    MartinT's BRZ

Assuming the PS5 continues the theme, I'll probably stick with the Michelins. I'll take predictable, progressive break away over ultimate outright grip, any day. But I've a little while before I need new tyres, so I'll still be interested in how your experience develops with the F1s.

    MartinT's BRZ

I'd like to hear your impressions of the Goodyears on wet roads. I had F1s on a couple of previous cars, and on one they were fine, but on the other I found them a bit "snappy" in the wet.

After covid lockdowns and such, my service intervals are all screwy anyway. But I'd guess we're using similarly decent oil, so an extra few k's won't worry things....

    Possible GT86/BRZ Newbie

If you give an indication of where you're based, there may well be a forum member local to you willing to let you have a seat and a poke around at their car, without the pressure of involving a salesman/seller.

    Steering Rack Braces

I've got the Cusco ones, and I rate them. The difference is small and subtle, but I do feel there's more feel around the straight-ahead position, the initial turn in gives a bit more feedback. YMMV, obviously! What I originally wanted was the Perrin Steering rack lockdown bushes, but they are only available for LHD cars.

    MartinT's BRZ

Since I moved house, my weekly car miles have really plummeted, so I would say a higher percentage of my driving time is driving "with enthusiasm"... and yet, strangely, my average mpg is also showing 32.5 mpg. I wonder if Mark somehow pegs the computer at that, just to make us feel better about the blower!

    MartinT's BRZ

Cool, thanks. I've had good experiences using high power coils on old skool, distributor based ignition systems before, but at least some purveyors of "internet wisdom" claim it's not worth it with COP packs unless pushing big power. Good to hear that's not the case. Another thing for my shopping list, and "little" job for Abbey at some point!

Martin, I'm interested in your experience with the uprated coils. Do you think the the improved driveability is down to the uprated coils, or just due to new items vs old/tired originals? Cheers!

While still running "low" enough power for the stock injectors to cope, I would doubt the stock pump is running out of juice, either. Willing to be proven wrong, though!

I'll be very interested in hearing if the coil packs make any noticeable difference. I've heard varying claims about the stock coils - some say they're fine, others that they are weak (even for stock cars).

    Touch'n'Go wiring diagram

Does any have, or know where I can see, a wiring diagram/connector pin-out for the (2015) Touch'n'Go with nav head unit? I'm mainly interested in the 16 pin and 28 pin connectors, but would value the rest, too. I've seen information dotted around, not info that gives me confidence that it's canon. Cheers, Chris

    Touch'n'Go wiring diagram

I know I need the reverse signal, I probably don't need the parking brake signal, but it would be nice to connect it, rather than have a dangling wire, I've got an Android head unit to go in, and I was just interested if there were any other signals/inputs worth paying attention to (beyond what's in the ISO harness adaptor).

    Touch'n'Go wiring diagram

See, this is what I mean by finding it hard to gather canonical info, because according to the thread to which you linked above, the reverse gear signal is pin 2 on the 28 pin connector, and only the camera signal is on the 16 pin connector. (I was also interested in knowing where the parking brake signal is, which I think is on the 16 pin connector).

    Touch'n'Go wiring diagram

Thanks, I had seen that, but it only really covers the connectors that match up to the ISO adapter harnesses. I'm not bothered about the nav aspect, but the reversing camera, parking brake signal etc, those things are spread across the 28 and 16 pin connectors (as far as I can tell!). I think I've got the pins I need, but I'm finding it difficult to be sure!

    Mtec clutch spring

That's exactly what I did, and very nearly packed up when I realised the situation. But stubbornness and lockdown boredom (I did it back in May) made me go ahead. And, like I said, I found it far less onerous a job than I feared. If you're not too far from me, and if The Rules allow it when you want to do it, I'd be happy to lend a hand.

    Mtec clutch spring

The transmission tunnel is in the way of getting to the C clip for the clutch retaining pin, and even if you could get the pin off, you couldn't get anything in to press the pin out.

    Mtec clutch spring

I also got mine from TD. You definitely have to take the pedal assembly off (right hand drive!), but it's not nearly as scary as it sounds. It took me about two hours, including a short break for rain, a short break for coffee, and accidentally pulling out the wrong spring clip. I removed the clip for the brake pedal, then wondered why the clutch wouldn't move. This guide is pretty good: how to install MTEC clutch spring upgrade in right hand drive BRZ GT86 86 FRS The only thing I would add is that, if you can, get a second pair of hands to help line up the clutch pedal assembly with the bulkhead holes when refitting. That was the one bit of the process that really gave me a headache - damned thing kept slipping.

Can these dents be fixed? How?

Try to find a reputable paintless dent repairer - the good ones can work wonders. I speak from experience! Someone thought it would be clever to walk over my car a few years ago - dented the boot, bonnet and roof - the roof dents even had slight creases in the metal. Looking at the car now, you'd never guess it was damaged, never mind the nature of the damage! If you post what part of the country you're in, someone might chip-in with a recommendation.

    Jordan aka Smudge

I'm shocked, really shocked. I also never met him, but his posts always came across with good humour and enthusiasm. My deepest condolences go out to his nearest and dearest.
  20. Long shot, but does anyone want to sell, or know where there might be for sale, a GT86, galaxy blue (E8H), right front wing, in usable condition? Thanks

    Fuel Coffee Meet

Really sorry I missed it, but I just ended up with too much I had to catch up on. Hopefully, next time!

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

Very cool, thanks for that. I've a (long!) pending house move, but I think I'll be adding a set of Quickjacks to the shopping list after that move is behind me.

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

I'm really enjoying the project thread Sam, and the YT videos. I did want to ask, now you've worked with them for a while, how are you finding the Quickjack lifts? Cheers, Chris
