    Hello folks.
Was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a place to supply and fit a roll Cage. I want it to be MSA certified so it can be used for racing in the future. So if you have ever had one fitted where was it from and how much did it cost you?
By the way this is not for my gt86 but another car. But I have seen a few caged cars on here and trust people's opinions. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks.

This should go without saying but anyone who attends this DO NOT GO ON TRACK. It's really not worth it with the amount of b***ends on track that think they're heroes. I guarantee at some point during the day you will see a crash (probably multiple) If you're really that desperate at least try to get on one of the club track slots so it's all a group of like minded people.

Hope you all have a great time over the festive period and looking forward seeing you at Donington, Silverstone and many other club events and social meets next year (we'll put more in the calendar in January).

I'm struggling to see your argument here? I base my opinion on evidence shown through many many trials and tests of winter tyres. - They work and that can't be denied.  Quite ignorant of you to think that because you don't need them, no one else does.

Edit - In reply the the salesmans dream comment, my winter tyres cost £400 which you may view as an unnecessary purchase.
Far less than the £4.5k you've just spent on a Turbo that I view as unnecessary purchase.

    Different perspectives that's all.

    Well,
I had a blast this last weekend with a run around Twisted Sisters.  I was with a mix of other cars, most of which had coilovers, but without even pushing it was able to maintain a comfortable lead.  Even on stock suspension and sport tires, the BRZ is a very capable car in the twisties that puts nearly everything else out there to shame.  Texas is experiencing a butterfly and moth migration currently, so I did my part to protect plants from the coming caterpillar problems.

I'd be keen to help with events in the south west. Perhaps socials, car events and some trackdays. I could get us at all the Castle Combe action days and events however I will be racing again next season and racing would take priority over any BRZ events to me. I can also help fill days if we decide to have a private track day with a mix of experienced racers, no track day heros in cars not set up and causing lots of red flags!!

I would like to put myself forward as Event Coordinator.
If we plan in advance and split events/ ideas between several coordinators, I think we can aim for the following (consider this to be my pitch for the position):
    - 5-6 "official" club events through the year: Early in 2019 we will conduct a poll of preferred events (Japfest x2, Tunerfest (1 or x2?), Beaulieu, etc.). Very happy to organize or help organizing (if I am in the UK I would intend to attend them if they are within 2hrs of London). We would need to decide based on interest (we really should have more than couple cars on stand for it to be "official"), but the number can be increased (I like Castle Combe, even if its a bit of a drive for me for example);
    - Couple "joint" events (?): I think it would be good to link-up with other clubs on large events, particularly if we only have few attendees. (I am very grateful for @gavin_t inviting me to join Weekend Racers stand at Castle Combe - good bunch and would certainly be interested doing it together). I am happy to coordinate these as well if we have interest and invitation is extended. I also think in such case we should be prepared to "open up" couple of our official events or ask organizers if they could allocate close-by lots for us (again I am happy to lead on this)
    - 3-4 "official" club track days: Lets see how Bedford event goes, but if we have interest (and there seem to be quite a few of us who tend to do regular track days). Again, we should plan a bit more in advance (although most people seem to book quite late) and have days in different locations. For 2019 we can aim for: Brands Hatch, Donnington, Snetterton + (may be) Silverstone, but we can decide by poll. I can organize these and will try to get some discount. If there is interest we can also try to get dedicated instructor for a day for our group.
    - Couple training events: I will contact @CATDT and think we should have enough interest to organize GT86 club programme at Milbrook with CAT Driver Training (we did in 2017 and I would highly recommend it regardless of your experience - in fact after doing couple track days this year I feel I need to go back now). Club members can also recommend other suitable options (I know @Adi did Carlimits few times and thinks its a good option as well and we can get 4 GT86 together for this, or even organize few days like it).
    - Calendar updates/ non-club specific events: Many of us attend Pistonheads and Goodwood events (and often aim to park together). I can update calendar, remind people and check if we may want to organize a pub lunch or drive after the event.
    - Social events: @Leevsfortyone been great getting us together for Cars & Coffee and regular dinners (I only with it would be closer for me to attend more). I would like to do smth like this down South, and I would like to aim for 1 or 2 club drives over the spring/ summer months with couple stop-overs on the way (we can get GoPro, photos, etc).
    - Children friendly event: I would like to come up with an idea for family-oriented/ child friendly event (again @Leevsfortyone had a good idea, but we probably need to think a bit more)
We also would need more coordination between FB and forum members (most seem to be on both, but not all, some of us have different nics/ names as well).
Finally, I suggest we want more than 3 Event Co-ordinators. I would suggest 4 or 5, with additional volunteers helping out.

I would be very happy to be part of the committee (but I would not be able to become a formal director, even for a non-profit organisation).

I am also very happy to take responsibility for organising:

    A) several "official " club events (south and anywhere within 2 hrs of London) like Tunerfest South, Castle Combe action days, etc - we should take a vote though to keep decent attendance

may be couple "official " track days or training days (CATD was very good, can try to organise again). We can do say 1 at Brands or Silverstone and 1 at Donny to start with.

    C) Lee is much better organising social events, but I can do better and get few organised down South/ South East.

I second that the rear speakers are pointless.  The focal kit is a decent upgrade and does sound much better with an amp.  I ended up doing mine bit by bit until I was happy with it.  First thing I got was the focals along with some sound deadening for the doors.  Definite improvement but could tell they weren't being driven properly.  Next up was a compact amp.  4x45w rms.  Set in 2 channel mode to give 2x90w rms to front speakers.  Rears are still in but not being used.  Sounds much better and deadening helps a lot with mid bass and eliminating rattles.  Next I decided to change the head unit.  Went with an xtrons android unit.  The one recommended in a thread on here.  Improvement in sound again and it's actually quite decent.  No doubt a major brand will be slightly better but as I'm only using pre-outs there's not a lot in it.  And finally ended up getting an active subwoofer for some low end punch. Had to do some more deadening in boot and parcel shelf at this point due to rattles.  I'm now happy with it and there's no rattles unless I'm really driving the system hard.  I've spent roughly £900 all in.  That includes a front dashcam for the xtrons along with a reverse camera.  Bit more than I planned on originally but it now does everything I want it to.

An Alpine unit was the MY2017 Sat Nav upgrade option, and I think I'm the only person who got one!
Now trying to find the model number is an impossible task, as you've found Alpine don't even refer to it on their site. I think its based on the INE-W997D but with buttons on the side like their Freestyle X702D-F set-up. Sorry, I know that's vague.
It works well but I find DAB reception through the sharkfin a bit patchy so I'm looking at replacing that with a small whip. Of course trying to find out what connections are up by the aerial without dropping the headlining is proving impossible.
I'm also considering the Focals at some point.

@Sighe98 actually I remember now, when I had mine done, with no steering wheel controls it would have involved an extra stalk. This means there might not actually be an option to integrate but you'd have to contact Alpine to see what is possible. Sorry, not much help, it was over five years ago that I had mine done now.

I know that Alpine offers steering control but it will cost you a fair bit more for the head unit.
The rear speakers are best disconnected they are a total waste of time and not necessary in such a small cabin. Don't waste your money on that.  Invest your money in better front speakers and go two way components with a crossover. Loads have fitted the Focal opton it's a good upgrade for not doing much to be fair.
It's only really worth getting an amp if you are going to get a sub as well. In the boot is the obvious option really. Different head unit, better front speakers, disconnect the rears and run an amp on three channels, one for the sub and the other two for the front speakers. If you really want to make it sound good, consider a digital sound processor like the Audison Bit10. I junked all my audio when my car was a month old and went for  full install. Thought the stock setup was utter shite. I tried the JBL, still not good enough IMO.

Focals are fine if you are after cheep and cheerful option with noticeable difference to stock.

I dont think spending anothet 400-500 quid would be worthwhile for me, have other priorities (but that depends in how important its for you).

I would like to add woofer instead of spare which can be removed when I go on track. Think it would make a big difference to the music I usually listen to, but it was too expensive for imo.

If anything consider adding more sound deadening. I should have added more, may be will do at some point.

Apologies, my bad about Beaulieu. Was trying to be helpful and put few events in the diary, but was not sure about etiquette if not attending it myself. Thanks @Leevsfortyone.
The rule "you put it in the diary - you "own" it" is right and I will organize stand for Summer Action Festival @ Castle Combe (already done for JDM Castle Combe & Tunerfest South).
I think it may also be helpful to put forward events people would like to attend or thinking about well in advance and for those accessing forum on mobile decides with no calendar having some way to suggest events (hence the topic I started)
@rob275 and @Leevsfortyone - very happy to help with events south or within 2hrs from London.
