  2. My battery on my MY17 BRZ has finally given up. and as I understand most folks uprate the battery when replacing is it to a 60ah or 65ah? Sadly neither the RAC chap who came out to assist me or my local Halfords have any compatable ones to offer me. Due to the reversed terminals I suspect🙄 Where have owners found the best place to purchase a quality replacement?

    Cat back & manifold advice

I will have an ARK GriP catback (polished tip) for sale soon. https://www.torqen.uk/toyota/toyota-gt86/exhausts/exhaust-systems/3851-toyota-gt86-ark-grip-exhaust-system-burnt-tip-sm1202-0213g.html Purchased and fitted Oct 20. This is lovely deep sounding system even with the standard manifold. It also does't drone at all due to the nature of the Helmholtz design.
  5. I am running the Ohlins SUSMP21 coilovers with 5kg springs all round. They came with 40/30kg springs upon purchase in 2019 which I found a little soft on track. As for ride comfort, set at a anywhere from midway to soft settings will have them riding AND handling way better than stock. Just be aware that the strut design makes fitting camber bolts nye on impossible, so to obtain any camber you are looking at top mounts. I like many others have experienced the infamous Ohlins 'clonk' at low speeds over undulated road surfaces which is definitely related to the top mount to strut connection area https://www.gt86.org.uk/forums/forums/topic/8471-coilover-help-required/?tab=comments#comment-125547. I spent a great deal of time and money diagnosing the issue and assuming I had purchased damaged goods, the dampers were tested by Ohlins. They got a clean bill of health, and the top mounts were replaced FOC. The noise vanished once the stock mounts were fitted to the Ohlins struts, so the top mounts are where the noise originates. Saying that I also had some lovely Raceseng top mounts which were also ‘clunky’ at low speeds combined with the Ohlins struts. Obviously some NVH is to be expected on any coil over set up but the annoying noise I have experienced with these does cheapen the driving experience given that they are far more expensive than many other set ups which don’t suffer the same issue. Saying all of that the actual damping that can be obtained for both Road & Track is an excellent compromise IMO.

    Coilover help required

I am having a prolonged issue with front end noise on my coilovers and am seriously considering going back to stock. I am looking for feedback with those that have gone this route. I realise NVH is increased especially with adjustable top mounts but the noise I am experiencing appears to be coming from one side only and can be best described as a metallic 'clonk' There is no noise whilst statically turning the wheels. There is no noise when specifically braking or accelerating. It can only be heard whilst driving at low speed in any direction over an undulated surface and I can create it by standing on the driver’s side sill and bouncing the car. The noise is coming from the top of the offside strut top. Vehicle is a facelift 2017 BRZ. Coilovers are Ohlins R & T SUSMP21 (purchased new) It is lowered about 25mm and preload is set at recommended settings for the 50Nm springs The coilovers were purchased in 2019 and fitted with Raceseng top mounts. I got absolutely no noise for around 6 months. Then it slowly developed a slight 'click' from the front end over rough surfaces and although I found it acceptable the suspension components were checked out; everything was tight, and no issues were found. Suspected noise was diagnosed as likely to be a top mount bearing. As the noise got progressively louder and turned into a 'clonk' I was convinced something was loose or something was hitting something else as the suspension was being compressed. Upper stut nuts were torqued up fine as was the lower nut where the adjustable knob is, and no leaks were evident. At this point the dampers were removed once again, externally inspected and all other components checked over. There are no contact marks of anything rubbing around any of the moving suspension parts. As it appeared on only one side, and a dodgy bearing was suspected on one of the Raceseng top mounts, to rule them out as an issue Ohlins own top mounts were installed but the noise persisted! Addressing other potential offending components, the lower control arms have recently been replaced with Whiteline's roll centre/bump steer kit and on the last inspection a new set of 50Nm springs were fitted all round (original were 40Nm front and 30Nm rear) New stock ARB links were also fitted to eliminate the possibility of them being the culprit. TBH each time the vehicle is first driven the noise almost vanishes but within a few hundred miles it returns🙄 In December last year I finally conceded the only component that could still be at fault was the actual damper. As I had only a few months of warranty left both fronts were duly sent off to an Ohlins service centre. A dyno report came back all good on both and as the only visible sign of wear was the upper bushings (which they stated was very slight) they were replaced under warranty. The dampers were re-fitted yesterday, and the dreaded 'clonk' is still ****** present! 😠 I would appreciate any advice on whether I might have missed something or where this noise could be coming from. Likewise what noises if any do you experience after fitting coilovers and what would you deem as acceptable

What tyre size should I go for?

I've recently tyred the same size wheel and it took me a while to decide. First thing up is recommended sized tyre width for the wheel. 225 is min and 255 your max. Rolling radius is next up. Enter stock sizes then ones you would prefer to check differences in this example website https://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator/ I discounted the 225 from the off and although they would have been the lightest and most playable set up I figured the stretch would be too much Having already ran a 245 on a 17x9 wheel (245x40x17) I fancied going down to a 235 to reduce not only width but weight. Unfortunately matching a 235x40x18 to the stock size means running a 20mm larger rolling radius which I personaly didn't fancy. In the end I went 245x35x18 which is only a 4mm difference. Tyre choice Michelin PS4 as I had already run a set on the car and liked them.

Recording in Gwrych castle in 1988 well before it was sadly left to vandalism, rot and ruin. Although it is recently being restored to its almost former glory and anyone who watches too much TV will know it as the current home of 'Im a celebrity get me out of here' I still have the white kit although I play something a little more civilised these days
