Good stuff. Numbers are slowly confirming.
Drive is open to friends and family.

I'm certainly still going lol. You beat me to the question Lauren. How many people are coming so I can organise maps / direction. I have a couple friends in their mx5 wanting to tag along.
-
Having checked with a very well spoken lady at chats worth house on the phone. She has confirmed the grounds should be open to us for the opotion of a photo shoot.

Apologies to the f1 fans I posted the time for the Singapore night race instead of Malaysia race as Mike has said so f1 race starts at 8am. The race is a maximum of 2 hours so the 10.30 meet (option 3) still works and seems to be the most popular vote so far so unless there is an objection with good reason. That's the time we will meet.
Due to the suggested numbers the likely meet will be tesco. Not the most glamorous start point but it does have a Costa Coffee.
If you are bringing friends in a second or third car could you let me know so I know how many maps to print out.
If people would like to stop at chatworth house for a 15-20 min photo shoot with the house in the background shout out and I will check the grounds are open and that we wouldn't have to pay entry.
Lastly for my next project dose anyone know of or own a well drained field / car park / other large open tarmac or concreate area. More info on this to come
Cheers guys and gals

Hi quick question about roll cages.
I'm planning on putting a roll cage in one of my cars with you saying you don't cover cages is that you don't cover cars with cages in or you don't cover just the cage but the rest of the car is covered.
My insurance is due in october one mazda Mx5 track day car driven to tracks so needs insurance and one completely stock Toyota gt86.
Would you be willing to offer insurance to the track car while it's on the road?
Thanks

Ooh good call regarding the F1
I had been thinking a 10.30 meet but I'm open to suggestions.
Race starts at 1pm according to the F1 website.
So option 1
Set off at 9.30 and be back just before the start of the race with the option of taking over a pub and having the landlord put the race on a TV.
Option 2
Meet at 3.30 30mins after the scheduled end of the race with options of meeting early taking over a pub and having the land lord put the race on TV
Option 3
We meet at 10.30 or 11am. Those that can record the race keep the sports stations off the radio and watch the race when we get back or time depending we head to a pub and ask the landlord to put the highlights on the TV.
Votes please.

2 hours ago, don said:If i don't end up having to work that weekend, count me in!
Will try and bring along a couple of friends in a MK3 & MK4 MX5 if you don't mind cross branding
That's fine with me. I was thinking of inviting a couple of mx5 friends. Might even let the girlfriend bring hers.

With the lack of objections this is the route we will be sticking to.
I will do a recce run early next week to note any potential roadworks and obviously speed cameras and post those up here as well as in the directions on the day.

The proposed route is in the social section of the forum.
Same title as this feed

Morning all
This is my proposal for the route on 2nd October 2016.
Meet either rrg Toyota Macclesfield or tesco depending on numbers.
Take the A573 towards Buxton then the A6 and A6020 to chats worth house either driving through or round the estate.
From chats worth house head towards Chapel en le frith via the A623 passed the chestnut centre and on through Castleton on the A6187.
We will then head to the snake pass Inn for a beverage and sustenance
At the end of the snake make a left turn cutting the corner to the a624 heading to Disley
From Disley take Midhurst Lane then higher Lane to Rainow and back to Macclesfield
TOTAL 89 MILES
APPROXIMATELY 3HOURS OF DRIVING
2 OR 3 STOPS
Opinions please

I'm organising a social drive out around Macclesfield Sunday 2nd October 16.
I'm planning the first route draft this evening. Should anyone have any suggestions for must drive roads which aren't a million miles from Macclesfield let me know.
Cheers

Hi all.
Are there any organised drives coming up in the macclesfield (general northwest) area.
Being new to the scene it would be good to meet afew more gt86 owners company car drivers.
If no organised event is coming up would there be interest iF it was to be organised.
-
Had my recall done on Wednesday just gone at rrg macclesfield while I was in having proper tyres fitted. Thank you Lauren for the yoko recommendation car has great balance now.
The recall took a few hours to sort the work order shows the work costing toyota over £900 so it's a fair bet they are taking this seriously

From my experience I'd say the wear rate is average for the yellow pads.
I've never heard of pfc before.
I've just read some reviews of ferrodo pads they fantastic but at £120 just for a set of front pads isn't crazy.
-
Evening everyone
I'm planning to swap the brakes pad on the gt soon. What do you all rate as the best around pads. I've previously run ebc yellow stuff and mintex on other cars.
90% of the time it will be driven for fun on the road with one maybe two trackdays a year
-
Thanks knight rider and Lauren both seem great options. I've had a reasonable amount of on track tuition in my mx5 so have a basic handle on the basic skills heel and toe and left foot braking etc. I understand weight transfer and helping the car to take a set in a corner.
I want a better grasp of handling at the limit and going beyond it and holding it there. I've already found the gt moves around a lot more than the mx5

I'm replacing all my pads at the end of the month. I've got the choice down to 3 makes.
Ebc yellow stuff. Hawk or cosworth street master.
All of which should have a temperature range good enough for a couple of track days and spirited thrashing around the country side.
Think its going to come down to value for money.
If anyone has run these pads around as a matching set how did they last. All the reviews say they have great stopping power but not much about longevity?
