  1. That would be ideal, but given the 86 has no rear headrests, not sure what I could attach those loops to.
It would be handy as the sideflaps could protect the plastic trim at the sides though.

I was thinking to tuck them into the trunk and find something to hook it onto. Probably won't find anything though, so I'm either going to drill something into the back of the seats or into the ceiling of the trunk. That was my idea anyway.

Honestly i think that's why i haven't gotten round to buying this yet.

  2. Not a fitted seat cover as such, but it's an alternative. It's on my Amazon wish list, i was thinking of getting this for the 86.

Although these are something i wouldn't really leave out permanently, i feel like when i need it, it would protect everything a lot better. Plus the overall sturdy shape of it to me makes it look really tidy.

    Peace

  3. I'm 5ft 5" or 166cms as I prefer to say, I run the seat on the lowest position and pretty much the same with the wheel. Never had an issue with reach, I can bring it closer which I do when I'm on track, but there's plenty of adjustment and more reach than I need. Primo won't be any different.
Solutions for the OP are a deeper dished wheeel though you will end up further from the stalks.

Yeah i think i might just have abnormally long legs or short arms then...

  4. Only options i know which provide something similar but not exactly what you ask for are J-Luth (in different finishes (black top, red top, carbon top) and it's different branded variants, eg. Kei!s, ATC Sport SW02731) steering wheels, that are smaller, 2cm closer to driver, retain stock airbag. I bought J-Luth black top one, but had it retrimmed, to add red center line on top. You can see some of them here.
Slight drawbacks - imho light and wipers stalks are a bit too far for best operating for ones with short fingers, and i'd prefer side spokes to be narrower for easer grip around with fingers. Overall i like it though, and due it being smaller diameter i have more space for knees when heal & toeing, and due being closer, i have less compromised seating pose, when i lean seat back further back, to gain headroom, when wearing helmet.
Other aftermarket steering wheels retaining stock airbag are of different shapes/finishes/sizes, but IIRC all are not at offset/closer to driver.
No "spacers"/"extensions" i know of, that would help relocate steering wheel. Except .. if one is willing to loose stock airbag, as with quick disconnect steering wheel hub there is very wide steering wheel selection, including ones with very deep offset. But only option that retains airbag and is closer to driver, ones mentioned in first sentence of my post.

Thanks for this info, i had found a couple options similar to this but they all have the prefacelift design without steering wheel controls... I think im likely going to need to sacrifice this and maybe even have to sacrifice my cruise control also then when i choose one. Unless i can find a company who not just customise the wheel trim etc but also add the thickness behind it.. that might do the trick.

Thanks for the links though, they actually look pretty sick too. Definitely a fan of the centre stripe and extra girth!

  5. Anyone know which hubs or extension kits i should be looking at to increase the reach extension keeping the stock steering wheel?

I think a lot of others also have this issue where the wheel just doesn't come towards the driver quite close enough. But i haven't seen anyone talk about increasing this extension without having to change the wheel for an aftermarket one too.

I might go aftermarket if there's no other choices, but I'd really love to be able to keep the airbag and steering wheel controls.

  6. They do in fact have the indicator on the correct side for RHD which is on the right. Which is where it should be. We have this stupid anonmaly in the UK with the indicator on the left. I blame VW for this as they have done it since the last 70's. Now every UK car has the indicators on the left which makes no sense at all.

Hey Lauren do you know if i was to find out the part numbers and get the parts ordered for the two stalks, if i would be able to make it work?

If custom wiring would need to be done i think i could find the right people to do it for me, but just in terms of making them fit etc...

    Thanks

  7. I think you're going to have a tough time swapping the wipers and indicators to the other sides. May not even be able to do it without some custom wiring?
    https://howtune.com/articles/351-replace-the-wiper-or-light-stalk-on-a-scion-fr-s-subaru-brz-gt-86
You can see in this article the wiring clips are slightly different, presumably due to the different wiring they need. I'd imagine you'll need a whole clock spring setup from a JDM spec car.

Thanks for the reply and the link, truthfully though, I'm not really sure what I'm looking at on the link. I'm not familiar with it at all, i was hoping there's some kind of plug and play part/adapter that somebody has created for the community somewhere on the market.

Or as an alternative, an electrical shop/person who would be willing to take on this job. If someone knows how to and would be willing to do this, i'd gladly be welcome to any incoming quotes for the job.

    Thanks
    Hero

  8. Anyone know if this is an easy swap? Or is the wiring gonna be a difficult one. I remember on my S2000 i was advised it wasn't really possible because of the wiring.

I'm looking to swap my wipers and indicators to the opposite sides.

    Just a personal preference really.

    Thanks

  9. Hi all looking for somebody who has a Greddy Evo GT exhaust, and also looking for the big wing that came from Toyota as part of the Aero Pack.

If anybody wants the 2017 facelift trunk and spoiler in black, I'd be happy to trade both trunk lids with wings attached, this will save me needing to re drill and mount reinforcement to the trunk lid.

  10. Why powerbank? Why not consider active phone mounts, in which inserted phones will automatically get power cable (which can be routed more neatly at that) connected? Using mounts will also ease phone usage for satnav.

I haven't found one i like yet. I don't really like the bigger square looking phone clamps that come with them, i have a tidy looking belkin suction cup mount that doesn't feel cheap and always stays in place for me, and I've been happy with that so far. And i really don't mind the power bank thing as i take it with me everywhere anyway. The cable is not that bad as i have my phone mounted in the driver side corner so it just goes straight down to the cup holder.

  11. Nope. Not really what I'm after.
You can only open Spotify via Siri if the phone is unlocked. If you need to unlock it, then you might as well manually find the music you want. Even if Spotify is open, Siri can't control it. Also, when you finally get Spotify playing, the Touch and Go still reverts to iTunes/Apple Music when you browse for artists/albums etc.

I have a couple Toyota's and Lexus with the latest infotainments, and they're all the same. The problem is that the head unit recognises Apple music first over anything else.

To get Spotify working seamlessly with the infotainment you will have to remove your Apple music from your phone, after i removed it I've had no problems since. I do, just to make things easier for myself, sometimes pre-select an album/ playlist while I'm getting ready to go out, it's just became part of my "Put sneakers on and open Spotify" routine now.

If you have Bluetooth though the way i keep my phone on charge on longer journeys is just via usb to a power bank i keep in the cup holder in the door. If you try to connect Bluetooth while the usb is plugged in at the same time, a lot of the Toyota's and Lexus's [Lexi?] don't like that.

Hope this helps. If I'm inaccurate anywhere feel free to correct me.

  12. Totally agreed, my VXR8, SL55AMG, STI were a hoon, but the little 86' is a far more rewarding drive overall.
    Not to say I don't severely miss a 5.5 supercharged V8

Yeah i agree also.. There is also another kind of appeal to that scary kind of fast though which can also be fun sometimes. To know that the car can handle so much more than what we dare to do.

But yeah i think my 86 should stay relatively calm. I dont wanna make it feel like hardcore race car, just want a bit more poke incase i want it quickly.

Thanks for all the help and insight guys. And Lauren for the detail in the expected costs... I had an idea but when you list it out together it feels like it builds up fast. Esp bbk and such. Not sure if i wanna go full coilover though, i here they are generally a bit harsh compared to just simply lowering it a little.

  13. In the nicest possible way, if you're dead set on getting the best acceleration, then perhaps you should consider other cars?
Because that isn't what the GT86 is about.
It's going to cost you a lot more in the long run to tune a GT86 to get to high horse power and compete with other cars' straight line speed for the same cost.
Take one for a test drive down some fast B roads and you'll see what I mean
Edit: Ignore most of that I got ahead of myself replying and didn't read the original post properly. Apologies.
However, going straight into massive horsepower from forced induction you should seriously consider supporting mods. Think of brakes, for example. If you double the power, are you comfortable on stock brakes? I know I wouldn't be.

Thanks, no worries. Actually the more questions i asked the more it probably sounded like I'm chasing biggest hp etc but actually I'm just curious as to how high i could potentially go and at what cost. And naturally increasing the power i was curious to see how it impacts the acceleration.

Honestly I'm a big fan of this car being a momentum car and have supported it all the way since it was previewed to all the journalists and watching all the videos in the beginning. But just recently after picking up my car I've been on a YouTube video frenzy and can't stop looking at turbo 86s. So I'm now tempted to just go for it, especially if the car can handle it.

  14. Honestly if I was you I wouldn't even consider doing stage 1 without meeting some of the recommended items, never mind stage 5! They're recommended for a reason and it's to stop things going bang.

If tuned correctly the FA20 does like FI but it can go horribly wrong if done cheap and unsafe. The general figures you see floating around is 280 on a standard engine with not many changes, pushing over 300 is doable if you push the torque to the high end more (main issue is the engine has a lot of torque low end already so pushing that further can cause bent rods). You're talking new clutch, uprated fuel pump, injectors etc to get 300+ stats really.

I wouldn't want to go over like 320ish before a full forge engine rebuild.

I'm looking into the FI route myself and decided to spend a year or 2 prepping the car so I can properly have time to research every bit to ensure its done as safely as possible and I can get the most out of the turbo without causing issues.

End of the day if you want the high BHP figures this is the wrong car for you. It's a lightweight sports car, 280-300bhp in this is nothing like the same in say a Golf.

Thankyou actually what you end with the is perfect to what i wanted to know thankyou.

Had anybody got times for 0-60 and 1/4 miles after tuning to about 280-300?

I'd really like to know what to expect.

  15. Thanks for the responses everyone.
So I'm not too sure why i would only go for stage 2 then... in the stage 3 4 and 5 kits they have more and more things added in the description of the Fensport website, does that mean it's all overkill parts because i wouldn't let it past 300 anyway? And what's the reason everybody always stops at the 300 mark, is it because changing engine internals are expensive or just fear of messing anything up at all.

I'm a tuning noob and am i excited for this whole thing, I've always driven stock rather than tuning them faster myself.

  16. Hi y'all I'm new here, haven't posted in the "newbies" yet, and couldn't figure out how to put myself on the members map too.

Just wanted to ask if anybody here has the Fensport stage 5 turbo kit fitted without prior supporting mods being fitted. Was wondering if i was going to go for that as is, with only a down pipe and catback fitted, what kind of numbers would i see on the dyno.

On the website it just says 250-550 depending on mods already on the car.

And one more thing, has anybody here gone for a Ptuning turbo kit, they get a lot of praise from what I've searched but after browsing here for the past week i can't see much evidence of it.

    Thanks!
