Subota Boy reacted to Rocket Panda in New edition to the GT86 stable
Facelift GT86 has recently joined the others at our 86 stable in the heart of Sussex 😀
Good to meet up with some lovely friends, old and new, at Simply Japanese on Sunday, been attending with the 86's there since 2016 so a bit of a soft spot for this chilled event!😍

Worth it if you can find one and there is still plenty of spare parts and advice available from Matt at Cosworth. I bought mine used from a guy in Northern Ireland who put his car back to stock. Keep an eye on the Facebook groups, seems to be the best way to find rare used parts.

Tbh we’ve all known for years that cone filters suck in hot engine bay air and that the stock air boxes are not the restriction that the aftermarket would make you believe. Thousands of people have done back to back dynos proving this.

Deeper bass note will be lush!
Agree about facebook. Lots of repeat questions and no continuity. What is wrong with forums? You get to know people.

Today I decided to try to improve my bonnet, which is full of stone chip repairs with ill-matching paint and also suffered from an accident with a paint spillage.
I clay barred a long curved mark on the bonnet with the recommended clay and clay lube. Then I used the orange buffer with my orbital machine and Meguire's paint compound, being careful to apply it exactly as in the video. I then used isopropyl alcohol to clean and check the area. I repeated this, then cleaned and polished the area. No sign of the mark, just a nice and evenly shiny area of the bonnet.
This may seem like amateur hour to some of you but for me it was a big deal. It's given me the confidence to do some more areas tomorrow.

Subota Boy reacted to Conscript in Using sub-standard fuel and steps to mitigate the problems
As long as you don't have any modifications, then just put 95RON in. The car may lose a little top end power, but if you're using it to commute, you're barely going to notice.
I've see people on the Facebook group claiming that the car MUST have 98RON as a minimum because "it says so on the petrol cap". Which isn't true (at least for my model year) - it says "Use 98RON fuel", but that's because it's recommended - there's no suggestion that you must ONLY use 98RON, or that anything less will cause your engine to explode. If you refer to the handbook, it does state quite explicitly that 98RON fuel is recommended for the best performance, but that 95RON fuel can be used with no detrimental effect other than slightly reduced power - but obviously, the inside of a petrol cap is a bit small to relay all that information so they just put "Use 98RON" on it.
If you're looking to save some money, which is perfectly understandable especially when doing high miles, then I'd just switch to 95RON and not bother with additives personally. Obviously this may not apply to modified vehicles which have been mapped specifically for higher octanes.

Discovered that my 86 can make into a multi story without grounding out.
Also, shamefully discovered photo editing software 🤷♂️

Bought AP BRAKE KIT, fitted it and the clearance wasn’t enough for the wheels. I had to borrow a company car while I ordered 10mm spacers. Now the car has sexy brakes and a nice +10mm fitment and it’s sexy🥰

Set the alarm for half-five and went out for a drive this morning. Sacrificed a lie in. Didn't regret it.

My first contribution to the forum. Had it about six months now and love it, it’s got a few tweaks including a turbo which sees it out out 300hp. Heading to Royal Steering Wheels tomorrow to have my new wheel fitted

Got a red one of each, but can't decide which I like best.
