How to fix a cross threaded Lug nut + bolt?

I've never looked behind, but can guarantee they are independent. Just get a big hammer out and knock it out. Get a new one and bolt it in. If I'm wrong I'll buy you a pint! Or unsubscribe from this list!! ;-) Rob

How to fix a cross threaded Lug nut + bolt?

I just want to make the point that Engineering is open to anyone, and we don't have to rely on technicians to fit these things. If you can buy them off the shelf then do it. But don't be held hostage to a workshop that can't do things. There's always a third way! Cheers Rob

How to fix a cross threaded Lug nut + bolt?

Just wanting to say hello to you lot. Hello. I assume the stud will just hammer out. And you can get a replacement? Please don't run without the full complement of studs. They are easy to replace but very important. Maybe you need to find a machine shop up there in Manchester, getting a custom made M25x1.25 stud is not that hard. Might cost 50 quid though! Just trying to say hello. I know places that will make custom screws, bolts anything you want, but it does cost money. Sorry. Glad to be part of this community. Rob

    Head unit with 3/4G

Fair point Lauren, Ok, so I go for an Alpine unit, but isn't that a massive focus for theft? What happened to the nice old Kenwood units you can take out with a handle? Maybe i'm showing my age, but this is not an easy problem to solve. Or do I fit some sort of custom carputer with the standard head unit? Thanks, once again for all your replies. Cheers, Rob

    Head unit with 3/4G

Hi, I've had a quick search for what head unit people recommend but couldn't really find a consensus of opinion (There should be a FAQ ;-) . Can anyone recommend something for under 400quid? Cheers, Rob

    FAQ

Thanks Lauren, yep GT86 is definitely lighter, but the RX8 had a little more grunt (or should that be whine?). So what head unit do people go for? I like the idea of one with 3/4G and support for a reversing camera. But maybe I'll get used to the limited rear view. Thanks for the replies. Rob

    FAQ

Thanks, I will have a look. I appreciate the reply. But it does feel a bit lonely out there having a GT86. Does this forum send e-mails. I guess I'm old school relying on e-mails but can't this forum send an e-mail when there is a reply? Still loving the GT86 but I think my RX8 was better! ;-) Rob

    FAQ

Hi, Sorry if I'm missing something, but are there any FAQs on the Forum? I realise this would take some work by one knowledgeable person, but I'm sure there could be a consensus of opinion on SOME topics? ;-) A replacement head unit would seem like a good one (for me personally at the moment) and possibly one for the Turbo/Supercharger upgrade. I would offer to help, but I've only had the car for a couple of months. It's a great car, interior very cheap and cheerful, but I know we didn't buy these cars for interior luxury but it would be nice to improve things. I've got the Focal speakers and a scattering of resonance suppression pads, but would like to get a new head unit asap. How do the Polls work? Are we able to up-vote replies like many other forums? Yours very confused, Rob 2018 GT86
