    Air Conditioning

It's because 1234yf gas is about 10 times more expensive then the usual 134a that's uses. If 1234yf is 30p per gram and 134a only 3p it soon adds up.

    Air Conditioning

My 62 plate 22k miles needed a regas when I bought it. Took it to Toyota Leicester and they got an external company in to do it, I saw the invoice and it was around £180.
  3. I've had my GT86 for a month now and been exploring what it can do. It's on part worn primacy tyres in the front and new uniroyal rainsport 3's on the rear. It seems really easy to get the TC light to come on and on bends I get the TC light and loud clunky noise from the LSD without really pushing it that hard. Is this normal? Is it my driving style as I'm use to having out right grip from my Elise which has no driver aids, I expected the GT to have more grip before any aids kicked in.

    Tyre Decisons

Don't mix and match, my car behaved very badly with primacy on the front and rainsport 3's on the rear. I've got rainsports all round now and it's much better.

    armrest

Easy job. First couple holes are crucial and a bit of a pain using the bracket itself as it has 3 guide pins on the rear which prevent you from sitting it flush until those holes are drilled.

How often should the TC light come on?

The uniroyals seem to take a few hundred miles to properly bed in, was the same on my Celica. Having driven the car with uniroyals all round now its a lot better, it actually feels like you have 4 wheels on the ground now and the steering has some weight to it. I don't think I've had the traction system braking the rears for me once yet. Turn in is much better and the car is more point and shoot now, I can get on the power earlier out of corners and it has better change of direction similar to that of a Swift Sport that changes direction like a house fly. Braking and traction off the line also improved. I was never expecting Elise levels of grip as that just sticks to the road like no other but the GT now has the grip and handling I was expecting which is more on par, actually better than the other coupes I've driven.

    Hi from Leicester

Hello from Leicester, I pick up my GT86 tomorrow after work, it's going to be a long day. I use to own a mk1 mr2 (imoc member) that I had for 8 years and have also had a few other jap cars, eg. 350z, Swift Sport, Gen7 Celica. After getting a F11 520d Tourer for family duties my E92 320d's time was up. Not sure what plans I have yet so will just enjoy the car for a while before I decide on any mods. It will be used as a daily drive as I also have a S2 Elise 111S for track day fun.

How often should the TC light come on?

Had a couple of really dry hot days so pushed the car a bit to find its limits. I've got another set of uniroyals coming today so hopefully have them fitted later to the front. They do take a while to wear in, was the same on other cars I've used them on but they should of had chance to wear in by now. Next will be getting the geo checked to make sure everything is setup correct.

How often should the TC light come on?

I was thinking of putting some uniroyals on the front also so it's got the same tyres all round, it does understeer a little if you push it in the damp/wet. Just been out again in sport mode and it still does it but less, I really have to push it and upset the car to get it to kick in. Where it would do it before, in sport mode I get wheel spin instead so it's not interfering as much. Looks like a learning process, still getting use to how quick I'm going as you don't feel the speed.

Reading up on it I think your right and it's the abs dabbing the brakes on.

    Hi from Leicester

It's started already, have just ordered an arm rest, mudflaps and k&n panel filter. I haven't even had chance to detail the car yet due to the weather and the mods have begun.

    Single Din Fascia

I have the basic audio system which I believe is just 6.5" speakers in the doors, nothing in the dash and some speakers in the rear. It sounds ok but the head unit isn't great and only really does radio and phone so I plan to upgrade. I've got most the equipment from previous installs I had running really nicely in a Z4, 350Z and Gen7 Celica, it consists of.. Alpine CDA-9886R head unit Imprint PXA-H100 Processor JL Audio 6.5" 650Csi 2 way Components JL 10w6v2-D4 subwoofer in custom box JL Audio 300/2 Slash Amp, 150w rms per channel JL Audio 500/1 Slash Amp, upgraded to 600w rms I've had a look online but cant seem to find much information about a single din fascia kit. I'd like to continue using my imprint processor as I like the results and they don't really do an up to date double din. Anyone currently using a single din head unit, or know where to get a fascia kit?
  13. So I picked up my 62 plate GT86 last week on Thursday knowing it had near new Wanli S1088 tyres on the rear, not being a fan I was always planning on getting these changed so ordered some Uniroyal Rainsport 3's. I took them to my local tyre fitter today on my way home and on removal of the drivers rear found this. Not quite sure what to do and how to play this but I plan on contacting the dealership tomorrow as I consider this pretty dangerous especially as I could of chosen to do a fair few spirited miles on this tyre. Part of me understands they possibly couldn't tell that the tyre had been run while flat and how would you pick up on this unless there is obvious sidewall damage. The other thing is they could just turn round and say I ran it flat.

Good job I changed the tyres...

I've let them know but as you say I'm not bothered what they do with the information. Definitely enjoying the car now, just been out in some seriously heavy rain and the uniroyals are great, not a single wheel spin or slide. The car feels as it should now and I can now explore it's capabilities and limits. Uniroyals were £65 fitted so will look at putting some on the front also.

    Hi from Leicester

Cars sorted and ready to be collected, it just needed a gas topup and no leaks found. Don't really see many GT86's around Leicester, typically the day after I bought mine I saw one but only ever seen 2-3 on the road.

    Hi from Leicester

Yeah it will be sorted at their expense so not too concerned, Sales guy has been pretty good really so hopefully will all be resolved quickly.

    Hi from Leicester

Cars at Toyota Leicester today Air con wasn't working when I picked the car up, never noticed it on the test drive. They've got an external company coming to check the system due to its nature and Inchcape are of course picking up the bill. Saw the paper work and it looked like £220 for a regas but part of me is thinking why has the air con failed so soon. Should get the car back later either way, hopefully its just a regas and no leaks are found. I've also got some Uniroyal Rainsport 3's coming tomorrow so will get them fitted to the rear asap, the Wanli's on there at the moment have got better but I don't trust them in the wet.

    Recommend me some tyres!

Exactly what I thought when I saw them. Tried to negotiate getting them changed but they weren't having it and as they offered me a good price on my part ex I stuck with them. Will try some uniroyals I think, were very good on my heavier 320d and excellent in the wet.

    Recommend me some tyres!

Anyone use Uniroyal Rainsport 3's? My new purchase has brand new Wanli s1088 on the back and let's just say there a little twitchy especially in the wet. I thought I'd give them a go but it's the tyres that need to go. I see v105's are popular but I've used RS3's on various cars now front and rear wheel drive and rate them highly so thought I'd give them a go on the GT86 unless theres and major objections from the people in the know. Only cost £52 each also which I know shouldn't be a factor when picking new tyres.
