  1. Hi all, couple of questions...

I fancy giving the Blyton 27th Sept day a go - am I best off booking through http://www.toyotasprint.com/tss/index.php ?

(Says site may have been hacked - that just an over cautious Google?!)

Car is standard / wheels tyres etc... except for the TRD rear box and associated TRD diffuser as fitted by RRG - N2 std? (as its as per the TRD model?) or N1 street? (As it is modified as such).

    Advice much appreciated -

    Hi Andy,

a TRD 86 is modified, larger wheels, exhaust etc so you will be in the N1 class :)

    Cheers

    Adrian

  2. Basically for us N/A lot:

    N3 is now N2

    N2 is now N1 Street

    N1 is now N1 Pro

Confused as to why this needed to change tbh...

The Forced induction lot is where it makes sense to have the alterations :)

    Thats it Jamie :)

Its changed to fall in to line with the rest of TSS classes :)

Please disregard the TSS website for a day or two, I don't have access to update it so will be a few days.

Hope that all makes sense :)

  4. Hi all as you may have just seen we are using Cadwell Park for the final round, and as a lot of you have requested "better venues" this does come at a cost. Entry fee has been increased to £139 inc vat to help cover the increased costs and the final round.

Entry's close on the Wednesday before each event, but beware that the £139 entry fee is only available up until 1 week beforehand, after that it increases to £159.

Regulations: As 2014 with the exception of 3 additional classes.

    GT86 Trophy
F1 Street for forced induction GT86 with engine internals, larger fuel injectors.

F2 Pro - additional class for forced induction GT86, F2 class from now on will be stock internals and fuel injectors, this should cap the cars power to around 300bhp.

Pro Tuner: To be re introduced

Regulations in full will be updated over the next few days, but all other classes will be as 2014.

The calendar looks fantastic and we are looking forward to a fantastic year of sprinting smile emoticon

  9. Awesome stuff Adrian, will the test & tuitions be the same price as a TSS round and is it structured the same?

Also, after breifly reading the regs, do we actually NEED 2 toeing eyes and do we actually NEED racing gloves? I didn't the last time I went.

    Cheers Keethos,

The 1st test day at Barkston is £89 entry , training depends on numbers and instructors required will have prices soon but it won't be that expensive unless you want one on one etc...

I will speak with scrutineers regarding tow eyes, maybe we can make a rule that tow eye is easily accessible  :)

Gloves ... yes you should wear them for your own protection, they don't need to be expensive just suitable (ie have good grip)

    Cheers

    Adrian

  10. Hi Everyone,

As some of you may know we are planning a whole GT86 & BRZ sprint championship to be run within the Toyota Sprint Series which has been running now since 2007 :)

There will be 5 classes for GT86 & BRZ starting with a completely standard car class right up to pro turbo cars, so there will be something for everyone.

Costs for this year is £129 including vat for each round.

Dates will be confirmed shortly - but I can tell you the 1st round is on the 27th April

Here is an introduction to sprinting and the common questions

    What is Sprinting?
Sprinting is essentially a driver and car, competing against the clock, on a pre-practised course. Cars will start one at a time, from a standstill at 30 second intervals, so you won't encounter other vehicles to collide with. The average course is approx 1 to 2 miles long, which helps to keep stress on the car to a minimum. Normally you will be given a chance to walk the course, then drive it behind a pace car, before getting practice runs in the morning, followed by timed runs into the afternoon.

    Who can enter?
Anyone with a valid full driving licence is welcome to take part. Junior drivers are also permitted with additional restrictions.

What if I’ve never done any motorsport before?
The diverse nature of the Toyota Sprint Series means the experience is as intense or as casual as you decide to make it for yourself. Whether you want to compete with the big boys at the front or simply want to have some fun in your road car you’ll find there is always someone in the same position as you. We encourage novice drivers to join us and there are always plenty of more experienced drivers to help you out on the day.

    Is my car suitable?
All vehicles are welcome to enter (subject to organiser approval), just so long as they meet safety and noise emission requirements. As a general rule, your car needs to be up to MOT safety standards, should be in good condition and well serviced.

What if I can only make it to one round / Do I have to go to all the venues?
The Toyota Sprint Series welcomes all entrants, whether for the whole season or the odd round. If you think you will only be able to make certain rounds, your best bet is not to pay the championship deposit, and pay on the round by round basis. The downside to this is that you will not be entered for overall championship points.

So, how much is it going to cost me?
Firstly, the amount you spend on your car is up to you. We usually run tracks of about a mile long, and try to go for 10 runs in total (2 practice and 8 timed) - so factor your fuel usage in to that cost. Fees wise, the cost of each round is £129 and you pay on a round by round basis. If you fancy entering the whole championship, you need to pay a deposit of £120 and then the balance of £109 for each round you do.

    What can I win?
For each round trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall, and each individual class winner. The championship awards the trophies listed above as well as various others decided by the series participants. You also get bragging rights and to have your photo taken with Andy, sorry about that!

Can you have multiple drivers in one car?
Up to 3 drivers can compete in the same car on an event. On the day it is arranged for vehicles with multiple drivers to run out of number sequence so that all the participating drivers can have their run and then swap over without it impacting on the time taken to complete the run for all competitors.

What is the Street Class ?
The street class allows drivers of genuine road cars to compete whilst keeping costs to a minimum. Vehicles can be modified within class limits, but retain full interior and run on standard road tyres (no semi slicks allowed)

    What is the Pro Class?
The pro class is aimed at cars with stripped out interiors and running with road legal semi slick tyres like the Toyo R888.

Am I likely to damage my car?
This is largely down to the individual driver, obviously over the day your car is going to take more punishment than usual in terms of brakes and tyre wear but most of this is down to how you are driving. In terms of accident damage most venues are quite open and have little in the way of ‘solid’ structures to hit, the most likely things to take a hit are the various cones/poles that define the courses but the aim is to avoid those usually.

Where can I get more answers?
Below you will find some more general tips but if you have any more questions you can direct them either to the series co-ordinator listed under contacts on the Toyota Sprint website or you can simply ask away here where people will be more than happy to help with any enquiries you may have. Specific questions regarding car preparation may be answered by reading the regulations for the series.

  11. Hi everyone

As you know there are five different classes to enter your GT86 or BRZ .

Our original plan was to call the classes GT1, GT2 etc but we have a problem with GT4 due to the infamous Celica GT4 ....

    Options ....

Use GT1, GT2, GT3, GT5, GT6 and miss GT4 (gran turismo and porsche may get upset)

    Use another name?

    FR 1, FR 2 etc

    FT1, FT2 etc

Anyone got any thoughts / ideas?

My brain is fried at the mo lol

    Best Regards

    Adrian

You must obey speed limits in pit areas usually 10mph.

No testing, wheel spinning, doughnuts, showing off etc in the pit area

Failure to adhere to the above may get you excluded from the event.

    Right to entry

TSS reserve the right to withhold or bar an entry from anyone found to be bringing the sport as a whole, TSS or it's sponsors and associates in to disrepute.

Anyone found to be abusing the above will also be banned from using the forum.

    Points System:

The 2014 championship consists of 6 rounds. You are welcome to complete all 6 rounds but only your best 5 scores will count.

Points are allocated as follows Fastest overall 75 points, 2nd overall 74 points etc etc.

This way everyone who competes scores points.

This system benefits everyone except class GT-1 FI Pro, as there is the real possibility to “steal points” from other (higher) classes.

    E.g. a class GT-5 car beats a class GT-2 Street car etc.

It also encourages reliability over outright power.

It also gives an overall position for everyone at the end of the year; again this will be a benefit to the lower capacity classes, or maybe an embarrassment to the higher capacity classes?

Points are to be awarded to the driver and not the car.

Car can be changed throughout the season as long as the car is in the same class.

Car can be upgraded through the season to a higher class, driver will retain all points scored.

If a car is downgraded then points will be frozen and driver starts afresh

All GT86 classes will also score points for overall places in the Toyota Sprint Series, these points are awarded in a similar fashion and do not affect the GT86 series.

    Best Regards

    Adrian

  13. Huge thanks to Rob and everyone for their help in preparing for an exciting new championship, I'll post up some new threads over the next few days and the dates are nearly there :)

For information it's looking like a "test and tuition" day on the 30th March at Barkston followed by round 1 at Blyton Park on the 27th April which gives us all a bit more time to sort everything out :)

    More soon ....
