Telephone preference service is still probably your best bet. The details of your accident have probably been sold on to a company that then sells them to these accident chasers. Tracking down all these companies individually is probably going to be nigh on impossible but joining the TPS means unsolicited companies shouldn't phone you.

    Already registered with TPS.  :(

They probably don't know anything about your accident to be honest. I used to get these calls all the time and have never had an accident! I opted in to the telephone preference service which stopped most of them. There is still one company that occasionally (now illegally) calls me so I just waste their time if I can be bothered (agree I've had an accident and then when asked to recount the details run through scenes from things like Fast and Furious. It usually takes them a while to cotton on) or I just hang up.

Thing is they know the date of the accident and the make and model of car I was driving so they're getting these details from somewhere, I just don't know where.

  3. Hi All

Most of you will be aware that I crashed my GT86 on-track back in May last year. I didn't have trackday insurance so paid for all the repairs out of my own pocket. Ever since that day i am getting calls at least once per day indicating that my details are on some kind of central database and that I am entitled to statutory compensation put aside for all accident victims that doesn't require me to do anything other than agree to claim it.

My personal understanding is that these companies are all just planning to get me to agree so they can lodge a claim against a 3rd Party, who, in this case, doesn't exist as there's no track liability. I am fed up of being called by these vultures and I am just looking for some kind of "out". Is there some way I can contact my old insurer and get them to amend the details on whatever "central insurance database" to indicate that there's no liability and to stop me getting called? This is becoming a real hassle and short of changing my number I don't know what else I can do!

    Love it!

Takes the piss for someone not being prepared for snow owning a RWD GT86 that we all know is going to be crap in the snow, and the snow was coming. Then moans that their GT86 which we all knew was 200hp before buying one, gets smashed on the dual carriageway as 200hp isn't enough.

    Oh the irony.

Hey I still love the car with 200bhp, it's taught me a lot about driving and is great fun to drive. But I'm now at the point where it's power deficiency is becoming a sore spot. And I have owned it for 2.5 years at this point, it's not like it was an overnight realisation!

  5. I appreciate that the man has a blueprint in his head, but 200bhp just isn't enough. I got smashed on the dual carriageway by a Fiesta ST the other day, the way this car looks and handles it could have easily coped with 280-300bhp and been a lot more competitive to drive. Those out there who have modified their cars with turbos/superchargers are proof the chassis can handle it and that the "additional weight" doesn't suddenly ruin the car.

  6. Just to say, no-one got "caught out" by the snow. The predicted weather conditions were well advertised and if you failed to prepare for them by taking out your RWD sports car in the snow without winter tyres or a suitable "plan B" it's not the fault of your throttle map but more the person in the driver's seat.

Sorted out the last bent bit on the front end today and got the rear lights buttoned up.

Going to replace this part of the arch I removed and then hopefully the horizontal bit coming off the chassis leg shouldnt be too far out

Got the pins swapped out on the rear lights and they work now too! Tried to fit the fog light but its a total pain to get to with the OEM exhaust in the way and the bolts for it being so rusty.

Does anyone know the legality of having the V come on with the headlights? The Triangle is still very bright so should pass as a fog light okay.

As shown in the picture is fine, quite a few members have theirs modded like that.

As long as you can switch the triangle on and off to act as the fog light you're fine.

    Do you think they will?

A stock wheel is 7" and ET48 - so the new wheel is half an inch wider or ~10mm, cut that down the middle and you are talking 5mm wider from centre. Does that not mean with 6mm less offset it will essentially have the same position of the face of the wheel as stock?

I could easily have that totally wrong! I can also see that a bigger offset would be desirable to push the wheel out from the stock position.

I consider the stock wheels to be extremely tucked yes.
