  1. K&N Panel Filter: £25 + Postage (£50 New, has lifetime warranty and is washable.) Looks a little grubby but it's just off the air filter oil from the cleaning kits you can get.

    -

MTEC Clutch Spring: £15 + Postage (£33 @ Tuning Developments) Spotless. Used for 6k miles.

Clutch Spring makes your clutch a bit heavier and makes it nicer to find the bite point. I found that I had smoother shifts/downshifts whilst driving a bit more spiritedly.

    -

Whiteline Bush (KDT926): £20 + Postage (£40 @ Fensport) Also looks a little grubby, just off the grease needed to insert the bushing. Fantastic condition still, only used for ~1-2k miles/2 months.

Whiteline Bush fills the void in the standard gearbox mount. For me it got rid of the issues with not being able to get into 2nd gear when the gearbox is cold, especially in colder weather. Also gets rid of some movement of the gearbox when going over some slight bumps

Can collect from Durham if you wish.

Van was insured. Took details. Name, address and stuff. Yeah it's a load of crap. If it does get written off, I'll be losing probably £3-4000 on it.

If they do write it off, never accept the value they initially give you, find examples on autotrader etc of the same spec/mileage/year and say this is how much it's actually worth, generally they will undercut you just to save some pennies on their part and will budge if you refuse and demand more providing you have examples.

Having a witness will certainly make it easier to claim.

Do you have legal cover on your insurance policy?

Also, in every communication make 100% sure you don't reference anything in regards to you potentially being at fault. Always state "Non-Fault Claim" rather than "accident claim" just in case.

Will do. I'm very likely having a new clutch whilst the engine is out. If it's still got a good bit of life in it then I'll leave it a little longer, but at 125K it must be getting a little thin. 🤣

I'm also going to get Gary to check the timing chains. Will be interesting to see what they find given the mileage.

Definitely can't imagine it'll have much left on that! You've got some good clutch control to make it last 125k no doubt! 😂

Guess who's car will be the first to undergo the valve spring recall at RRG Macclesfield? 🤣

That'll be me then. I expect nobody will be surprised by that. Just awaiting a date, should be in the next couple of weeks. :)

Let us know how it goes! Keen to get mine through Macclesfield as early as possible, I don't want to be hanging around waiting for ages otherwise I'm going to have to service before the recall and it's just a waste of money, rather than get it done at the same time.

OllyW: thanks for link. At last i see pics of those stalks disassembled. Though still it's a bit hard to make out, if it's possible to move/mount/bend them a bit angled/closer to steering wheel, which is what i'd wish to do in my car (installed steering wheel that is with offset 20cm closer to driver, so would love to angle those stalks more too, to be as close to wheel like to stock's).

I think it'd be difficult to bend them without distorting the plastic/snapping them - Your best bet in finding out would be disassembling them yourself or order a set off ebay to experiment with, that way if it goes wrong you're only £40 down (based off the 2nd hand set on eBay currently) and your car still has some wiper/indicator stalks in place.

  9. I think you're going to have a tough time swapping the wipers and indicators to the other sides. May not even be able to do it without some custom wiring?

    https://howtune.com/articles/351-replace-the-wiper-or-light-stalk-on-a-scion-fr-s-subaru-brz-gt-86

You can see in this article the wiring clips are slightly different, presumably due to the different wiring they need. I'd imagine you'll need a whole clock spring setup from a JDM spec car.

  10. Sounds almost exactly like my scenario.

I'm 18, work in IT and have 1 Years NCB. 19 in October.

I've just managed to bag a quote with GoSkippy for £1940 No Blackbox, 10k Miles, £250 voluntary excess + Business Use

My tip would be do quotes for a date 20-25 days in advance, do them daily and try it with both named drivers, only 1 and without. My voluntary is £250. Also, set your occupation to Computer Engineer in Information Technology if you're not using that already.
