1. Yes, you really need to drive both in order to make an informed decision. The gt86 is rarer and more of an enthusiasts car.
Today i found out one of my family member knows someone who has a gti and a gt86. Today will go down and have a test drive and see how they are.

2. GT86FTW - Have you asked a couple of different garages if you can test drive a car? If you have a full UK drivers license (assuming you are from the UK), you should be able to get a test drive at Toyota . Also have you been to a garage with an older family member? As that can usually help.

You have to be 25 plus and am 23. If i get a family member to drive for me i will get a feel for it , or just hire them 2 cars out for a day or two and see what they are like to drive

3. Oh boy,
This is a GT86 forum what do you think the answer is going to be?
Ask this queation on pistonheads or such like if you want an unbiased opinion.

But since you are asking... buy a GT86, it's better because I said so

4. Beacuse of my age i can't test drive them. I was all up for the c class and gti. Then i started to think.

The c class is just for comfort and that's all, not full to drive
The gti is a all rounder but where I live its associated with drug dealers. That what put me off it and because of that insurance is really high

Then i seen the gt86 i dont know why but something about this car made me fall in love with it. From the outside it got the looks. To me looks 10x better then the c class and gti.
Inside not so much but i can do things to improve it.

Its not technology advanced like the other two.

What am looking in a car is a car that is fun to drive, but that also has good looks and and easy to live with.

5. While looking at gt86 they don't cost that much compared to other cars like the Audi TT Golf GTI etc.... ive seen 2013 under 30k for around 14500
And 2014 under 28k for 16000.

I still have to wait until next year March beacuse of my age and insurance, but looking at them prices. Am hoping to get one for around 15k 2013 or 2014 one.

What do you lot think

7. Avoid ordering from this website. I’ve had a dreadful experience with them. I was fooled by the branding and should have read the trust pilot reviews first.

I ordered some CG kit in preparation for the arrival of my 86. Unfortunately it didn’t arrive so after a week I chased them, tried calling, nothing... sent a couple of emails and eventually got a reply saying there had been a bereavement so they were a bit behind and more order would be shipped that day. Obviously I was understanding of that situation. Later on that day I got an email from confirming that my order has shipped.

A few more days passed and nothing so I used the tracking link on the email and no tracking info. I emailed them a couple of times asking for tracking info.

After another full week they call me and apologise with some excuse about being down to one person and really sorry but would ship my order that day. He didn’t actually have the grit guards i ordered but had the same ones in a different colour. Fine I just wanted my order.

Then he rings me the following day saying that the order had come back as the buckets had broken in transit, someone had put a box on top of them! Very apologetic would throw in something extra for the delay.

Another week passes and finally get my delivery >3weeks (and 3 car washes) after ordering. How disappointed I was to find 2 generic white pails with Chemical guy stickers on the front. The wrong wash mitt (a cheaper CG one) and the wrong applicator pads.

I checked the website for the returns policy and it wasn’t given. After numerous emails he still won’t give me returns details.

The buckets clearly aren’t genuine and far too wide for the genuine grit guards to work properly.

When I said that the other bits in the order were incorrect he said he sent me the different applicators as a goodwill gesture! Unbelievable! I just wanted the stuff I’d ordered. He still keeps on ignoring my request for returns policy and says the buckets are good quality. He says he’ll send me the correct wash pad and applicator but I’m a bit past it now and have no faith that he’ll actually send them.

I’m pretty gutted to be honest.

I paid through PayPal so hopefully I can get some money back.

Thought I’d share as it looks like he has been doing this to many others looking at the trust pilot reviews.

8. In terms of what I love about my GT, I would say driving it hard round the track. But equally as much if I'm in the Alps or round the EVO Triangle. I just love the drive.
My first mod was a Milltek exhaust/Injen induction kit as I specified them when I ordered the car new, so they were on it when I picked it up. The Milltek has gone as they crack, but the Injen is still there.
When i do get it, the first mod i want to do is change the back lights and change the exhaust

10. Had my first GT86 at 19yrs old and with 1ncb the insurance was almost the same as my 1.2tdi Ibiza (900 a year). I had few cars in between and now own a BRZ and currently pay around 450 for whole year at 22yrs.

The insurance on these car is actually quite cheap, the main trick is to shop around.
Ive been looking and for a 21 year old is coming out 3k , so am going to wait until end of this year and seen from there

11. I haven't got my gt86 yet, have to wait next year april to get one. The reason way is becaue insurance and my age. I think the wait will be well worth it.

In the mean time what do you love about your gt86 and what was your first mod on your car.
