    Info Wanted - Nurburgring 2017

Been away for a week or so, so apologies for my late reply to this! Thanks Don, that was a really good video, makes the 'ring feel a lot less intimidating. it's also good to see the surrounding areas, to get a feel for it all. Appreciate the input!

Open Day Spring 2016 @ Tuning Developments 27/03

Ah great stuff, and thanks for the quick reply [emoji4] put me down as coming then (unless anything blows up before then lol). Dedication blog in attendance? Stage 4 turbo you say? Guess I'll have to come along and see this, and of course check out the fabled blue wrap, and the hydraulic handbrake that seemingly isn't connected to anything [emoji23] [emoji23]. Edit: Bugger, forgot I'd already made arrangements for this weekend... Guess I can't make it after all [emoji20]

    Info Wanted - Nurburgring 2017

Thanks again Lauren, I've checked my dates and I can definitely make that day, so I'm going to get it booked on payday, I paid for my membership on this forum last night (unsure if it went through okay), it glitched out a little bit but my paypal says the funds went through. No apologies needed, any information is welcomed whether a repeat or not, we all have different versions to tell! It's good to see where people have stayed so I can get a feel for the best hotels to use etc. the general consensus still remains that track days should be done first, so I'll start with Blyton and then work my way up a little, just hope the little 86 can take all the abuse a track day can bring, I guess it's what the car was built for in a way so you'd hope so! I appreciate the input. It's interesting that there's no sort of safety briefing there at all, but I guess how can you when there are so many people. Makes it hit home even more that I need experience!

    Info Wanted - Nurburgring 2017

Thanks so much Lauren, really appreciate you taking the time out to write that, I've just taken a look at the Blyton track day and decided I'll go for that one. I've been to Blyton before with Celica Club, only spectating but I managed to get a few laps as a passenger with some of the experienced guys so I got to learn the track a little. I think that'll be perfect for me! My biggest concern is indeed other people, so definitely a public track day at one of the shows is just a no go. I suppose the other aspect of it is I don't want to get in the way of other people having a good time. If I'm slower than everyone else, I don't want to get in the way. But everyone's got to learn sometime right? My bosses go on track days all the time (work for a company making race data logging and digital dash's) and as far as I know, none of them have had an accident. I think one of them has been to Cadwell, it looks like great fun! I'd quite fancy giving Donington a try as well, although I wonder if it might be a little too technical for a novice with it having various elevations and stuff. Thanks for that Rich! Some great information in there. I was planning to take the euro tunnel I think, just makes more sense. The insurance thing I was aware about, but not the liabilities with regards to barrier replacement and track closure time. That brings it all into perspective. I should definitely gain some track experience before I head over!

    Info Wanted - Nurburgring 2017

Thanks for the comprehensive replies guys. I actually have no track experience what so ever, so yes in thinking about it chucking myself in at the deep end probably isn't the best option. I'll look to get a few track days in this year to familiarize myself. from videos you see on youtube and the like it doesn't seem all that scary, I guess when you're actually there it all gets a little real! I have to admit I'm a little nervous about track days in general. Not so much my driving just everyone elses. I know how much talent I have behind the wheel (not much) but other people on circuit would unnerve me. Perhaps I should start with a club trackday, that way I know who's around me and what to expect. you all certainly haven't put me off, but made me realise I do need to do some homework and preparation before I head over to the 'ring. Thanks guys!

Hi Everyone, Just this minute signed up to this forum, I hope I get to know all of you over the coming years of owning my absolutely stunning Red GT86 that I took delivery of last Monday. I traded in my gorgeous Thunder Grey Celica GT pictured below, for a taste of life in an 86. I miss that car so much, I've had such an awesome time owning it, and met a load of great people over on Celica Club UK - A forum I still have membership to. But the time was right to move on to pastures new. the decision to buy the 86 has been the best I've ever made, but at the same time the worst, as it meant saying goodbye to an amazing car. Time to reveal the reason I'm here in this forum. She's absolutely perfect. 2014 model with barely run in mileage, part leather red interior which just goes so well with the red paint I think. Whilst I was looking around at what was on the market I saw a few with the red interior and from the photo's I really didn't like it at all, especially the red trim on the steering wheel, handbrake, gear knob etc. But as soon as I saw this one I fell in love with it. Took her for a drive and I was sold. After a week of ownership I'm getting to grips with things a lot more and starting to feel comfortable with the car, which is only helping to further my love for the car! Clutch work is still a bit hit and miss, but I'm sure I'll get there! Thanks for taking the time out to read what is probably the first post of many from me. All the best, Sam

    Installed - OEM Armrest

Cheers mate, Yeah as Rob says it's the genuine Toyota one. I was seriously concerned about drilling holes into the centre console. But once I got down to it, it was so easy! You just need to take your time and make sure the template is stuck in the correct place. As long as the holes were marked in the correct place you can't go wrong!

    Mugshots

Suppose I should add to this, Here's me (on the left) when we got caught checking over Jeff Ludgates drag Skyline at Fast Show 2015. And here's the 86 after a wash..

Who is the tallest driver here?

6'4 for me, so far so good. The 86 seats are much more comfortable than my gen 7 celica seats. I also have part leather.

    I love this car!

That is all... In all seriousness though I really love this car. The more I drive it, the more confident I get and the better the car seems to become. Just had a real epiphany today when I was driving where everything just seemed to click, the looks, the noise, the handling, the sweetness of the gearchange.. The car really seems to have it's own character! I really cannot believe I own such a great car, all my hard work has paid off And of course being a member of this great forum! In other news, my first issue of Hyper Rev has arrived! Now of course, I can't actually tell you what any of it says, but I can, and will, look at the pictures!

    I love this car!

Now it all makes sense! That last one is very useful, I've never been able to do it right... Always end up looking like a panda.. [emoji23]

    My first mod... Sort of

Do optional extras count as a mod? If so I'm in the right place! Had my lovely new armrest delivered today from Toyota GB All I'm gonna say is I wish I'd read the instructions to install it before I bought it... Not sure I like the idea of drilling holes into my, at the moment perfect interior. But it should be an awesome addition, should finish off the centre tunnel nicely. Shame they weren't on from standard though!

    My first mod... Sort of

That looks great, goes really well with the full leather!

    My first mod... Sort of

To be honest church I think I'm gonna ditch it also once the armrest is installed. Like you say the door pockets are more than up to the task! And if I'm honest, I may have a slight panic attack if someone tried to drink in my car anyway... Hahaha Would anyone be kind enough to post up some installed pictures so I can get an idea of how it looks in the flesh rather than some marketing photos from Toyota themselves?

    My first mod... Sort of

Awesome mate, I'll definitely be giving it a go following the instructions. It doesn't seem like there's much to go wrong (he says). Just gotta wait till Monday to get the template printed off. Reminds me I should really invest in a printer...

    My first mod... Sort of

This is the main reason I bought it, the centre console just never looked quite finished, and of course it stops me from ending up with my elbow in the cup holder! [emoji23]. I'm really happy with the quality of it, like you say it just fits the interior perfectly! I do agree though, the side opening is strange. There are two cup holders in the centre after all...you'd have thought it would be made easier for both driver and passenger to get to it.
  19. Knighty

    My first mod... Sort of

Yeah it's a little poor that the fitting instructions weren't packaged with it, or even just the template you need would do. I'll give it a go following them though!
  20. Knighty

    My first mod... Sort of

I thought about asking the dealer to be honest... But the instructions seem really well documented so I think it should be fine!

    My first mod... Sort of

I'm not actually sure, as far as I'm aware it was only ever available as an option on its own.

Awesome, wasn't worried at all. Just trying to remember to work around it, was slowing down this morning while I waited for a car coming the other way so I could get round a car, went to downshift and couldn't get it in , but like you say couple minutes later, went in no problem! I'm around on the 23rd! lets make this happen! That is all that matters! I actually had the pleasure of being on track at blyton park a couple of years ago when the Fensport 86 was out there, damn that thing is quick, although a friends supercharged Gen 7 was able to keep up pretty well considering, think he was putting out about 343bhp at the time. She's late 5000 now so plenty of miles on her to open the taps up, problem being it's the newest car I've ever owned, the small number on the odometer confuses me! Hahaha
