  1. So is there an online place i can order or does it have to come via a toyota dealer? as id rather bypass them until i need stamps
  2. I’m based in London so will be using independents, I asked for a book from Steven eagle and they pretty much laughed and didn’t do anything (literally the worst purchasing experience I could possibly imagine with this car) so I don’t have a book and don’t ever want to speak to that dealer again. Any way I can order a book and get it stamped at a different dealer?
  3. Hey guys, I have had my 86 for 2 months now and love it, this is my first decent car and ive always wanted to get into track driving, my only experience is a palmer sport racing day which was a caterham, atom and M3 with instructors. but that was 5 years ago now. Im wondering the best entry route into tracking the 86? My main concern is no experience, cost if something goes wrong, and generally that im quite a cautious person so want to make sure that im not out of my depth on a track with cars blasting round me! Car is PCP so ill need insurance and to be honest, would like it for the peace of mind regardless, ive only recently started earning decent money so before hand wouldnt have been able to afford any large incidents! I live in hertfordshire so not far from bedford which i assume may be the best place to start? Cheers for any info on the best / safest way to get involved and start building experience

    Getting in to track driving?

Thanks for the detailed responses guys, in terms of tuition the CATD guys seem to be very pricey? I saw something like a Day was £800 a while back? Is this better than an instructor on a track day? I’m happy to spend where it’s best placed but don’t want to pay more than I need to / get less than I need so that’s my main concern. In terms of upgrades I probably won’t do any, I have an aero car if that makes literally any performance difference, other than that I plan to change cars in 3 years and would rather spend the cash on track days and consumables, though I suppose that could change as I get in to it. I will be sure to pick up helmet and gloves after a few times. for insurance do you mean it decreases the more experience you have? Or you buy a package of cover? Min quite happy to go to Bedford to start as it’s local and I’ve been there before, so it’s just a case of what form/format do I persue to learn what to do effectively that I’m trying to pin down
  6. Hey guys, I was debading my GT86 i collected today and unfortunately when the badges have come off they have taken some paint with them! I have debadged previous cars with a hairdryer with no issue so i guess its bad luck or toyota paint. Im hoping someone here has some advice that can resolve this as its pretty upsetting to happen to my new car. Here are a couple of pics of the situation, its pretty bad so I wondered if i had any easy / lower cost fixes than doing to a dent repair service? It looks like they are just marks but they are actually layered into the paint Cheers
  7. no manifold for now, but point taken. Manifold will be after ive owned the car a while and have the cash to commit that much to it
  8. Hey guys, looking to upgrade from the stock exhaust, I’m not 100% sure what model to get yet so see if if there are any used options to narrow down my choices. Im thinking something with deep sound and ideally no or low drone, but may revise that in light of what’s available cheers if anyone has something for sale!
  9. Cheers for the input I’ll take a look st the cobra, do they come up used often? edit: watched some youtube and the non res cobra is nice! just need to find a used one now

    Specialists for Servicing?

Cheers im leaning toward tuners at the moment, will have to see how it pans out come summer when the service and mot are due, all i know is i wont be taking it back where it came from

    Specialists for Servicing?

i suppose i have time to scope out the nearest competent Toyota dealer, but i dont want these guys near my car ever again now, god knows thats already been done to it

    Specialists for Servicing?

So I should just go the tuner route for piece of mind generally and then it’s likely some Toyota dealer will do the warranty work. i thought it very dodgey they use these new online service histories rather than a book so non dealer services aren’t recorded

    Specialists for Servicing?

It’s them for the discount as they keep messing me around so I don’t get that in any other franchise. But I’ve totally lost faith in their group based on the customer service so I’d rather get far away from them, happy to use an indi it’s just about handling the warranty as I don’t know how well the car was treated and want to cover my back

    Specialists for Servicing?

Yeah it has to be their dealer group apparently and they don’t seem too great I’m really just concerned about being able to get warranty work
  15. infernouk

    Specialists for Servicing?

Yeah so this is the main point of the topic so I take main dealer with the 20% discount or do I take indipendant and hope they still honour the warranty

    Specialists for Servicing?

I have 3 and a half years left of it

    Specialists for Servicing?

So potentially the best move is to use independent timers and if something goes bang I turn up and hope Toyota honour the warranty. Just a bit of a mission to get to the reputable tuners and the fuel cost!

    Specialists for Servicing?

Fair enough but I can go to any Toyota dealer for that too not just where I got the car from? Is there any significant history with needing warranty work on there cars? Minus the battery issue I saw, my car is a 2016

    Specialists for Servicing?

That’s what I mean, turning up at a main dealer and asking for free warranty work is likely to be tricky if they haven’t had the profits off your servicing, does concern me as in this case it may be easier to take the servicing deal with the reduced rate I was offered?

    Specialists for Servicing?

Cheers guys, so in terms of warranty work can these guys carry it out or do I need to return to a main dealer and request help?

    Specialists for Servicing?

My thoughts too on the tuner being more than 20% cheaper anyway. My concern here is my warranty, I want it maintained and does that mean staying in the main dealer group? I believe most specialists that do GT86 abide by the warranty rules of parts oil and vat registered abbey is unfortunetly still 90mins away

Fixing Paint issue caused from debadging

Yeah I assumed something like that would be the solution unfortunely, what’s a respray like in cost? And yeah I used hairdryer but just seem to have been unlucky there was so much adhesive
