    Thoughts on Blue wheels?

Love the colour, especially with the mauve tinge, should look stunning on a white car
  2. Jamie_GRMN

    Performance brake pads?

Haven't used the XP8's myself on an '86 but within the GT4 world they are easily the best upgrade for the standard calipers, they can squeal a lot though and create ALOT of dust, you'll be forever cleaning those red wheels... Expensive but you get what you pay for, can't comment on life though. Not seen much of the TRD, what about EBC's or Ferodo's offerings?

    First Proper Clean Ever

Cheers keethos, just need it to stay in this condition now whether it's my effort to keep it that way or my friends I'm not sure
  4. So I have never ever properly cleaned a car in my 6years of driving, given them a jet wash or a quick shampoo every now and then, but never really cared enough to spend the effort polishing and coating etc... So to mark the 4week anniversary of me owning the '86 I thought why not put the effort in and try keep the paint in better than original condition. Gave it a quick jet wash at the local car place to get the worst off then a clean with some meguires stuff and a microfibre mitt that my brother had laying around, looked awesome as that, then proceeded to notice what looked like key marks down the roof and wings on one side. Cue a 20minute sulk whilst I went inside and had a beer and contemplated what I'd do to the person if I ever found them. Beer finished I went back out to see how likely a good polish would remove them and phew, was just the remnants of the the protective plastic glue the dealer had missed, all was well Now as I'd never detailed anything before had nothing to finish with so visited a friend down the road who has copious amounts of autoglym stuff (she also happens to be dame judi denches great niece, thought it was worth a name drop ). Her OCD side took over and decided it would be much better for her to do it than me as I'd screw it up... A couple of hours later and almost every autoglym product under the sun it looks like this... Sorry for the crappy iPhone pictures, had to get to the pub to make the most of the weather but it's sooo shiney Now I need to write notes for when it goes in on Thursday for a new HPFP as mines chirping after 1400miles :/

    First Proper Clean Ever

Yeah after completion I'm proper satisfied with it Hopefully I'll have the exhaust and everything done before the HPFP goes again so won't be as noticeable when in traffic or parking with the window down, just thought whilst it's still standard I may as well get a new one without any issues... Plus they can't really say no to me as they know I have access to all warranty and TSB data through work

    RRG on Saturday

Compos aren't on yet, still completely standard, got the last bits to order (gearbox positive thingy + rear subframe inserts) and another 1100miles to do to make sure all the plans are the right ones then will be getting it all sorted need to decide whether a manifold is a good idea as well

    RRG on Saturday

I may pop across, I'm out Friday night in Chester though so depends what time I'm up I need to get some more miles done for my run in

New steering wheel and gearbox poly bush

I'm confused, Steve says the subframe inserts are a 20minute self fit, yet Deacon 3hours of labour? Which is it, or are the inserts Steve mentions different from the bushes? Going to be going on my shopping list along with the gearbox mount for when the "Mod Day" arrives and the car changes rather a lot in one go

Is it going to be worth it?

I shall definitely be about in it Rob, based in both Deeside, North Wales and York depending which weekend it is. The dealers didn't sort anything extra but tbh if they had tried it would've probably taken the longer so wouldn't be worth it, I have ended up paying a fair bit less than expected judging by the invoice but they never mentioned taking more money off. I am happy at least, everything in it seems so effortless compared to the GT4

Is it going to be worth it?

Evening all, signed up a while ago after realising there was two forums from the other side, but was trying to hold off posting until I actually recieved mine. So, I'm Jamie and wanted an '86 since I saw the final iteration of the FT-86 II at the Geneva motorshow, thought it was going to be just a pipe dream until I could afford a used one but then got my dream job straight out of uni as a Quality Engineer at Toyota's engine plant so took the plunge on a brand new one after my three month probation period was up. Ordered a pearl white one at the beginning of November with black leather/alcantara (wasn't orginally planned but I'm fussy and didn't like the red on the cloth seats) and the touch&go. But now I'm on the third delivery date after being pushed back and back with no reason or explanation just "we're trying to get it as soon as possible" I'm starting to get fed up. So is it really going to be worth it? In my wisdom and just to prove i'd be able to afford the car I set myself the cars monthly cost a month as a budget to by some mods ready for its arrival; Compomotive MO5's 17x7.5 in a custom satin deep pearl purple with blue flash (to match the centre caps) designed by myself and the refurber, BC coilovers with 5fr/5rr spring rates, whiteline roll centre/bump steer correction, front and rear camber adjustment bushes/bolts to allow some adjustment, if not deemed adequete these will be replaced by adjustable arms and finally a samco intake + k&n mainly to get rid of the sound generator cak that was the only thing that wound me up during test drives. Got a cobra overpipe as well as was unused and at the right price, the rest of the exhaust will be a custom single exit built by the specialist that looks after my GT4. The reason I posted up now is that I stupidly worked out that if I had got an Aygo from the dealers current stock they had the money saved would've got my GT4 through a winter hibernation with a suspension/running gear/brake rebuild ready for a summer being a weekend + trackday toy with a possibilty of having a bit of fun in the RRG TSS. Anyway I've rambled on enough now, and if it ever arrives/I don't tell the dealer to shove it, I look forward to meeting you all at meets etc Ohhh and good job well done to the founders/admins etc that have built this forum, one of the best I've been on, especially the mobile version Heres a pic of the JDM Celica GT4 WRC that the '86 should have replaced by now:

    Thoughts on Blue wheels?

Love it, always like bold wheels, the ones I have for mine are a lovely purple and the next set will be going turquoise

Is it going to be worth it?

GOOD NEWS! Just got to wait till Friday to collect now, going to feel longer than the first 5 and a half months though
  15. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

Won't be making it across to Fensport unfortunately, it'll make the wait even more unbearable... I already have all the goodies I need from them, so far anyway
  16. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

Got an email today from the dealer/salesman saying it will definitely be delivered to them on Monday, going to have to go in and have a look I think as can't collect until Friday
  17. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

Haha yeah I know there's a waiting list from factory but still, there shouldn't be for one that was ordered over 5months ago... I have the Reg plate it's going to be and the VIN of it, anyone know if there's a way of locating it? Although I reckon I already know where it is, the despatch yard next door to the Burnaston plant, so glad I don't work there and have to look out the window and see it waiting for a lorry to deliver it
  18. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

They know the extras I want but at this point In time I'd just rather have the car and adding more extras will probably just delay it even further during PDI... Mine doesn't even seem to be getting preferential treatment for the PDI either considering I've been waiting over 5 months, apparently it will just go through the workshop whenever they can fit it in
  19. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

Delivery to me now put back to the 20th... beyond a joke, still no explanation as to why either.
  20. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

Still haven't heard anything so I'm assuming delivery will be Friday/collection Saturday. Althought the cheeky bas***ds have sent me a customer satisfaction survey already for the recent purchase of my new car
  21. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

Yeah I've seen the one in the states, waiting on a response about price + shipping over here I'm confident in my theory knowledge of tuning, not competent to try my skills on a brand new car though. Cheers for the offer of help

Is it going to be worth it?

Thanks for the welcome, the dealer I've been dealing with is Lindops in Queensferry, they do all our Toyota members discounts for those at the Deeside plant, and in all honesty have been a pleasure to deal with and are still putting up with my moaning about where the car is, just want an answer... fingers crossed I'll have it by this time next week Going to be fairly tame after I've got all these bits on, need to find a cover for the remaining exhaust hole after I go single exit, would be rude not to get a remap though to have some gains from it all. Forced induction would be a perfect plan, love the supercharger whine, but the GT4 will be eating all my spare cash so kind of rules it out. Once I get bored with the slippy primacys will end up with Conti 5's as well I will definitely be at meets in the future, love the social side and actually meeting and chatting to like minded people rather than spewing onto the internet

Is it going to be worth it?

No idea what I would void the warranty on with the spoiler, was yet another question my dealer has avoided, I have just given up all hope with them. Riceburner I shall just make the trip over to you for TRD bits I should be collecting on the 15th so won't be able to make it due to that, although this will probably change so may make the trip in the GT4. IF I decide to go forced induction my mind is already made up and it will be a positive displacement supercharger but not nesecarially one of the off the shelf kits... Cheers for the welcomes guys
  24. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

Cheers Rob, I'm sure the bits would be easy to sell, well apart from the wheels, they can go on the wall I was hoping to make it to the Fensport meet on the 15th, but its looking like I won't have it by then JAE could be a possibility
  25. Jamie_GRMN

Is it going to be worth it?

I already get a fairly hefty discount through work so I really doubt they'll take more money off unfortunately, not a fan of the parking sensors either, hopefully they'll chuck an armrest in though at least I have tried getting a TRD ducktail thrown in as I prefer it too the standard spoiler but they've turned round and said because its not actually part of the TRD cars bodykit its classed as aftermarket and would void my warranty so can't supply it, personally think thats crap but hey ho. Like the sound of the TRD you posted, if they push the date back even further I may go for it Waited long enough already, couldn't wait any longer, and if the upgrades are to be available to current cars then why wait? best bets to buy one now and if you like the upgrades in the future buy em then
