Also consider RRG Macclesfield as the Toyota dealer expert. Given you still have warranty a lot can vouch for their excellent standard of service.

Thanks very much Lauren, I'll be sure to check them out as I've got about 3 years warranty left.

There are several specialists around the country - where abouts are you?

From the North your nearest 86 specialist is probably Tuning Developments then.

You may want to also look into some kind of underbody rust prevention too if your plan is to keep the car longterm

Already taking a look at their website. Great shout !

    Thanks for the good advice

  3. Hi there !

I'm Jose, new member on the site, spent hours here reading some very interesting threads and material, all very relevant and interesting - many thanks !

I'm keen to ask more experienced members regarding long term maintenance of the vehicle. I have a 2017 GT86 manual (recently paid off) and everything's swell so far. I've got approx 32k miles on the clock and no major problems to date. Since I'm keeping the car long term, I'm keen to know your opinion on long term maintenance and detailing.

I'm aware of the basics regularly done at the dealership and I have good faith in them when it comes to fluids levels, filter changes, general inspections etc. However I'm more concerned with things like meticulous engine bay detailing (e.g engine rust identified in certain areas), drivetrain/transmission care, chassis integrity, fluid leaks and other miscellaneous things perhaps not routinely checked by Toyota that perhaps merit a second look.

In that respect, any recommendations for garages/approved mechanics that can go the extra mile on inspections and ensure the vehicle is properly maintained on the long run?

My apologies in advance if these queries seem rather non-specific but any advice greatly welcome !

    Thanks very much

  4. Hey folks,

I'm the proud owner of a 2017 Gt86 with approx 32K miles on the clock. I also experienced a distinct engine rattle after 25k miles, noticeable under hard acceleration between 5-7k rpm. Took it to the dealer and unsurprisingly said everything was ok. Engine's running fine, no loss of power or other anomalies, but paying attention, it seems to be coming from the gearbox/transmission...any ideas what it may be? Alternatively could something be loose in the engine bay? just doesn't sound as smooth as it did before.

    Thanks !
