  1. I've just stumbled across these... https://www.part-box.com/crawford-big-power-blocks-intake-manifold-spacer-toyota-gt86-subaru-brz-12-17-b0400 ...and I'm rather sceptical about the claims. For a simple 'bolt on' lump 19bhp and 15lb/ft seem a bit too good to be true! However, I know that manufacturers can often restrict intake tracts to control power output to fit into 'requrements' (like BMW and Vauxhall/Opel have in the past). I mean, Crawford are rather good at what they do in the US, but really??! I suspect the cash for these is better spent on other things? 🤔 Has anyone actually bought some? Are they proven?

    Smudge's supercharged V8 build

Well thanks to you my 86 is a V8... IN MY MIND!! 😆😆😆

Smudge, do you have any idea how many people are doing a V8 swap vicariously through you and this project? (It must be considerable!!). It's awesome and I, like many I suspect, will be jealous of the 'finished' project! The Jap V8 'soundtrack' will fit perfectly with the 86 😁😁😁

    Pioneer SPH-DA120 Install and Review

Not especially helpful regarding the 'factory' Mic but... My Pioneer came with a mic that's on a standard headphone-jack. I carefully peeled off the standard one, coiled it up as much as I could and left it neatly bound up in the dash (just in case I ever want to return to standard in future... 🤔). The supplied Pioneer one went in its place and works well 🙂

A bit of Googling has found this... http://www.connects2.co.uk/Product/ProductItem/CTSSU004.2 Dunno if it's any good though?

Sorry bud, I don't know of any. Steering Wheel controls don't exist on my 2012 model so I never needed to investigate 😕

    Pioneer SPH-DA120 Install and Review

Didn't bother with the handbrake wire. I'm pretty sure it's to stop videos being played whilst you're on the move... I've never played any video content on any headunit I've owned and don't intend to start! 🙂

    Pioneer SPH-DA120 Install and Review

I used this when fitting the pioneer (previously mentioned in this thread) that I bought... https://www.halfords.com/technology/car-audio/stereo-fitting-accessories/toyota-iso-t-harness-adaptor-ct10ty01?istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=-xwwarwmtpx&istBid=t&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:868555897|agid:49387676812|tid:pla-331764450417|crid:203456299599|nw:g|rnd:17333582507439880408|dvc:m|adp:1o1|mt:|loc:1006575&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5JCS1dPr3gIV7ZXtCh1MegOREAQYASABEgKmFvD_BwE It led to a lot of stuff being crammed into the dashboard, so I spliced it and the Pioneer loom together! All joins soldered and covered with heat shrink. Regarding the surround, I made my own blanking pieces. I shared the dimensions in this thread... http://www.gt86.org.uk/forums/topic/6598-diy-phone-holder-head-unit-blanks-and-usb-connection/?tab=comments#comment-104212

    Smudge's supercharged V8 build

Investment vs reward... Shame the other guy didn't understand this. It makes for the very best builds! Have you seen the work of RetroPower? Those guys know this, but each of their projects is easily a six figure price tag!!! 😮😮😮 I love this (achingly slow) build... https://retropower.net/2018/02/05/rb25det-powered-datsun-260z-widebody/

    Bootlid De-badge

How did you get the rest of the gunk/dirt off that is left behind? I've tried a few things now and I still have a 'ghost' of the two. I'm really reluctant to reach for the T-cut (not good on metallic paint?!) Wondering if it shows up more because my car is black 🙄

    Black badges

I'm guessing they came with the adhesive backing on already so it was jus peel, place and press firmly 🤔

    Noise after changing springs

Wrecked a socket! 😮 How tight were they?!! Anything else appear loose on the strut/suspension assembly? Could be something like the brake heat shield? (Also had one of those rattling for a while in the past before I tracked it down!). Admittedly I'm kinda guess as I really thought it was the drop link/s... Reading your original post I'm now thinking about other things to try to eliminate them from the situation. Try swapping the front wheels and see if the noise moves! (There's a chance the problem is completely un-related to the spring swap but the timing is misleading). As you've checked over the tyre etc did you notice if there was a missing tyre balance weight or something?! 🤔 Also, what wheels are you running on? It's possible that a harsh bump/pothole could have buckled the wheel (especially with harder springs)! 😮 Could be worth getting that wheel on a balancing machine to see if it's either of these things...

Oh, ok. They cost about a fiver in the end including the postage from the US. They sent two though... PM me your address and you can have the other one 🙂

    Noise after changing springs

At 12k the ball joints shouldn't be knackered, but there could be a chance they were damaged when being disconnected...? Do you have any idea of the condition of the ARB bushes? The noise could be coming from the ARB moving about 🤔 I've experienced this on previous cars of mine when trying find the source of the 'damned knocking noise!' 🙂

    Perrin Drop Links

    Noise after changing springs

Video won't play on my phone, but from my experience it sounds like your drop links. If they're torqued up properly then I don't think it'll be the fastener slopping about in the mounting hole. Sounds like it's worn ball joints to me, new drop links would cure it I reckon 🤔 😀 These might be a suitable upgrade?!
  24. "Two Weeks?!" 😁 Sorry, couldn't resist 😬
  25. Yeah, I 've pretty much always had something sub-like in every car I've owned 😳 The biggest install I've done included a pair of 12" Subs run off a pair of identical amps, each bridged (running 350w rms). It's the inner boy racer coming out again 😳 😆
