  1. I know there's a few people on here that are having battery problems and batteries going flat after a few days of no use. I recently started getting the problem and took it to my dealer. They carried out a test and installed a new battery free of charge. Mileage isn't an issue. They just do a test, if the battery doesn't hold the correct amps/second then they replace it. Even better is they're now fitting 65ah batteries. So if you've got audio equipment or more drain than usual. Go to the dealer. Free 65ah battery! My dealer said anyone with a complaint about the battery will probably just get one because they've had a lot of complaints and Toyota now state the GT86 should have a 65ah battery. Fixed all my problems. Left it a week and start perfectly!
  2. Last few weeks been doing some research into reversing cameras and harnessing again. Last year me and Keethos managed to work out how to install a reverse camera into our UK cars. As some of you know we done a group buy / install a few months back. I’ve now found some very reliable UK based cameras and a harness to connect them to the Toyota Touch head Unit. I’ve now put together a kit which is Plug and Play for our cars. Kit consists of… Small round reverse camera. Harness. Adaptors. Grommets for passing cables. Power Harness. All cables. Hole Saw. Full easy to follow instructions. I will have pre-wired and setup all harnesses making it a very easy plug and play system. 12 month warranty on the camera. New camera is tried and tested and proven to be better. Including 12 months being fitted to my own GT86 and never having a problem. This kit is designed to make it very easy to install a reverse camera kit on your GT86. Should take around 1 hour to install. Nothing risky about the install if all instructions are followed. Some parts / harnesses are sourced from the US so shipping isn’t cheap plus time to make the cables and harness. But i’m offering this kit for £75 as a full kit. With full email support for installation. £75 you’ll receive a box of everything pre-wired and harnessed up ready to just plug into the Toyota head unit. PM me if you’re interested and we’ll get an idea of numbers and do an order. This image below was taken when I first installed the camera on my car. The new UK cameras are better. Line up better and have a better lens.

    Spec K's road to recovery

My HKS charger is silent, no whine. I think the problem is by the time you've spent all the money and time on upgrades and research and development, you must be getting on to the cost of just putting a new box in?

    WANTED - Dashlinq4

Ive got the dashlinq4 and its brilliant. My best nav app is CoPilot. Spotify and google music offline is brilliant too. Far superior to OEM head unit and allows actually line-out to my amp! cheap to. Only around £400 for the entire system.

    Robs S/C GT86 Project

My TRD hasn't killed any pedestrians yet. Although that is also bolted on and fully declared on my insurance. So maybe that's why.

    Which Sideskirts are you running?

    TRD for me.

    Smudge's brake upgrade info

I've run the Brembo STI caliper on the front of my car now for a fair while. Over a year. And can say it has no problems. It does move bias forward a little bite, bit I like that. On track around Snetterton the car definitely stops quicker! Pedal feel is fantastic. And the car isn't dangerous at all. Wheels look up equally and there's no nose diving on my car. I run Z-rated pads on the front and Cosworth Pads on the rear. Car is very well balanced. There are cars in the TSS and in the US winning races with these setups. It does seem to work very well. I've had someone back to back test my car against their own car with big AP brakes for the GT86 and they've said it doesn't feel any difference really. Tyres are my limiting factor now anyway. Even on Eagle F1s. I still run stock caliper on the back and have heard running the STI rear caliper is worse and moves it even more forward. But I wonder how many people have tried it?

Let's not get political on Tweedbeans Thread, But when I heard it at Gaydon And Rockingham, not for me. But I hate Rasp.

Probably, but had enough of the loud noise and stupid rasp. Not for me. After being to goodwood and watching 500hp saloons go up the hill what's obvious is that nice, well tuned and sweet sounding exhausts are far far nicer than all out rasp and volume. Much rather have a comfortable quiet quick car than one that's too loud. But that's my personal preference.

    Air con dilemma!

I believe you can change the system over. My car used the more expensive gas but when I had a prang and it had to be de-gassed. The garage fitted the system with the older gas I believe so that it was cheaper. I will find out some more details if that is true. I remember it being mentioned but can't remember the details from the time. Richard at RRG will know more... Might be cheaper to get the air con pump changed on the car to save on the gas!?

    Gear Knob

What year is the car? If its a 2012 / 2013 you've probably got the older gear leaver mechanism. Mine resonated and rattled up the gear under high RPM. But my RRG found out they had a superseded part. My dealer fitted it FOC under warrenty and never had any buzz or rattel since. So sounds like you got the new one fitted which is probably a different part.. Anyone else that suffers with it just go and get it fixed under warrenty.

I went decat for a short time. Completly. De-catted Manifold and De-catted front pipe whilst I was waiting for a front pipe to come into stock. IT was too loud. Too Raspy. too Droney and just horrible. I'd suggest putting a high-flow cat in atleast. Which got rid of the rasp but kept the volume. I've since gone resonated and will probably be going even quieter soon when I compeltly change my exhaust. Supercharger pushes a lot of air and a lot of noise.

    Fog Light Surround Removal

Probably not, i've had the surrounds out. You'll need access from the back really. Its a fiddly job to get all the clips out. The bumpe off is really only a 5 minute job. Clips underneath, and bolts on top and it pops off. Will make the job so much easier.

    Fog Light Surround Removal

They've got to bolt in, they are really fiddly to do. I would say taking the bumper off is far far easier than faffing around trying to do them with the bumper on.

    Subaru BRZ tS

They do have airbags. You can run the non-airbaged ones but will need to get some airbag cancellers to stop the dash moaning at you. Aftermarket seats do seem to be a pain in the car due to the sensors and airbags. Few cars I know that do it have either disabled airbags completely, airbag cancellers or not ran passenger side seats.

    Subaru BRZ tS

You're looking at £1300+ per seat + New Rails. They're Recaro Sportster CS with Side Airbags. Recaro will customise them how you wish. Probably some dealer tax on that too. They're the seats i'll be going for soon as I can justify it! http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/seats-reclining/recaro-sportster-cs-seat-inc-side-airbag

    Subaru BRZ tS

That's a big budget for a limited run of 500 cars.... When off the shelf parts will work just as well and actually there are many cars in the US running the impreza set-up without any problems what so ever. They might have changed the internal bypass on the fronts but that's probably about it. I doubt they redesigned a new caliper with different piston bores and workings.

    Any device to Monitor Knock?

They probably mean Live Map. The Motec allows you change the map on the fly whilst driving the car. And the values are isntantly reflected in the map. With Ecutek you have to stop, flash the rom with the new map. Go for a drive. Stop adjust the map, reflash etc etc.....

    2nd service

I never said it was an excuse. It is by way no an excuse. But it's also a bigger problem with Toyota GB. To go after a specific franchise is unfair when all the Toyota franchises bar RRG are probably similar! Toyota GB need to be pushed into giving the correct training and ensuring dealerships understand the service schedule. To be fair the service schedule the dealerships have access to is god-awful to understand and I could put something together far better in excel! Let alone what they have. I am long past dealership services and repair work, I had my first 2 free ones done. Then all my work is done at Fensport, a place I trust, understand and know will charge accordingly for the work. And it will be up to my standard. A stamp from Fensport has just as much meaning than Toyota Dealer. And in matter of fact personally if I was buying a second hand car I'd prefer to see it have been serviced and maintained at a Specialist Garage rather than a main dealer. Like most GTRs are serviced from Litchfield or SVM actually hold higher value. Why are people so precious about getting the car serviced at a main dealer? We are lucky enough to have Abbey Motorsport, Fensport and of course RRG which are an exception to the franchise rule!

    1st Mot passed but.....

My Cobra Cat passed emissions test with non-resonated system and stock manifold when I tested it originally. Maybe it's just not beefy enough on it's own. Although it did pass with some great margin. I'm now running the Berk High Flow cat which has been tested to pass emissions. I'm going to have a dummy test as soon as I can with the supercharger to see where I stand.
