It has made the noise intermittently for more than a year. Fuel is always good quality. If life of the fuel pump is only 20,000 miles, Subaru make some poor quality parts.

Interesting comment about the fuel pump. For more than a year I've been getting an intermittent noise whilst idling which sounds like a sort of belt problem noise. I took it to a dealership before the first lockdown and they said they thought it was the fuel pump. Is the noise intermittent for those saying it is due to Ethanol or is it always there?

I was under the impression that although the default setting was that the passenger door does not unlock when the driver's door unlocks with keyless entry, this was configurable. I'm picking up the car on Monday but the dealer thinks this is not possible and you need to press a button on the driver's door to unlock the passenger door. Can anyone confirm what the case is?

Probably some of you will be horrified by this, but I just got my car re-gassed at Halfords autocentre. The Aircon had been non-existant for a while so I asked them to check it (they found a valve stuck open, which they replaced) and then got them to regas. Gas alone is £110 but I also paid £29 for the diagnosis, but still a lot cheaper than Toyota/Subaru. I'll post again if I find the gas has all gone again.

Has this been massively reduced? I thought previously the going rate was more than £200?

I want to paint a few of the parts on my other car in gloss black (originally black but faded over time to grey). Part of the area I need to paint is at the bottom of the bumper so the paint needs to be hard wearing (sprayed it a couple of years back but some has come off showing the grey).

I think my car can go about 2 weeks without usage. Had to recharge the battery twice this year. The first time it was totally dead and the 2nd time it had power but not enough to turn over the engine. Yesterday it barely started having been unused for about 12 days. Not sure if this is due to not using the car for long enough journeys or the battery is on its way out, either way, disappointing. Battery in our 9 year old Dodge is still going strong.

Wish this was the final production model.

I had a dent on my door recently (looks like someone opened their door into it). I found a paintless repair place but due to the location of the dent they couldn't repair it. I got a quote from chipsaway, a local garage and also the Xpress centre found at some Tescos. Xpress was the cheapest and went with them, very happy with the results.

Exclusivity. If you specifically want a BRZ and new prices increase, makes sense that 2nd hand prices will get a bump.

I wonder if this will help with 2nd hand prices? (i.e. more for sellers)

Had same problem with some of the TVRs. Griffith and Cerbera were the only models I could get some level of comfort in with a couple of others almost impossible to get into, let alone get a comfy seating position. Probably need to try something like a Mustang as that will no doubt cater for the taller person.

Over the last 4 years I've tried every possible seat configuration and there is no perfect setup for me. My legs are quite long (36" trousers size) and although I have tried moving the seat forwards, it isn't long before I want more space and then want to move the seat back. With the seat furthest back, feel like the steering wheel is slightly too far away to be fully comfortable but unfortunately this is the best compromise. Because of my size, my legs needs to be angled however the seat is positioned meaning my thighs never properly rest on the seat so I am not comfortably supported. Ideally I'd be able to raise the seat height but then my head will touch the roof. Simple conclusion is that the car is best suited to shorter people.

Hardly. I have two other cars (a Dodge Journey and an A6) and for both of those the steering wheel comes back to the ideal position when I have the seat back as far as I want. My previous car (325i coupe) also allowed this. In comparison to any other modern car, the seating positioning of the BRZ is very limited. Not talking about for using on track days, just for normal use - when I have the seat back as far as it goes I would like to be able to bring the steering wheel back further.

Seen it, but seems like an expensive option for something that should really be in the car as standard.

I would love it if the steering wheel had more adjustment. I have the seat back as far as it goes and feel that you can't really bring the steering wheel forwards as much as you can in other cars.

Hah. Not had a lock for about 30 years. Used to have a crook-lock in my Ford Capri. Happy to report it was never stolen, but that may have to do more with the car being a pile of junk. Never had a steering lock since and also none of the cars have been stolen...

As everyone has said, just do it online. I got my car new with my private plate and took it off a year or so ago when I was thinking of getting rid of the car and a new plate number was issued (didn't even put it on, paid again to put my private plate back on).

I'm sure we all would have loved a car like this when we were 18, he is just living the dream. I agree though that 2K per year for insurance does border on ridiculous, but the younger generation do love their instant gratification! Having said that, when I was 18 I had a Ford Capri so I suppose I'd also be looking for something sporty as an 18 year old in 2018. But I would not have had anything like 2k per year for insurance and my Capri cost me about the same as one year of 3rd party, fire & theft.

I will have to keep the stock exhaust, changing it is not an option as my head can't deal with any decibel increase. I know putting my foot down will increase fuel usage, but my question really was whether under normal running (i.e. not excessive right foot usage) fuel usage would remain similar. Fortunately you won't have to drive my next car so it should be OK. [emoji4]

From what I read, the Cosworth super charger with stock exhaust is 240bhp which I think will be slower than the 280bhp Giulia. I found the Giulia more comfortable too.

I've been thinking about the Supercharger because I feel the BRZ needs a fair bit more power. The problem I have is that I can't change the exhaust because my head can't cope with anything louder than stock. Not sure if anyone can answer this but interested to know whether the Supercharger has any significant impact on noise (even with a standard exhaust) as I can't risk an expensive upgrade that loses me money through scrapping or selling the car due to it becoming unusable. That aside, are there increased maintenance costs and will I notice a decrease in MPG through normal driving? The other thing I'm considering is just trading the car next year either for a 2.3 Mustang or a 280HP Alfa Giulia.
