    Not quite an owner yet

Welcome to the forum, Chris! I'm pretty sure that the MY17 model has been improved everywhere outside the EU but because they couldn't meet Euro 6 norms the power train remained unchanged? But please prove me wrong if anyone knows the actual story with this one. IMHO, as I've only purchased mine late last year - you're better of investing in aftermarket upgrades on the earlier models (especially with such massive market support) rather than paying the bigger price for the face-lift. It has to be said though that they have brought out some nice interior features too - like the alcantara dash pieces, but I'm not really sold on the outside styling compared to the earlier model.

    Intake Kit... Worth it?

So basically if you lift your carpet up behind the pedals, you'll notice there's a small hole in the footwell, now open up the bonnet and you can see that the pipe goes into the intake piping just before the throttle body. This is basically so the engine can do this to you:

    Newbie from Swindon!

Welcome to the forum, Chris! Oh and great choice on the colour I'm up for a Swindon meet from time to time especially as I pass it a lot on my way to Milton Keynes. A meet by Ferrari followed by a Costa was always my thing there previously!

    Wheel Sealant

On budget - I'd second Poorboys Wheel Sealant - smells heavenly and for the price and ease of application it's very effective, had them on my previous wheels and the only downside was that it didn't last nowhere near long enough. Now I've got C5 applied and sometimes in between washes topped with C2v3 and I'm always amazed at how easily I can clean the wheels!

    Car History

I was an inch away from buying a convertible from Ireland (California imported, mint condition) as my first car ever, the suspension problems put me off however and I went with a : • 2003 Suzuki Swift 1.3 N/A • 2001 Mini Cooper 1.6 N/A • 2011 Nissan Juke 1.6 Turbo

Hi all, new to the forum,

Welcome! 👋 ... ... ... ... ... Goodbye! 👋 No, honestly, why the sale and what's next? The facelifted GT I presume just in the right colour this time? 👍🏻

    Too smokey? Or normal?

Ok it does sound a little more logical when you put it this way, having had a BMW Mini Cooper before - any smoke from the exhaust or anywhere from the car in that matter just sounds like money to be spent to me 😂

    Too smokey? Or normal?

Fuel consumption hangs around 29mpg which isn't anything out of ordinary, checked upon coming back home just now and after around 10miles it was still breathing out some vapour but definitely considerably less than before, I shall give it a drive around next weekend and see what's going on then, the exhaust tip seems clean however...😁 (Indicating a lack of rich mixture)

    Too smokey? Or normal?

Thought I'd chime in with this, I've been checking my coolant and oil constantly and vigilantly and nothing seems to be escaping however it seems like the GT is steam engined rather than anything else because even after bringing it to operating temperature and driving a couple of miles it still releases visible vapours 'round the back! I just put it down to it being a flat four and a sports exhaust system...

    Windscreen polishing or not?

I have to admit I haven't noticed any scratching but the glass definitely seemed to smear a lot when I first picked the car up. I'd prioritise making sure you have decent screenwash and use it generously on each swipe to keep your wipers clean especially in the winter season. I personally treat all my cars with a thorough glass polish and then Gtechniq G1 coating on all glass and wipers and since have had no problems with smearing or scratching. Then again GT is my weekend warrior and she gets washed every weekend too so I haven't got a lot to support my claims...

    Bore Da!

Hello everybody! So it's now time that I introduce myself to your family! Name's Igor, live in South Wales and as of hopefully next couple of weeks I shall be joining the gt86 club with a purchase of a 35k mile 63 plate Toyota in black. Now the car isn't going to be mine until I part ways with my current vehicle which is a Nissan Juke that I have loved and cared for for nearly three years and I'm slowly in a process of putting it back to stock and selling off all the nice things. I'm 22 and very slowly getting to an age at which it is nearly affordable to drive something quicker than a micra. I've been born and bred a petrolhead so the excitement of buying my first sports car is bigger than anything ever. Now the Juke has attended many shows with me, it had been modified to compensate for the top heavy chassis with multiple sway bars, coilovers, alloys you name it. Also I believe I was the first person in UK to have fit brakes big enough to stop a train in a juke as well 👍. But you guys don't want to hear about that anyway! So, here I am, full of excitement over meeting all of you great people and sharing this great passion! Now I'd like to quickly start off with asking this question, just how far could one push the FA20 without going FI? The previous car was a 1.6T and I pushed around 250bhp at the wheels but this time around I'd like to maybe go the NA way (so not JDM)... Regards, Igi!

    Ross' TD Turbo Daily

As long as you guys give me enough heads up I'll be there too 👍🏻 Gotta wash the car when I get home Friday, then I'm all set!

That turbo definitely puts a nice touch in the bay! Ross, how about some amateur videography this weekend??

@Squadrone Rosso I don't recall,I did go down to Swansea for a couple of hours on Friday and parked up at the big Tesco though. @Jared haha I was in TkMaxx at the time and I saw a white BRZ drive by, I was actually gonna run out of the shop, logged on today to see who it was funnily enough pahahahahaha 👍🏻😂

    Door glass issues

Just checked my wording on the previous post, I meant to say that the passenger window switch doesn't operate them from drivers side but it works no problem from the switch on the passenger door. It's the drivers side side that is problematic for both sides. I even tried disconnecting the wiring from the switch and disconnecting the battery to reset the body control but even that hasn't helped...

    Door glass issues

It wouldn't be because I can raise it up or down from the passenger side.

Well done on your purchase bud! I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration for your future plans just like I did, happy cakeday and welcome to the forum! 🎂

    Door glass issues

Tried both but the passenger side switch doesn't do anything. Also tried it once with the passenger side switch to do both with still the same outcome.

    Door glass issues

I've got the same problem in mine, however the passenger side switch is well synchronised but every time I try to do the driver side it goes down, clicks then goes up but after 10seconds it switches the backlights off and upon releasing the switch it just goes back to flashing again. No matter how many times I do it, it just doesn't sync but rather just overheats the motor, anyone got any ideas??

    Whose Is This?

Seen it for sale at Trax (first picture on the ad), just like Ztox said it's been posted on the Facebook group quite some time ago but I'm unsure whether the person is also a member here.

    Wheels

That was my worry whilst checking the ones I had, surely wheel manufacturers have foreseen the fact that there's a brake disc somewhere close to those wheels? When I picked them up first thing that popped into my mind was finding someone to fabricate them out of metal for me!

    Wheels

Adaptor flanges are usually sold by alloy manufacturers I had mine delivered with the wheels I bought so it might be worth checking out whether that'd be the case with these... These alloys look very nice indeed!
  24. @Squadrone Rosso as far as I recall you were up for this?! Thanks for posting Ross!
  25. Evening all I'm looking at purchasing a set of new Alloys. They are the Japan Racing JR20's, 18" 8.5J and ET35, what are your guys thoughts on these? I'm not looking to use them in track in fact I'm not looking to take it on track any time soon so it's more of a cosmetic change than anything else as I'm really not a big fan of the stock wheels. Hapy Halloween! 🎃 Here's a quick link. http://jr-wheels.com/towar.3048.japan.racing.jr20.18x85.et40.5x112114.silver.mac.html
