    Supercharger or Turbo

It would be fascinating to have some head to head dyno figures alongside some real world driving comparisons for these differing approaches. Not that I have any intention any time soon of getting either - besides, who needs a supercharge whine when you can have a HPFP chirp for free :)Just out of interest, is it theoretically possible to get both systems (turbo and super-c) installed and working at the same time in the same car? I only ask becuase there are production line combos out there already aren't there - the VAG 1.4 tsi for example?

    Northern Meet / Hoon

Sounds good to me, that pub's been on my list for a while but I've never quite made it. Sounds like a good outing to test winter tyres too

    Hello :)

  4. With the need to swap to winter wheels fast approaching, and wanting something better than a single jack, I have just got myself one of these nifty bundles from Halfords (in and out of the store in less than 5 minutes - the reserve system worked for once!) - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_899721_langId_-1_categoryId_255207Not the greatest quality for the various items I realise (I've got a seperate torque wrench for accurate tightening), but for what's included it seems a decent deal even so

    Marks Mods

Cheers Mark, I wonder if there are different versions then - the one I spotted on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RC-TAIL-LIGHT-VALENTI-RED-CRYSTAL-LED-set-Toyota-86-FT86-Subaru-BRZ-FT86-/181226386910?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a31ef35de - states that there are no mods required, and inc postage they come in at around £300...

    Marks Mods

I really like those Valenti lights, and was tempted when I saw them listed on ebay from Australia - so is it the case Mark that out of the box these Aussie sourced lights won't work without some sort of work around, or were yours from a different source/country entirely?

Litchfield Spec S - web page now live

Expensive, but in terms of the ratio between £'s spent and increased HP probably better value than most other performance mods out there. Mind you, I think you would also need to budget for some new 8/9" wide rims/tyres if you haven't already got them to make proper use of the gains, and then the price really does start to make your eyes water

    are these things normal?

Well in theory the ecu flash is up to date given it's a new car, however that isn't an absolute guarantee. My initial hunch was ecu and I took it back to the dealer last month and asked them to check. After waiting for 2 hours I was then told that the mechanic had been out for a drive in it (but no mention of a confirmation of up to date ecu flash) and couldn't find anything wrong, although as the car was warm that didn't surprise me, or at least not as much as the feeling that I had wasted a morning so an employee could have a nice ride out in something other than a auris. Needless to say it's another reason why they are unlikely to get my servicing custom...
  9. ...I've just spotted this from america - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-GT86-Center-Console-Plaque-/290990143757?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43c05d390d - they do a BRZ version too, and at £18 inc postage it's half the price of the one that's been available for a while from Lithuania. That said, I can't say that the blank switch panel has worried me enough to spend eighteen quid on it, but these do look nice even so...

    Hello :)

Lauren, can I just ask - given you went from a secondary Milltek system to a primary one, what were the noticable differences both in terms of sound and power, and having driven with both would you recommend the primary as being better than seciondary if you can afford it (i.e., is it worth the extra money!)?
  11. I know this sounds like a daft question, but I always get really confused by some american car terminology. I think I'm right in thinking that 'shop' in a car sense is short for workshop, and the equivilent of the UK use of 'garage'? But then they also use the term garage don't they? Are the two interchangable or do they mean slightly different things?!

    Hello :)

Hi Jude, nice pic! Yes, Sunday was a good day (and the new reversing camera Jay fitted is the dog's do-dah's). I also picked up a set of OEM rims and Yoko winters from riceburner there and saw that there was another set awaiting collection - now we know who for! Mind you, then driving at Lauren speed on the cat and fiddle run afterwards with the one on top sliding violently to one side then another when cornering gave drifting a whole different meaning for me :DI'm also looking at exhaust options having heard a couple of different milltek combinations and Jay's full Cobra on Sunday. RRG do a very good price on the Milltek and you also get it included in the 5 year Toyota warranty if they fit it, although I realise that assumes you have the correct badge in the first place

    Cheap Halfords trolley bundle

Also, just to share, I got one of these recently - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-ALLOY-4-WHEEL-TYRE-STORAGE-COVER-TREE-STAND-WINTER-SUMMER-BAG-HOOK-RACK-NEW-/370826015283?pt=UK_Garage_Equipment_Tools_Tool_Boxes_Storage&hash=item5656f3f233 - fantastic bit of kit that does the job perfectly in terms of space saving and safe winter/summer wheel set storage and at a bargain price too :+:

    Cheap Halfords trolley bundle

To be honest Keith I was just after a jack and a couple of axel stands - and as the seperate price for those comes to the same price as this bundle everything else is a pretty decent bonus in my eyes and so won't matter if in the case of the creeper it rarely gets an outing. In your case however, could you not just put a length of cheap plywood on top of your paving for it to run on?

    Air con cerns

Google searching the issue (always a dangerous past time), I came across the David Icke nutter view on why cars have air con (part of a conspiricy to drug us all of course!) - http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showthread.php?t=206674Meanwhile this page seems to explain things a bit more sensibly - http://www.safermotoring.co.uk/car-air-conditioning-safety.html If it is the case that our cars have been designed to use the non-134a based air-con gas then that would explain why it would not be advisable to go to the likes of Kwik Fit for a re-charge as if I have understood things correctly (my Grade 1 Physics CSE from 1982 only takes me so far) there are issues around different molecule sizes and leakage potential. I think. :bang:

    Air con cerns

And there was me thinking 0w20 oil was a bit on the steep side! Personally I'd be checking in with Subaru dealer for their take on things before spending that sort of money. Or failing that, opening the window more often...

    Midland/Northern Camera Install Session

It was great to meet everyone (and yes, I've just registered!), many thanks to Richard at RRG for the fantastic hospitality, although some of those fast corners on the drive afterwards with a spare set of winters and rims sliding in the back are an 'experience' even with the traction control firmly on! Cheers to Jay for the camera install, I backed into my drive for thge first time coming home confident that I wasn't going to squash the wheelie bin (our council charge almost as much as a new GT86 for a replacement!)
