  1. This is what I was talking about at the Curry a couple of weeks ago. It's my understanding that it may or may not work depending on what CAN signals the manufacturer is exposing on the bus, and in that respect Subaru and Toyota expose different things. So although it might work on the GT86, it might not work on a BRZ. Yes. Lets hope that GT6 adds Angersea or Donington as extra content in the future

    GT6 Anybody?

Because Polyphony have a history of missing release dates. By miles. I can see why Sony wouldn't risk PS4 launch on a title which may or may not actually appear at launch.

Sarah has a hair appointment on Saturday morning, so we won't be up until the early evening. Might go and have a look on Sunday morning instead.

    BRZ Crossover

I think it's an interesting thing, looks a bit too high imo (less Forester, more Impreza). Really liking the matt grey paint job :+:

    Winter tyres

I've had too many arguments with verges and kerbs while avoiding busses in and around the Warwickshire countryside to worry about that now

    Winter tyres

Why would you put that in quotes? Of course I can only speak from my experience. I did plenty of miles on them last winter in the wet, damp, snow and generally miserable weather and I didn't really find them wanting. Also, I'm not quite convinced that nobody ever got stuck while wearing winter tyres (where the tyres alone would have made a difference). What I am saying is that IMHO it's not always worthwhile changing tyres for winter. If you want to do it, I'm not going to say it's a waste of time, but the standard tyres aren't that bad. I was in Eastleigh last year around Christmas (doing loads of miles ploughing up and down the M3 / A31) and then around the Farnborough / Farnham / Odiham area, and when the snow came down it was still driveable. Certainly a lot more driveable than my old Exige in the snow.

    Winter tyres

Speaking from experience of the snow last year, the standard tyres weren't really all that bad.

    BRZ Crossover

I think I was more of a fan of the shooting brake idea than a jacked up BRZ..

    Another week, another service

I found last winter that the standard tyres were ok once you got some warmth into them - the rears more so than the fronts. One reasonably quick get away seemed to do the trick. I'm not going down the route of winter tyres, they were ok last winter apart from in heavy snow where anything else would have struggled equally. Plus I don't have a spare set of wheels.
  19. Hey everybody,Bit of an eventful week this week. Monday morning the car was gently tagged from behind in rush hour traffic. Left a tiny impression on the rear bumper (on the black plastic) nothing too bad.Went for another service on Friday at Toyota in Guildford - (I think it might be the 4th service the car has now had? losing track already ) since the car now has ~29k on the clock. All clear, no damage from the incident on Monday and nothing else wrong at all. 14 months in, still loving it. 2 days at Anglesey, 1 & 1/2 days at the ring and driven to Italy and back.. and a couple of miles done around the UK. Still on the original tyres (5/4/4 at the front, 4/3/3 at the back) and original brakes (fronts 75% worn, rears 50% worn). Just awesome :+:

    Another week, another service

Yeah, it's done pretty good on the tyres. TBH, lots and lots of that mileage has been done on Motorways, which would seem to be pretty easy on the rears. It's been driven sideways on track a bit, but the time it spent at Anglesea (2 days) were really to see how the brakes stood up to abuse and also for my other half to get used to driving it on track in preparation for the day and a half at the ring. End of the month soon, then it'll get some new boots :+:

    are these things normal?

With the idle issue, if you can just set the car running and let it idle for a while and see what happens. My one would eventually throw the check engine light. When I took it to Toyota at least they had the smarts to think - it's an idling problem, lets let it just idle for 15 minutes and see what happens (rather than taking it for a drive?!). They should be able to check if you've got the latest ECU version as well.
