NA Stage 1 power upgrade ...

Afternoon guys and girls. I was having a think last night and started to ponder whether it would be possible and cost effective to upgrade an NA engine for power gains, like a stage 1 upgrade ... My thoughts are, to get more power you need more air, more fuel and a better spark, so could you potentially upgrade the following parts to gain considerable (maybe 50BHP) power... I was thinking; - Full Manifold back exhaust - UEL header - Some sort of better air intake (not sure on this one, without a turbo how could we improve the air ?) - Upgraded fuel pump - Upgraded, bigger fuel injectors - Some sort of Air/Fuel regulator / Piggy back ECU? - Better gapped spark plugs - A different Thermostat? Could the above actually be worth the investment, am I missing anything? I wanted to get a conversation going, and ask if anyone has actually tried to gain more BHP on a NA engine, with more than just filter, exhaust, remap e.t.c
  2. Hi all, Looking for some advice. I have installed a cat back Scorpion resonated system (https://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/toyota-gt86-2012-2015-resonated-secondary-cat-back-system-daytona), it's quiet which is perfect. I am now looking to get the front pipe, overpipe and manifold done... Now Scorpion does a secondary cat delete and overpipe. (https://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/toyota-gt86-2012-2015-secondary-catalyst-replacement-de-cat) & (https://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/toyota-gt86-2012-2015-downpipe), however, they do not do a manifold... My question is, is it worth getting the other scorpion products to make a complete system and then a different manifold, or is there a better different approach? FYI, I want to keep my Scorpion cat back, this is not changing.

What front pipe and Manifold to have?

There is an exhaust like this! http://www.fi-exhaust.com/product/toyota/86.html I enquired before I purchased mine, I was quoted ''Catback system of Fi exhaust for Toyota GT86 includes: Mid pipe + Valvetronic Muffler + Titanium blue dual Tips with remote controller module, and the price is USD 2,500.'' The local installer in UK is http://eurocharged.uk.com apparently. I didn't pursue it because it's far too expensive.

Hi All, My previous car was a little small and slow, did a large amount of silly modifications, big exhaust, coilovers dropped right down. e.t.c e.t.c But I have now moved on and grown up a little bit. So I'm now part of the gang! The only modification I have done so far is a TarmacSportz strut brace. The paint work is in a terrible state with stone chips and general tiny dents here and there, the previous owner didn't really take much care of the outside! Plans for her so far is very minimal due to warranties and such... How long will that last ? Ryan

What front pipe and Manifold to have?

Yep mines exactly what is on the link. @thetyrant Picture from below the car. The resonated version is extremely quiet compared to other aftermarket exhausts, I have had people make statements of 'Have you actually changed the exhaust?' Which is perfect in my eyes, as I am to change the front pipe, over pipe and manifold at a later date... should mean it's not overly loud when it's all done.

Good stuff! Yep my Scorpion system fits the stock front pipe, I may have to have a look on your website.

Interesting, I wonder if TD do a front pipe which would connect to my Scorpion system...

So the brakes are on, the black didn't stay black for long, but that's okay. After an hour of driving... The brakes are great, I would highly recommend them to anyone, I haven't managed to push them too far yet as only installed a few days ago, but we'll see Little additions too, I have my GT86.org.uk sticker on now, I removed the stars and such, personal preference. It's subtle but readable as you walk past so I'm happy. And finally, I've been looking at the rear lower light for a while now, and how on a black car it just, stands out too much so I wanted to 'flyeye' or 'smoke' it. I couldn't be bothered with the hastle of removing the light (which later on I would realise removal would have been so much easier ), so I decided to go down the template route... I created my template ... Cut the Flyeye out using the template... And viola, the above description makes it sound easy... it wasn't... It was painful! Overall I'm happy with how the car is turning out, next will maybe be alloys, but I like the originals if I'm honest but would like a little more 'poke'. Ryan

Next up, brake upgrade. I have gone for EBC USR Series slotted and vented discs all round, with EBC Greenstuff pads. Toyota wanted £790 for crappy OEM pads and discs that squeel like hell, so this made sense.

  19. Hi all, I have been doing some research recently into getting my car detailed. Now I don't want to spend in excess of £150 which limits my option somewhat. Here are some pictures of how flat my paintwork is... I also have a heap of stone chips on the front bumper but I know I won't get that done too with the above budget. Does anyone know of any local detailers that don't charge the earth and have been tried and tested? Ryan

Car detail - West London area?

Thanks mate, I'll chuck you a PM. I know I'm not holding much hope but you never know! I'd love to learn, I feel on my GT wouldn't be the best starting place.

Very nice, I have had a Scorpion exhaust (cat back) installed, I agree with the deeper but not too loud tone. Just about perfect in my eyes!

    Squealing HELP

I was just about to start a thread regarding this exact issue! I have noticed this on mine too, seems to be coming from the rear left, squeaking when the wheel rotates, but only at lower speeds. My common sense told me something to do with the pad and disk, maybe slightly fouling? Strange!
