine did and I changed them for the 15mm lowered on the rear (stiffness is almost identical - 4.5Kgs on 25mm, 4.6Kgs on 15mm). Kept the 25mm lowered on front = real balance. I run 2mm neg camber on front and 2.5mm neg camber on rear, gave me exceptional front end grip and really controllable slide on the rear (with F1 Eagles). This was before turbo, which totally blew me away - no way does this setup, with relatively skinny road tyres, match the additional power/torque, in my opinion. Spec K
  17. This is killing me! Every time I try to 'quote' a previous post (such as LFA's one above), this Forum corrupts (Microsoft 'Error, send us a report') and kicks me out! It does the same thing every time I hit a ! Four times I've replied to the 'Banned' thread and four times its thrown me out! I'm going to try one more time on the 'Banned' thing, then I'll leave it up to PeteH to try and resolve on Sunday (fellow driver, Spa in November, my IT guru) Spec K

    Essex Meet - 04 August 2013

For new and old alike... meet at The Halfway House, Arterial Road (A127), Brentwood, CM13 3LL at 11.30am. This is particularly convenient for the M25 - a mile east from Junction 29 - so I hope the Kent Krew will join us.. Sedate drive through country lanes to the A12 Karting complex at Witham (CM8 3UN) whence battle can commence - karts, Lasertag, games arcade, bar and restaurant.. depending on numbers for karting I'll try and organise heats/points system so please add your name to this list or to the one at the other place.. 1. Rev Works UEL (Unequal Length) Header

I am still not sure ! The OEM/HKS exhaust manifolds are 'opposite ports joined', whilst JDL/Borla/H&S are 'adjacent ports joined'. In the absence of technical data from the aftermarket manufacturers I'd stick with the Toyo program - after all, it took seven years to develop! Spec K

    Center exhaust bolts worked loose

Mark is doing the Cobra and I was impressed with the quality... and with the sound. H&S is disappointing -sound is spectacular but I have 'blow' marks on welds at the rear bifurcation into the two rear silencers and the manifold is a disaster - I've trashed it, cost me 6-10bhp and £900 with the HFC installed. It's no longer important, however, as I'm going turbo, I'm fed up with this lack of torque...penny to a pinch of sh*t that'll be the next TRD upgrade, the angst of yobs in GTI's flashing past is suicidal.
