    Passenger window fault

Hi all, My passenger window has an intermittent fault. Last Friday I opened the window using the drivers side switch and the window stuck half way down. I couldn't get it to move from the drivers side switch of from the passenger side. I booked the car in with a local Toyota dealership and sods law, on the way there the window started working again but only on the passenger switch. I described the issue to the dealership and the carried out some investigation and a 'full window re-set' whilst I got used to the lack of power from an Aygo courtesy car. I picked the car up a day later and the window worked until Tuesday afternoon when it would not go down. I have spoken to the service manager at the dealership and he is baffled as to what the issue is although we both concluded it has both times it has occurred it has been a frosty day. I was wondering if the following has occurred to anyone here? Also, I didn't enjoy driving the Aygo, am I within my rites to only settle with a GT86 courtesy car? Thanks Ollie
  2. Hi, I have edited the original post but the price has been reduced to £14,595.00
  3. I have been considering selling the GT86, mainly for the reason that I crave more power and due to getting married and moving house in the next month, cannot justify the cost of forced induction. It is very likely I will own another GT86 in the future but for now, my decision is to sell. £14595.00 Located St Albans, Hertfordshire More images here: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/toyota/gt-86/toyota-gt86-gt1-d-4s-2012/6014766?v=c 2012 Toyota GT86 2.0L,Manual Gearbox Petrol 24,000 Miles I am the second owner MOT October 2017 Keyless entry FSH, Pearl White - the best colour! Air Conditioning

Hi all. My aircon is not blowing cold so I took it to QuickFit to get a re-gas. QuickFit couldn't do it as their 'nozzle wouldn't fit' so after some reading on here it looks like I have the expensive gas. Neither of my local dealerships have the right gas but Milton Keynes will pick my car up from home, give me a courtesy car and do it for £260. Is that a good price? QuickFit also managed to damage my under tray when the car came off their lift and didn't tell me, which was nice of them. It has to go back next week for the a new under tray to be fitted at their cost.. You can't get shitter than a QuickFit fitter.

    GT86 Value

I am wondering if prices of GT86 have dropped much is the last 6 months or so? I paid £16,500 (Toyota Northampton) for my 2012 Pearl White one owner 17k car in November, I wonder what it would fetch now as a private sale with 20k on clock. I'm not selling (although has crossed my mind) but would be interested in hearing opinions.. The '86 isn't getting as much use as I thought but it is a 'third' car for me. Also crossing my mind is a Supercharger upgrade but would have to wait until after my wedding is September. Cheers Ollie
  7. Not one sniff of interest. Poor advert? Over priced?

Do you know if this was the 1234y gas? If so, which dealership did you go to?

    Air Conditioning

I only switched mine on for the first time in April.. I did test it when I bought the car but the test drive was on a freezing cold day... so it may not have worked then either. My local dealership network are adamant that it is not a warranty claim unless a leak is found. They have to pressure test the system when it is re-filled so I guess I'll find out then anyway. I need to get it done soon as I'm driving it to Spa for the GP in a few weeks and then up to Amsterdam. Thanks for the offer of room, very kind. I really must visit you guys when I get the opportunity. Not this month though. This next 3- days I will be mainly moving house, then stag do, them wedding, then honeymoon.

Another update.. they are now reducing re-gas cost to £153.00+VAT which is the price they are charged by a local independent air-con company.

Okay, thanks for the replies. I will ask them to look at it on a warranty basis. The price quoted was actually £235 for a re-gas. Has anyone had experience of a warranty claim for a re-gas, specifically with the 1234y gas? Is there a quoted period for how long the gas should last? My car is a 62 plate.
  12. I can't make my mind up on what aftermarket wheels to buy but if any forum members have a set they are looking to sell, please feel free to let me know. Also looking for a white passenger wing mirror (long shot I know) after picking up some minor damage on mine. thanks! Ollie

    Hi from Leicester

A familiar username! Welcome along and enjoy the '86. I think there are at least half a dozen ex and current AW11 owners on here now, good stuff.
  14. If you're looking to 'get into drifting' , I'd suggest buying a mk2 mx5 with a factory lsd and try that first rather than starting with a £15k - £25k gt86. If you do a UK drift day in your own car, you'll be mixing it with £500 bangers with welded diffs spinning left right and centre. You won't find many or any gt86s at public drift days. An alternative would be to do a drifting experience in a car provided to you. I help run Drift Limits in Hertfordshire and we have a good variety of cars to try out, from mx5's to V8 Silvias and a 1.2kilometre circuit with 1:1 tuition is provided. GT86's drift very well indeed of course but unless you have deep pockets, is not the best 'starter' car for someone who has no experience of drifting. In regards to the original question , personally I think you'd be mad to buy an auto over a manual for the purposes of getting into drifting.

    The Wheels Thread

I've been offered some oz prodrive wheels which are 17" X 7" and +52mm. Any thoughts? Ideally I want something wider and lighter than standard. Can't seem to find weights on these.
  16. Sorry if it has been asked but have you considered putting back to standard and selling the mods separately? Ollie

    Passenger window fault

Sorted it! ^ Thanks. once things have thawed out enough you can reset the mechanism by holding down both window switches on the drivers side for a good 10 secs (making sure the child window lock isn't on) and then holding them up for a good 10 secs and you should find everything gets reset and starts to work again properly. I'm surprised the dealership didn't know about this trick.

    Fixed back bucket seats

A good specialist (ie modification friendly) insurer would not load your premium for a change of seats. The specialist insurer I worked for for 6 years would usually only load if you went the whole hog and stripped everything out and fitted a roll cage. A standard insurer (ie the likes of companies you would find one comparethemarket would most likely be unable to accommodate the modification and may cancel your policy if the you stated the seats were already fitted.

    Another Newbie

Hi all, my name is Ollie, I'm aged 34 and from St Albans, Hertfordshire. I'm looking into buying a GT86 in the nearish future. I am a huge Toyota fan, current owner of a turbo converted AW11 MR2 which I use regularly, another AW11 which sits in my garage awaiting the current one to die and past owner of a variety of other Toyota models, Corolla G6R, Corolla T Sport, Celica GT4 and at least a dozen MR2s. I've followed the GT86 from concept to present day and after attending JAE and chatting to Lauren at the weekend, owning one is becoming an itch which needs scratching! I'm already looking around but most likely will leave it a while, certainly until the right one comes along. I'll be buying used, budget of around £15k, must be manual, the lower the mileage the better, white, red or grey. Thanks! Ollie

RWYB Santa Pod - Sunday 28th Feb 2016

Please put me down as a maybe but I'll bring the AW11 rather than the '86. I really want to get it into the 12's this year which should be possible as it's running more boost than ever.
