    Look Whos Back!!!

Ah... as it's you asking me, Dave... I'm going for a rear carbon-fibre effect lip facing, matches my wing mirror covers. Goes over the bootlid panel where the Toyota badge goes (and covers up the two pin holes that Alec identified - har!). Then I can put my custom badge on it. I'm going for the new (ducted) oil cooler which allows retention of the existing n/s foglight. I'm going for a Blitz 3-guage mounting panel on the passenger fascia (oil temp/oil pressure/boost). Now need to plan this into the calendar/cashflow, along with new rims/tyres.. probably 17" x 9" Rota Grid rims with 245/40/17 Eagles. Then I'd look to put winter tyres on my 8" Blitz rims. The other mods are in planning mode at this stage - technically feasible but need development, testing and evaluation. I'll tell you about 'em at the Xmas bash.. Spec K

    Look Whos Back!!!

As planned I took my car up to Fensport for then to give it the 'once-over' yesterday. RRG have done a first rate job, a few minor turbo-related bits which they were probably unaware of, a small suspension geometry change to get the neg camber spot on and an oil change to run my preferred Millers Nanotech... Adrian checked the mapping and it's spot on. (On the way back I tried it in the 'low boost' setting... much smoother progression and ideal for motorway overtaking, except for the occasional GTi/Boxster which won't get out of the way.. flick it into high boost and the job is done..) Ho hum - the trouble is that every time I go up to Fensport it costs me money in more goodies! Spec K

    Hello all

That is a great road - through Leek. I usually come up the M1/M6 to Macc but when I came up to collect my car last week my satnav took me up the M1 nigh-on to the Nottingham turnoff and then via Leek. Pity it was in a Yaris..

    Winter tyres

I realise that the conventional thinking is to keep snow tyres narrow... I've got a standard set of rims (which require spacers due to my oversize brakes) or I can use my soon-to-be-redundant 8" Blitz rims... like Sideways I am based dahn sarf. Would you stay with std 7" rims or go with the 8" rims? Spec K

Not de-badging the whole car Keethos.. I merely want to identify it as 'turbo'.. but in a subtle way... hence the concept of <GT86T>, you would need to be an aficionado to spot the extra 'T'. (Car is being superguarded and carnuba waxed this morning... gleam, gleam.. tee hee...) Spec K

    Look Whos Back!!!

Thanks for the welcome back... "Houston, the Eagle has landed". I have to acknowledge with huge thanks the enthusiasm and commitment of the guys at RRG. Gary and Andy - plus the unnamed guys in the body repair shop - have exceeded my highest expectations - and it's been a two-way thing, as they acknowledge they have learned an enormous amount about the GT86 during this project. Most of all to Rich, who has 'managed' this rebuild and kept me informed all of the way.. Booked in a Fensport on Thursday for a 'fine tune' of the chassis/suspension settings, oil change and an engine map checkover. Big thanks to them for shipping up to RRG bits for the turbo (including intercooler) and a new Koni shock on a 'must have' basis. Sorry I'll miss the meeting on 9th - I'll be at the Christmas bash, of course. (Oh, and congrats to Rob for a seamless 'migration' to the new Forum.. anyone giving lessons?) Spec K

    Front and rear Toyota/Subaru badges

Thanks Alec. I will look and see if the <GT86> rear bottom badge covers the holes. (I've had the two bottom bootlid badges removed). Or see how easy it is to fill the holes... Spec K

    Air con cerns

I've learned something recently from RRG Macc which I am passing on...It is costing me nearly £600 to refill my aircon system. Reason being that it is a 'new' type of gas, Toyota have run out of supplies and the only company in the UK who have it are based in Kent/would have to travel to RRG Macclesfield to refill it.This new 'gas' - demanded by the EU for 'environmental' reasons' - is highly flammable. Technical advice is that the GT86 system cannot be filled with the 'old' type of gas due to insufficient 'lubricant' within the formula.Mercedes are appealing against the EU regulation which has imposed this requirement - presumably all new cars within the EU are subject to the same demand.Having waited nearly six weeks for one key component to come from Japan I am not a happy bunny over this latest hassle... it seems to me that Toyo UK should get their act together..Spec K

    Air con cerns

Ian - good question. As Rich rightly says, mine is an exceptional situation - but could be experienced by a customer who inadvertently gets a stone through the aircon radiator. The system should be checked annually... no-one (to my knowledge) has quoted a TGB price for a re-gas, probably because no-one has needed one on a GT86 until now.. well, not in the UK, anyway..Lauren - I didn't know additives were available ! If someone can research out the correct formula there could be a salvation in the offing..Spec K

    Air con cerns

Following on.... there is a serious issue here. Our cars are 'warranted' for five years yet, if you spring an aircon leak it's out of action because no TGB dealer has got the right gas...CD - it's not only melocule size. According to my info there is a lubricant added to the non-134a gas which is essential for compressor maintenance and which is not present in the 134a-based gases. You seize the compressor if you change...Spec K
