Date: second Saturday each month - (13/07, 10/08, 14/09)
Location: The Bell Inn, Little Addington, Northants, NN14 4BD
Hi all,
I posted about this on the Facebook group earlier in the year when I started organising these meets - we've since had 4 successful meets and I just wanted to share it with all of you and also share some pictures of the GT86's that have attended.
First of all, Facebook event link is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2174979116126913/
This is just an informal meet I organise at a friendly pub in the East Midlands on the second Saturday of every month (next one being 13/07/2019 - clashes with Japfest Donny, I know). The pub opens it's doors early for us at 10am and serve coffee and bacon rolls/muffins etc. so that we can stand around and chat b****cks about cars!
If anyone is local and can make it along to any of the meets, please do! Everyone and anyone is more than welcome.
We also have the possibility of organising a Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner meet just for the 86 Drivers Club too - so if anyone would fancy that let me know and I'll sort something out.
Anyway, more pics to follow!

They only have two engineers who are qualified to do this job, they are aware mine has a SC but this should not be a problem. It is booked in for 30/07 and should be able to pick it up on 02/08! During this time they will provide a courtesy GT86 car as well.
I thought I might as well do it now as I just ticked over 61k miles, doing the big service whilst it is in for the recall job will now cost £210 instead of £550.
Good luck, It's where I bought my car from originally but I wouldn't use them for anything now.

Count me in on the next one, I dont have Facebook though
Great! Second Saturday of every month, we usually get a few 86's in too. Here's a video a friend made for reference. (Sorry for de-railing slightly, let me know if you want me to delete).

If you have somewhere in mind though that's suitable stick a post and date up 👍
Sure - I organise a monthly Cars & Coffee meet at a pub which is ran by family.
I know they would be more than happy to host a meet for us any time.
Post code is NN14 4BD.
We have facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/bellcarsandcoffee/
Let me know if this looks suitable/something you'd be up for and we can pick a date

Any plans to hold one more East Midlands? Would come to this one but I've got a lot of work to do so can't put the time aside to travel.

Nice, look forward to seeing the wheels.
How do you rate the focal speaker upgrade?

Hello,
I’ve had my eye on the market for a giallo edition for a while now but haven’t had any luck in finding one.
I already have a 2012 GT86 in red but want a special edition.
If anyone has one, or knows of one for sale, I would much appreciate it if you could let me know!
Cheers

Just booked mine in for 16th April at Ron Brooks in Mansfield - after calling a few local dealers last week and not even being able to find somewhere (other than Macc) that were taking bookings until "the letter" arrives, I popped into RB today to try and get an aircon regas and ended up chatting about the recall to find out they did one last week!

How do you treat non-fault claims where someone has been bumped by a car in the rear whilst queuing in traffic?
Insurance is coming up for renewal in a few months and I'm considering switching from my company insurance as they have switched from using ERS to Aviva as underwriters.

Will throw in some black fender garnishes for £10 if this can be collected this weekend (Original cost £80).

Many people are after spoilerless boots. Probably if you post in the For Sale section or on the FB page that you are looking at doing a swap for the whole boot and save the hassle of painting a spoiler or fitting one.
BTW Will your car looks very good mate. Saw you last night on the A43/A14 roundabout by Kettering.
Thanks! I must not have seen you - were you in an 86? I always try to wave whenever I see one
On that point Nemesis - I have the wing on my car in my profile picture and profile banner on a standard boot with no issues and it's only mounted on the edges - so the reinforced bootlid is absolute b****cks
-
Still easy enough to un-stick it with grippier tires on (I run 235's all round as opposed to the stock 215's and can still have fun when it's needed).
Where abouts are you based? Another good thing about the 86 is that the owners clubs are very active and I'm sure if anyone was near to you they wouldn't mind taking you out in theirs with better tyres etc. if you wanted to see what it's like

Reluctant to post them as they may get damaged in transit.
I'll be in Northampton itself (NN5 5RA) over the next few weeks with work if that makes it any easier for anyone considering

Oh and another thing the VSC on this car is quite active so if things do step out when you've got everything in normal modes it will catch it straight away.

If my girlfriend suggested a Skoda Yeti I don't think she'd be my girlfriend any more
Jokes aside, best thing to do would be to get her to test drive one. My girlfriend used to drive a 1.2tdi Polo and had no interest in cars either - in the 4 years we've been together we have done skid pan training with a company called 'CarKraft' (not sure if they're still about but I'm sure similar companies are out there) and she now has an Abarth 595.
However in contrast to others - I let her have a go in my car a couple of times and she hates it to the point she refuses to drive it now - I think the throttle and clutch being quite 'on/off' and it not being that comfortable are the biggest contributors to this.
In terms of the car stepping out, as mentioned above, just stick some better tyres on (recommend PS4's) and it never really steps out unintentionally.

Cool - before you spend any money one bare in mind that a lot of people may find a spoilerless boot quite valuable as many people don't like the stock spoilers and a lot of aftermarket ones don't cover the holes that the stock spoilers leave behind.
Have you looked at any aftermarket spoilers?
-
What colour is your car? I have a red pre-facelift spoiler sitting in my garage - is yours currently spoilerless?

For sale is the following;
TRD Style Front Lip
TRD Style Side Skirts
Price: £350 for both parts - not selling separately unless someone just wants the front lip.
They were bought from another member on the Face book page but I no longer require them, they do look really good so if they don't sell I will probably end up putting them on, at the moment I just need the garage space cleared so putting them up for a good price (already reduced).
Per the previous owner these have been wrapped from new and are not painted beneath the wrap so are in good condition but will need painting if you don’t want the wrap.
There are a few surface scratches on the bottom of the kit but this is not visible when they are on and would be covered in painting.
These two parts retail for £600 from knightracer.
Collection only from Desborough (NN14) - I'm not willing to post these parts due to the size and nature of them.

Although, on closer inspection of the story Reid video, it does look orange at moments, despite looking so blatantly red the rest of the time - possible that the film was messed with so that it looked red?
Look at the boot at around 2:42
-
Wow you know what I didn't actually notice both those cars had the same registration - I was just about to comment that the one in the hot hatches video actually seems to be orange but the video settings are a bit off but on a second glance the Rory Reid video does in fact have the same number plate - what a coincidence as I originally just posted the Rory Reid video to show how close it was to my original plate on my red car, then later added in the other video as it was yours!!!
How very strange - have you managed to uncover any more about this yet? I imagine Rory is not an easy man to get hold of anymore.
James Batchelor (one of the guys in the hot hatch video) might be easier? https://twitter.com/JRRBatchelor?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author

My car parked up! Coincidentally there are two other 86's in this picture, just not much of them!

An aerial view from one of the meet, 4 86's in this one
Lewis' 86 leaving one of the meets

There are plenty more photos on the Facebook page for anyone that is interested.
