Awesome, thanks :P This car has turned out to be an absolute bargain. Totally worth the flight up to Scotland. I will be getting another remap done when I get my manifold fitted.

Maybe I shouldn't have fiddled with it, I selected map 3, but obviously no idea what that would be.

Sorry another question, if I was to start my car again would it stay on map 3 or go back to a default map. Or any way I can get it to go back to what it was on before? as map 3 could have been anything  (maybe it has NOS that I don't know about too... yea right )

How are you selecting the map? I thought you chose the particular map you want when the car is mapped and that's what you have (always). I didn't know you could alter the map from the driver's seat so to speak.

  2. I know you don't need a timing strut (beam breaker) for Javelin or TSS events but I need one for MSA events. I just wondered whether anyone on here had thought this through and worked out the easiest way of making/fixing one.

    Thanks
    Bob

  3. I think this is the right place for this, if not I'm sure an admin will put me right...

I've got a 2kg handheld extinguisher from my Elise which i want to fit in the GT86. In the elise i had it under the passenger's legs on the floor. Is there a better place in the GT86? Where do others fit them?

    Thanks

    Bob

  4. I know the regs will probably change  for next year but I was looking at this year's regs and results and can see class N1 in results (with GT86s in it) but no mention of that class in the regs. what am I not understanding?

    Cheers

A lot of us are members of the Sprint and Trackday group. They run events throughout the year, usually one per month apart from December and January iirc. Last event of this year is on Tuesday but I'm not sure how many 86's are signed up for that.

Hi Deacon, How do you join? Is it a club? Do you have link to a website?

Me too and quite a few others on here too!

Which layout do you compete on at Curborough?

I've done single lap, double lap and figure of eight. I normally do the Owen Motor club' s Graham Hill Sprint in June and the HSA one in October plus additional ad hoc ones if I'm free that weekend. when might I see other GT86s there?

In what way was it flawed? If you let us know we can improve it for next time. Many others have completed it fine.

Last night I did it on my phone and the logic of the question after I said I was not a premium member was flawed. It assumed I was. I've just done it again now on a PC using Chrome and had a different problem. I recorded it for you. See -

  8. Hi, I'm sure this is going to be daft question and the answer is probably somewhere on the website/forum but I'm new here and a bit short of time so forgive me...

The info about the event seems to suggest you can still enter and can buy a licence at the event.  I'm well used to Sprint events organised under MSA rules and regulations. Is this something else? Something more like a track day?

    Confused.

Welcome Bob. Any plans for the car?

I've spent hours today reading stuff on the forum. First thing to sort is a way of mounting my Galaxy 7 phone which I'll be using as a sat nav. I'll leave the car as it is for a few months while I'm getting used to it, but before next season I'll probably change air filter (maybe change some more on the induction side) and tyres. Haven't decided what tyres to get yet but on hill climbs with trees so close to the track the last thing you want is an exciting rear end.  I'll also be looking at other ways of increasing power and throttle response without going forced induction and without spending a fortune. No real plans yet, it's early days :-)

Welcome along. There's quite a few of us in the Midlands and we have a Midlands meet in Walsall at the end of the month:-

I'd seen that, Deacon, and was going to come along as it's not far for me, but on that day I'm committed to a big family party in Birmingham. Next time though! Cheers, Bob.

  11. Good stuff, Bob. Mine has done three years worth of the Toyota Sprint Series, been round Alps both clockwise and anti-clockwise and also been out to the old 'east' of Germany! 90K miles and it's been utterly reliable.

I'm guessing given you will be competing in it, a few upgrades will be happening?

    Good to hear :-)

Not sure about upgrades. The MSA are introducing a new roadgoing class next year for series production cars in completely standard trim. If I get the impression there'll be a few others in this class, I might give that a go. Otherwise, I'll be looking at mods to get on terms (or close to) S2000s, Elises and the usual hot hatches.
