Hello,
So I might finally be picking up a GT86 tomorrow, 14 plate only 22k miles... Quick question, I'm a little anxious about some alarm issues I've read. Now I know it's not a major issue, but I have a panic that it might go off in the middle of the night and the whole neighborhood will want to kill me.
Just so I'm confident, and to clarify... The most likely alarm issue will be the sensors being bent on the bonnet or boot?
ALSO if the alarm does keep going off for whatever reason, as long as I make sure the manual key entry stays loose and I can access the car that way, deactivate with a code (which I'll have to make sure I know) And then re-lock with the car key itself so the alarm doesn't activate?
If I lock with the car key manually the alarm doesn't activate, so nothing can set it off???
I know it's a stupid worry, but hey that's anxiety for you

This is a review of her, the photos of the interior are from a different car as the journalist didn’t have any decent ones. https://www.aronline.co.uk/reviews/toyota-reviews-ar-cars/driven-toyota-gt86/#comment-801137.

Looks nice! Whats the TD na package?

Thanks everyone, seems like it could be a good option for me... It won't be a daily driver so I don't really need the added luxury of cruise control etc.. main thing is mechanically and (pretty much) visually outside looks the same! Only thing from pictures is i'm not that keen on the 16 inch alloys, but my plan is to keep the car long term so I could always upgrade.

Hello,
Anyone who owns a Primo model.in England on here? I've read about the main difference... Key start, no digital spedo etc...all stuff that doesn't seem overally important to me
Is there anything mechanical wise? I saw something about the breaks being smaller?

Great replies. Somebody actually said to me when I mentioned buying a 86 "aren't they going the way of the RX8, you know with the engine and things"...
Couldn't resist posting on here and see what your responses are haha! I didn't expect any agreements.

With the bigger engine issues and small little niggles like batteries etc..is any one worried this car will go the way of the RX8 with no one wanting to touch second hand older versions?

Haha! Glad to hear you're in love with your GT86! Part of the reason I've finally decided to take the plunge is everyone's enthusiasm for the car on this forum.

Hello,
I'm looking to purchase a GT86, if anyone is thinking of selling soon I'm after a 15 to 16 plate with less than 50k millage. I'm based in North Derbyshire willing to drive within a 100 miles.
Thank you

Hello,
I have a trusted mechanic that I like to go to for my MOT and Service and any car issues with my current car. Will I still be able to use them if I get a GT86, or does it have to be specialist Toyota garages?

Gutted! It's sold! Had a call from the dealer. Only listed for 2 days. They go very fast!

Seems a bit expensive for a 13 plate with only 9thousand less miles

What do you think to the car? Price etc.. would you stay away if it's got an outstanding recall?

Not sure what you mean by the mileage search?
I guess I can ask them to check tomorrow with the VIN NUM.

11 minutes ago, Badger said:What is the reg? If you out in on the DVLA vehicle check website it will tell you the recall. If it is the valve spring they are yet to be done in the UK AFAIK, so it's not outstanding as such

It's VK14 GWC. I looked on GOV site and it just says recall, doesn't seem to say which? Am I being thick? Haha

Yeah I noticed that on the pictures it actually shows 40,922, so they've put it wrong on the description.

Hi all,
I'm test driving the below 14 plate tomorrow and only after I booked the test drive did I realise it has an outstanding recall. Is this likely to be the Engine coil for the 62-63 models? Or something else?
Ill still go and test drive as it's two miles away and I haven't yet driven an 86, but won't be tempted to buy if it is that as seems like it could be a lot of hassle.

Confused about this one is the recall just going to be 62-63 plates or is it likely to be an issue in 14 plate and on wards?
-
Thanks everyone. Sounds like buying from Toyota isn't a bad bet. Do you get a 1 year free warranty if you buy directly?

Hello,
Wondering where most people got their second hand 86 or BRZ from? Currently on the look out and there doesn't seem to be many private sellers ( I'm UK Derbyshire based) within a 50-60 mile radius. There is quite a few being sold at dealerships like Arnold Clarke etc... which I'm not against buying from, just thought I'd see what you guys did.

Hi All,
Been looking at the forums for a good few months and hoping for some help.
I currently drive a 61 plate Honda Civic Type S. Love the car, but I've been itching to upgrade recently and honestly the GT86 is the only car that has really blown me away in looks recently. I'm 26 and a hot hatch doesn't really appeal anymore. I also love to drive, so everything I've seen about this car seems to fit perfectly with me.
Anyway I'm thinking of going for a 14 or 15 year plate, hopefully no more than 40k miles. I don't work very far from home and don't daily drive my Civic (all depends if the girlfriend's car is blocking me in on the drive, if she is I take hers)
Like I said I love driving, but don't know that much past basic maintenance and my Uncle is a mechanic, so I leave all that side to him. My question is, with regular services etc... do you feel like this car is one for longevity? If i buy one I want to keep it for quite a while, maybe 6-8 years and it could be my last petrol car before electric starts to take over. Unfortunately I don't have a garage.
I appreciate the question might be difficult with the original production not even reaching 10 years yet, but would love your thoughts.

Thanks everyone. Just to be safe does anyone no which fuse you would take out to stop the alarm if needed??
