Key fob playing up

So I went to the car yesterday, and this morning and was faced with the same problem. The car won't unlock! 

The car just doesn't respond to any of the buttons being pressed, not even with the spare key. 

If I open the door manually with the key, the alarm goes off! The ignition starts fine, but obviously the engine doesn't because of the immobiliser. 

After pressing the unlock button rapidly on my normal fob and the spare the car eventually unlocked. Now I just darent lock the car in case I can't get back in it, but with a few burglaries happening recently the area, the last thing I want to do is leave it unlocked! 

With the key starting the car completely fine, I cant see it being the fob battery. 

Also, the car battery was flat a few days ago, but was charged up and then I faced this problem

Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Sounds like the fob battery to me, may as well replace it, it's easy enough.

Just a coincidence that both the spare and used fob battery's die at the same time? 

Also, do they need coding once replaced?

@Eddyf93 Mine died at the same time as well! So it's likely, they don't need coding no.

Awesome, I'll look in to it! 

So is the alarm going off when opening the car manually a normal thing? Just seems strange to me

My alarm went off at JAE despite having someone sitting in it with the key and the ignition on... so the alarm going off is probably normal!
