Twigman got a reaction from nikndel in Dealer rant!
Me too....I have little/no choice - it's Steven Eagell or massive inconvenience.
And the Service Manager tried to tell me that they have a good reputation amongst GT86 'club members' and on the forums....
Yeah right
It seems the only qualification required to work for Steven Eagell is to be able to say "Black is white" and actually convince yourself of its veracity.

Twigman got a reaction from scbrz in percolating kettle noise
Yes!!
I've been trying to describe this sound myself and now you mention it it does sound like a coffee percolator. And yes, it happens on anything but the smoothest of roads. I am on std suspension and Dunlop Winter Sport 5 tyres - it happened with my PS4s too so I'm not sure it's the tyres. I've only really noticed it since I blocked the sound hole. It is very irritating though. I wish I could isolate it and make it go away.

Twigman got a reaction from spikyone in Drivers Club Musicians
I play bass for Sad Lovers & Giants https://sadloversandgiants.co.uk/
I downsized my rig when i got the GT86 as I couldn't get my 2x12 in the boot.
We closed the last night of the Wave Gotik treffen festival in Leipzig this year - here's the last song (we'd not rehearsed it and the keyboards broke down during it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVcFFXkcPsk
Our guitarist is in Above & Beyond https://www.aboveandbeyond.nu/

Twigman got a reaction from Deacon in Condensed mode not condensing
I'm on a PC running W7Pro and firefox
I have discovered that on another forum I'm a member of, that runs the same software, the same problem exists - probably a buggy software update.

Twigman reacted to nerdstrike in Which winter tyre?
Just writing from the verge where my winter tyre has a big old puncture. It's on the inner shoulder so that won't repair either.
I thought it was just slippery roads initially!

Twigman got a reaction from Deacon in Steering Wheel Locks
I've got a StopLock steering wheel lock which I used for a while but have given up using it primarily because, when it's not being used, it rattles so loudly I can hear it even when it's in the boot.

Twigman got a reaction from ThatGuyThere in Seriously want a GT86
It's a Toyota cost but involves effectively a full engine rebuild and from what I've heard they've not been 100% successful.

Twigman got a reaction from Jay in That unique GT86 sound!
It could do with a 7th longer gear.....keeping the 6 it already has. Cruising at 90-100mph (140-160kph) puts the engine right where I don't want it (MT).
It has GT in the name, which stands for 'Grand Tourer' in most peoples' dictionaries.....it should be capable of doing some 'grand touring'.
Clearly the designers had 70mph cruising as their priority when selecting the top ratio - some of us like to cruise a bit faster. Often 70mph feels like I could get out and walk faster.
Perhaps I crave an Aston Martin?

Twigman got a reaction from Angelina in That unique GT86 sound!
I often find myself looking for a 7th gear, particularly on the motorway, in Germany, at about 90mph

Twigman got a reaction from Lauren in Tail Wagging
I just drove home and pressed the TRC button for longer than usual and the VSC light went out! Well I never! 5 years and that was the first time. Gave it sone welly on the way home coming off roundabouts...not a twitch! I wonder if it’ll rain before my car goes in for repair? I’m quite looking forward to it raining now!

I've bought 2 sets from them in recent months. My Michelin PS4s were manufactured the month before I bought them. My Dunlop WinterSport5s which I bought last month (yet to be used) were manufactured wk29 2018 so are 'last years' stock.....

Twigman got a reaction from Angelina in Tail Wagging
I have been mildly disappointed at the LACK of tail happiness of the 86. Perhaps I need to get an old 911?
My Triumph Spitfire, with its 80 odd bhp and dodgy tranverse leaf spring rear suspension was far more tail happy.
I find you really have to be trying to break traction to actually get the back out. I drive in 'VSC Sport' mode all the time and even then I have to really try to get the back out (even when I had the Primacy HPs on). And I don't hang around.
I am bemused by the many posts I see from people 'complaining' that they're caught unawares by the back end suddenly snapping out? How people? How?

I suspect my many years riding my Fireblade has taught me throttle sensitivity and it just translates to the smooth way i drive a car

Twigman reacted to ttjt16 in New windscreen - DAB aerial??
Hi @Twigman,
I had my screen replaced by Autoglass and they peeled it off by carefully sliding a razor blade or something similar down behind it, they had to do that twice too as the first replacement screen I had fitted was substandard and the black finishing strip on the A pillars wasn't parallel all the way along the side of the screen, ended up having to insist on a Toyota screen and one of their better fitters (they grade them internally apparently) to fit it. I seem to remember that when I asked the first windscreen fitter about removing the DAB aerial he said that if it broke when he did it it wouldn't be covered by their insurance as he was doing me a favour, might be worth checking this out before you have the windscreen replaced.

My car is 5 1/2 years old and I only noticed it about a year ago......we're on the same schedule, it seems.

Mine does it too.
It almost sounds like the car is breathing.

Twigman got a reaction from BRZ-123 in Which winter tyre?
I knew that as soon as I bought them summer would return and how right I was. The winters will sit on the pallet in the warehouse for a few weeks yet, I suspect. I do 90% of my driving in the morning before 10am and in the evening after 7pm - when the temp drops to 8C or so at these times of day is when I'll swap. Expecting to have to do that early to mid November.

Twigman got a reaction from MartinT in My band did a radio session in LA
I got a new DSLR last week and before reformatting an SD card for my old one I had a hunt through the files on it.
I discovered several video clips which I'd totally forgotten about.
My band did a tour of USA last year and recorded a radio session in Los Angeles.
Our merch man had wandered around during the session with my DSLR taking video.
I DL'd a trial of some video editing software and cobbled together this: [I'm the fella on the bass]

Water is one of the main products of efficient combustion.
Nothing to worry about
