  1. I might check that out especially as the SRF is pretty expensive stuff. And the race car is a whatsit to bleed up!

So, 2 1/2 tanks of fuel and a set of yellows later a good time was had by all! :-)

The yellows were fine as far as braking performance goes. Felt good, on it straight away, didn't fade over decent stints.

However they only just lasted the day, although if I hadn't bothered with the wrap around anti squeal things I'd had almost another couple of mm and another session. ;)

Still back to the hardly worn originals with over 30k miles left on them :)

  2. My comment was around some special coating that was on them to make work on the first press to partially combat what you describe. Something they don't have on the blue or orange stuff which I'm normally used to. I was curious how good that was.

I did my normal bedding in anyway, which is why I can't be sure how they developed because as you say I eased them in at first.

My preferred brake fluid is Castrol SRF, or whatever they call it now. Although the GT86 has standard in it, so I shall limit the stint lengths.

  3. Thanks for this thread. It made the job very quick as I had the correct sized spanner and sockets ready. Thanks.

By calliper rewind tool, I assume you mean piece of wood and screwdriver? ;-)

It is a very easy job.

I've put yellow stuff on, so we shall see. I shall let you know how I got on. I went EBC because I could get them quick for a track day. Although the last set of EBC I had were blue (different car) and they were gone after two stints at Oulton. I think they must have been faulty as all the material had gone and a piston punched a hole in the metal backing!

They feel good so far. A short test drive showed the 'brake in' coating they have meant they worked from the start. Although I thought they got worse after the initial few presses and then got better again. I might have imagined this though.

The car has done 8,000 miles and the original pads were hardly worn, which bodes well. Is that normal, does anyone else experience low pad wear? Pro rate these look good for 40,000miles. It's not a motorway car.

  4. Ah, makes more sense :-)

Oulton, a top circuit. Last October I had a brake pad fail. Piston punched a hole in pad! Luckily it happened at a quick corner that didn't need much braking!

  5. Welcome Adam, lets have a mini meet at Mallory :)

Good that Mallory is back up and running. Is there a full compliment of track days there this year? The race calendar looks fairly full - I'm there with the Classic Sportscar Club in August.

Ahah. Good thing I don't put my location down as Green Bay then. :-)

So we will get to meet you, sooner or later.

    Cheers

Packers look good, if Aaron Rodgers is fit.

  6. I got my car just before Christmas. Went for it because I liked the small tyres, simplicity and great turn in.

It's the usual red, with Sat Nav and leather - I wasn't chasing the options, but it was an ex demo so came cheap.

Looking forward to taking it on the track. It looks like quite a few people here enjoy that. :-)

  7. I can report the kettle technique worked very well for me.. I only removed the TOYOTA badge. I had a hot air blower on stand by, but didn't need it. Polish was good enough to remove the residue of gunk.

Thinking about taking the GT86 badge off too. Not sure.

    More importantly, hello everyone.
