Guest Report post Posted January 1, 2015 As some of you will know, I have recently bought a set of Carrillo rods for my project. I specified the more expensive Carrs bolts just as that extra bit of insurance. I bought them from Abbey, as they gave the best prices out there!! If you don't know what stretching rod bolts is all about, look here and all will become clear..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxW7TJTWoOYOK, we have a problem... the Carrillo rods have blind holes, so you can't get a stretch gauge onto the threaded end of the bolt. Has anyone come across this issue before? I've mailed Carrillo but have not yet received a reply.
Guest Report post Posted January 7, 2015 So, after some back and forth emails from Mark at Abbey, we finally got this sorted. It would have been nice if Carrillo had replied to my mail, but they didn't!! As it turns out, Carrillo state that I should use the max recommended torque of 58lb/ft. So, we really should stretch the bolts a known amount, but if the Todd have blind holes, we can't. I'm happy, but only because I have the best rods out there, with the best bolts. Check out the MRT vids on YouTube, they won't use anything else now after issues with other brands of rod!!
