  1. Sorry - have not had time to visit the forum for the last week. I have sorted out a GPS unit now. Thanks all.

    Strange rattle from rear

you could jam a bit of tin foil in the gap to check if it makes a difference.

    Which manifold to go for?

Before my GT86 arrived, I was looking at the Ace 4-2-1 header (bit OT as more than you were looking to spend). More recently I have been wondering if I am ever near 4K RPM when really accelerating... that's ~20MPH in 1st, and then you'd never drop the revs that low above about 25MPH? I'm probably wrong though.

Full details of the MY17 BRZ brochure

"The fuel pump has been changed to a DENSO next-generation unit (R/C planned for 16MY)" Fix for chirping, or is this the same "upgraded pump" which some have had & made no difference?

    Info Wanted - Nurburgring 2017

Hotel am Tiergarten was fine (Sabine Schmitz family hotel), and very close to the ring. Weekend got a lot busier than late Friday afternoon. Was also cool to see the track being used for commercial testing before opening to the public on the Friday. Rented GT86s (3 of them) at Cologne airport & drove to the 'ring - that was awesome fun, and the reason I'm getting an 86 now We rented a Golf GTI from RentRaceCar (on-site) - the car was nowhere near the limiting factor for me. We left the TC on, and at one point it definitely saved us when my friend was going "very enthusiastically". DSG shifting was also welcome - there was so much else to concentrate on for me. The rental included insurance, though the excess was massive (4000 euro, IIRC?). No matter how good a driver you are, I'd say crashing is a possibility. Coming round a blind bend to find a wheel which has just been ripped of the car in front was a surprise, for example, and I wouldn't want to split costs 50/50 with a Ferrari driver. If I was to go again, I'd investigate the costs of insurance with a lower excess - perhaps 1000 euro. It's worth taking the time to familiarise yourself on a simulator beforehand - it's nothing like driving it for real, but it's very nice to know what's coming up next and not feel completely lost. I'd recommend Assetto Corsa, but so long as it's not completely wrong anything would be a help. I used Forza on the Xbox (I think), and bought Assetto Corsa setup when I got back so I could keep daydreaming It's one of the most fun things I have ever done, and I would love to do it again. I'd even like to have a go in my old yank classic, but preferably on a day when all the other cars are overpowered & don't handle and their owners are terrified of damaging them!
  6. Does anyone have a copy of the PCP T&Cs? I'm expecting at least a month of lock-in to the agreement, from what I have read of others experience with Toyota PCP. As LarmiqGt says, I'd still keep most of the discount doing this. Moving the loan to a 0% credit card means I can effectively offset that amount against my mortgage - it's not as big a benefit as it used to be, with the interest rates being so low now, but given the amount of money involved it's worth some effort.
  7. Following on from Mark's suggestion - Virgin offer a 1.69% fee for transferring to current accounts; http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/cut-loan-overdraft-costs#virgin32 Same page has MBNA offering 0% fee, but 7.4% APR... my credit history is good, but not sure it's going to be good enough to wrangle two new cards for; 0% balance transfer card -> MBNA no fee -> current account -> PCP I might have to bite the bullet and brave a phone call to the dealer... "Hi, I was just wondering, for no reason at all, if I can pay off the PCP with a credit card?"
  8. Thanks Mark-in-Stoke. Just had a look at the Barclaycard website, they're charging a fee for this "money transfer". Can't find details on their website of how much this is, but MoneySavingExpert's info on Barclaycard suggests it ends up at 2.45%. Better than 4.9% APR for 2 years, but I'd like to know if it's possible to pay off the finance directly with a card and avoid the fees altogether.
  9. Can I settle the PCP finance agreement early using a credit card? Car is on order, but I don't have any terms & conditions for the finance yet - dealer says this will only come once they have a chassis number. I am wondering if I can take advantage of the £1k PCP "deposit contribution", then move the loan to an interest free credit card for a couple of years. I suspect I may not be allowed to pay off with a credit card, or there will be a large fee for doing so.
