  1. Price - £12,500

    Location - Stratford-Upon-Avon

Just had the big 60k service just been done in January by Toyota. Very rare model. Only around 155 on the road, in the year and a half of ownership i've never seen another outside of car shows.

    TRD edition comes with:
    TRD bodykit
TRD exhaust system with quad exit
    TRD gearstick
    TRD petrol cap.

    Manual
    60k miles
Last serviced at 59k miles in January 2019
    Full Toyota service history
    MOT until May

This version has the black interior, half leather heated seats and the optional JBL speaker package.

The car has some aftermarket modifications currently including:
    3" non-res mid-pipe
3" Perrin cold air intake (mapped to the car, original intake system will be provided with sale)
EcuTek Remap with 4 map modes
    18" JR11 alloys
    Stoptech grooved rear discs
    Cosworth pads all round
    HEL braided lines all round
    Facelift style sequential rear lights
    Front splitter with Stuke winglets
    Eibach Rear Arms
Upgraded battery (this is an OEM upgrade done by Toyota as warranty repair to the common battery fault)

Remap was completed by Tuning Developments. Map has the 4 different modes, one of which having flat foot shifting, auto blip of down shift and launch control (although never tested the launch).

I've owned the car since May 2017 and it's not given me any major issues within this time. Amazing cars to drive and i'm sure i'll be sad when it's gone but i've decided I want to go down the route of importing.

  2. My car is now up for sale so as of such I have some mods from the car for sale. All prices are minus delivery, the bigger items I would prefer collection rather than delivery.

Collection from Stratford-Upon-Avon or I can possibly arrange to meet.

    KW V3's - £1000

These are basically new, bought new in November and were fitted by CLP Automotive in Sheffield who are KW partners. Done around 500 miles. Comes in the original box with the KW tool kit. These are designed to work with standard top mounts to keep a lot of the comfort for road use, was pretty much the same as stock suspension in terms of comfort for me while on.

I'd do the service or expect to get at least £600 knocked off the price. You may do better to wait for the recall if you're on the list (likely) and get a cheaper service to change the spark plugs whilst the engine is out.

I did think of waiting for this but unsure how long it will be before Toyota are actively doing the recall plus theres no guarantee that they will do the service any cheaper. Could easily turn around and say the service is a set price. I think I will probably end up biting the bullet and paying the £600.

  4. Firstly apologies, normally when I see people post this question all I think is "do some research" but im genuinely stuck.

I'm thinking of possibly selling up with my 86 as i'm fancying importing a Chaser. I've looked around but struggling to put a proper number on what my car is worth, so thought i'd check with others to see if im on the right track.

    Details around car are:

59k Pearl White TRD (in 2 minds whether its worth doing the 60k service before sale or just warning the new owner about it)

    2x keys

    vPower since new

    JBL Audio Package

    Few mods going on currently:

KW v3's (fitted in November 2018)

Stoptech rear discs with Cosworth pads all round (fitted June 2018)

HKS decat front pipe and a non-res 3" mid-pipe (brand unknown)

    Facelift sequential rear lights

    Cusco carbon front strut brace

    18" JR11's on PS4's

    Genuine JDM Red Engine Cover

    Perrin 3" CAI

Remapped by TD so has the 4 modes and all the flat foot, down shifting assist etc

I've also changed the pesky leaking cam plate with the aftermarket one from Fensport but recently it appears to be leaking again....

I'd ideally like it to stay as is and go to a new owner that can continue building on top of what I started but if it comes to it i'd look to part out. Looking at standard 86's of similar age and mileage they seem to be going for around 12-13k so I was thinking around the 15k mark with mods. I'd be in no major rush to sell, so what do people think am I overpricing or does this sound about right selling to the right person?

  5. Honestly if I was you I wouldn't even consider doing stage 1 without meeting some of the recommended items, never mind stage 5! They're recommended for a reason and it's to stop things going bang.

If tuned correctly the FA20 does like FI but it can go horribly wrong if done cheap and unsafe. The general figures you see floating around is 280 on a standard engine with not many changes, pushing over 300 is doable if you push the torque to the high end more (main issue is the engine has a lot of torque low end already so pushing that further can cause bent rods). You're talking new clutch, uprated fuel pump, injectors etc to get 300+ stats really.

I wouldn't want to go over like 320ish before a full forge engine rebuild.

I'm looking into the FI route myself and decided to spend a year or 2 prepping the car so I can properly have time to research every bit to ensure its done as safely as possible and I can get the most out of the turbo without causing issues.

End of the day if you want the high BHP figures this is the wrong car for you. It's a lightweight sports car, 280-300bhp in this is nothing like the same in say a Golf.

  6. Glad to finally see someone with this kit on. I'm wanting to get the HKS kit next year so been keeping a close eye out for anyone running it. To say you aint running uprated fuel kit i'd say 300 is pretty good going, HKS estimated 350 with uprated fuel and some other modifications so not too bad at all.

  7. From what I found while looking when I got my TRD a year ago, unfortunately it being TRD doesn't really increase its worth by much if at all. I would look around at other stock 86's of the same age and similar mileage and just add a few hundred quid on top.

On a side note, saw it last weekend at JPS (which I believe is where that image was taken?), looked lovely. Was debating whether it was the legitimate factory red TRD or one you'd added the kit to.
