  1. £30 plus £5 delivery unless you can collect locally.
  2. I use BP 97 which seems ok. I may switch to 99RON as I do less miles now, and see if it makes any difference. Avoid 95 though, feels like it does the car no good at all.

    Valve failure 2014 GT86

Might be worth phoning the dealer.. my car is a 2014 63 plate but it was eligible for the recall as I guess it was built in that time.
  4. Noticed on the cap, it said DOT 3 only. I assume there’s no harm in using 4 or 5.1... but wondering whether to stick with Toyota stuff.

Why do Toyota use DOT 3 brake fluid?

I’ve tended to use 5.1 in the past on track and always been fine, I feel that the expensive fluids are a band aid for inadequate brakes/cooling.

    Spare keys?

Unfortunately probably the going rate for a modern key I was quoted £450 for a new OEM fob and programming on my old Boxster, and that was just a old style fob.

    Worst Car Ever Driven

I quite liked the Aygo other than the terrible driving position and seats.
  8. Preferably OEM wheels, if there’s any Primo owners around?

    Wanted - 16 inch wheels

Thanks all. I found some VW Golf GTI mk4 wheels on eBay, fit perfectly and I’m pleased with the way the car drives.

    Wanted - 16 inch wheels

No tyres I take it? How does the car drive on these compared to standard?

    New car

True, it would still be a fun drive with sticky tyres as it's just a great precise chassis. What I would say though, is if it's not driven 'enthusiastically' I would think there's better cars out there, better engines, comfort etc. I happen to think it would make a nice driveway ornament too, cool looking cars.

    New car

What I always say, is the low grip tyres is kind of the point of the car?

    Covid lockdown battery issues

I think Toyota replace the original batteries with a bigger one, free of charge. You may have to argue a bit and try different dealers. My car has, since before I bought, had a 65Ah Toyota battery and I left it 2 weeks over winter and it was fine.

Bringing an 86 back from the dead

Enjoying the videos, they remind me of the DedicationBlog gt86 build vlogs 👍

Need help with BBK kit (Reyland kit or other)

Will the stock brakes hold up when using the OE Michelins, and stock suspension? I might put fresh brake fluid in first.

    Insurance Renawal Time

I've been with Admiral for years, they price match each time, answer calls quickly on the call centre. I had a claim on my VX220 a few years ago and it went to the specialist repairer no questions asked. Happy customer!

    Your Fuel Economy?

    Ah that's much more reasonable

    Your Fuel Economy?

Wow, 8mpg on track has to hurt! My MR2 does15mpg on track, maybe the 86 won't be replacing it for track duties.

Worth trying your spare key/changing the battery in the fob?

    OEM Air and Cabin Filters

If you ever drive up near Reading I'd be interested in 1 of each?

    Tail Wagging

My car is on 28000 miles, looks like original tyres and still a good 3-4mm left. Not sure I'll be driving it in the snow though!

    Tail Wagging

Maybe you're used to cars that understeer? There's not much safety net on the 86 so if you've got a lot of lock on, small prod of the throttle will tighten the line nicely.
