  1. Thanks, much appreciated.
  2. Hi Faith, I really, really like the look of your shiney knob (phnarrr phnarrr ) and really fancy a gunmetal one. However, in the pictures it actually looks taller than OEM ? How does it compare ? Cheers, Geoff

    Vent Gauge

Gauge £300 ish, then there`s oil pressure upgrade and fitting. I don`t dispute the pricing at all but knew I could self fit something for less.

    Vent Gauge

Ha, no worries, I was going to self fit the SC but my drive is steep and not safe to do it there. I`m going intercooled SC. Already done wheels and bodywork plus lights. Waited a year for SC as had bad experience on reliability on an MX5. Now the Sprintex has been in the field a while happy to take the plunge.

    Vent Gauge

SPA gauge as knightryder confirms does temp and pressure at the same time, comes with sensors and is digital and £190.34 delivered. Fully programmable upper and lower limits. Fitting kit £30 from scooby parts for temp and pressure sensors. The P3 kit came to nearly £800 fitted (with oil pressure upgrade option). This was on top of the supercharger price which I`m having fitted at Abbey next month and I just couldn`t justify it. I`ve saved nearly £600 and have ordered an OBD11 scangauge to monitor IAT and water temp plus 2 other selectable parameters for £118 delivered from Amazon. So total spend about £340. The Scangauge will sit on the dash hopefully or if not on top of the rear view mirror. In any case if your engine goes pop having a gauge won`t enable you to stop it, you`ll only be able to monitor gradual changes to tell something is going astray or use the gauges to tell your engine is fully up to temp before gunning it. I can modify my adaptor if need be to utilise the vent but at the moment trying it without.

    Vent Gauge

The SPA gauge displays oil pressure and temperature at the same time with programmable upper and lower limits for both and user selectable backlighting. Not digging at all at the P3 but SPA do make some very nice gauges and they`re sensibly priced.

    Vent Gauge

I have just fitted a SPA digital oil pressure / oil temp gauge in the vent. Very easy, total price £220.00 approx. Made my own adaptor plate from plastic for the vent then carbon fibre wrapped it. Will get some pics soon and do a write up. Have also ordered a scangauge 2 so I can also monitor IAT, water temp etc from OBD port ready for Sprintex install next month.

    Switched Live Drivers Side

I aim to get some pictures very soon. Apart from getting the sensor leads through the bulkhead it was a doddle.
  9. Before I go and blow all the fuses can someone point me in the direction of a good switched live to tap into on the drivers side to power a digital oil pressure / temperature gauge ? Alternatively what colour are switched live & ground ? (Blue & Black ?)

I will speak to Mark when it goes in for SC next month.

Extended the wires and took feed used for stereo, thanks for your input.

Been for a blat this afternoon to check oil pressure / temp gauge, great fun on a B road twisty. Really don`t want to mess with the handling and as i`m an old fart (51) it`s low enough already !

So I got a bit wound up...

by Mark I meant Mark @ Abbey. MTEC springs are gathering dust. While they have it on the ramp doing 2nd cat delete they may as well fit them. Supercharger is Sprintex.

So I got a bit wound up...

I love the car and tolerate the rattles because apart from the gearbox they are my only issue. The gearbox in mine is naff but having MTEC springs fitted when supercharger goes on (did I tell you about that Mark ?). I have accepted after 18 months that it is what it is. It`s no VAG on the inside but for shear sideways lunacy and running costs I`ve come across nothing close to it apart from my tricked up and properly set up supercharged MX5. I don`t do cleaning and my car is often filthy, the dog goes in the back and if it rattles I wind my self installed audio upgrade up ! it gets covered in bird sh*t at work and I sometimes scrape it off after a few days. It is a machine for getting from A to B - sideways. I love the look on the grockles (holidaymakers) faces as I slide it round the bend near Butlins in Bognor. Couldn`t do that in the SLK55 AMG ! Some of the posts elsewhere make me feel that the author(s) shouldn`t be allowed within 50 feet of a car. If they feel the need to ask such anal questions they shouldn`t be on the road !

No, won`t be lowering due to front lip and speed bumps.

Well, you talk about clowns.........me and a mate always used to do the charity auctions at our Vmax bike bashes. Came across this photo today of us at Cheddar in 2003. I was meant to be David Dickinson and my mate the auctioneers Gofer. I overdid the fake tan and ended up looking like James Brown ! All in a good cause and went down well with much money raised.

Yes, plan to take pics of the SPA self installed gauge this weekend and will upload some more at that time.
