  1. Fitting the cossie baffle plate isn't that high really. From what I can remember, a large chunk (almost half?) is down to the sealant being expensive - then a couple hours of labour for removal, putting the plate in and applying the sealant. Car then stays overnight for it to cure but obviously you're not paying for that time. I had other things done at the time but I'm sure it was around a similar price you've been quoted.

The sealant is about £4 worth. Had my baffle plate fitted by rogue Motorsport on the weekend. I would say that cost for the baffle plate is reasonable. It will take them probably a lot more time than that if they show due care and attention, cleaning up the sump and block could take a while.

However the manifold has to be taken off and put on with the recall. I think RRG actually left my manifold attached with the front pipe and just detached it from the block. I think that's a stupid cost anything more than 100 quid would be ridiculous.

  2. Sam534, Did you have any issues with the iso harness not clipping into the OEM stereo securely? Im having an issue with the smaller of the 2 connectors making a secure connection and staying clipped in??
I must admit I have had some crackling in the rear right speaker I've yet to diagnose, it may be related to that. But I didn't have an issue when I fitted it.

  3. Hi all,
New (used) first time GT86 owner here. How much effort does the brake pedal need?, how long is a piece of string question I know. Driving my Kia runabout I can brake around town just using my foot pressure/weight only, the GT86 needs a firmer push - no initial bite - at higher speeds seems relatively 'normal'.
The car has been recently MOT'd, I haven't inspected the brakes but can see the anti rattle plates look new. Car pulls up fine in a straight line, servo works fine, all brake seem warm after a drive so I don't think any calipers are sticking. Does the GT86 need a firmer push at lower speed? Any thoughts please
A lot of cars have quite a lot of assisted braking. Not sure if its a good thing or not but the gt86 doesn't seem to have that in my experience. It may be a reflection that your brake pads and discs are a bit tired

  4. I didn't speak to him personally but he was such a precense in the club, had a few clashes with him xD. But he had a strong personality and that made him stand out.

Yes perhaps a gt86 procession following the funeral car, and park up around the area or line the local roads to all give him a send off as the cars drive through.

  5. How have you found the system now that it’s all bedded in? Do the doors rattle apart? Do you think it needs a subwoofer? Or rear speaker upgrade?

Bad rattles in the window switches, not thought of a fix yet.

Rears are garbage but I've just faded it forward that's fine for me.

Woofer... Yes I think so. These are nice and bassy at stand still but as soon as you get moving the road noice overtakes all the bass unless you have it cranked right up.

So yeah think I'll run a small woofer at some point.

  6. When you get the new oil in and the new oil filter installed, prime the oil system by pressing the clutch and accelerator pedals all the way.
That kills the spark and let the engine crank for as long as you need it to get the oil through the engine.
    Never knew this!

  7. Hi, On the subject of Aux port (3.5mm) is there any way to get it to output the Audio from the head unit (Touch2 Go) to run a lead to the back to connect to an active sub?!
Aux is input not output, you will have to use high level input from the rear speaker wires

  8. Just to dig up an old thread but I’m going to get my alignment checked again soon.
i have noticed sometimes when driving on the motorway the car feels light and seems to move around a bit, also on bumpy roads it seems to track and pull with the cancer of the road. Is there any settings I could amend to improve straight line stability?  I might be being over sensitive to it and I put it down a bit to the side winds here on the open roads but if I could make it more planted I think I would prefer that

Slight toe in at the rear is all really make sure toe is equal or slightly out at the front. Making sure camber is pretty balanced matters. Also check your tyre treads especially on the rear I have found extreme instability under acceleration from a difference in 1.5mm in tread depth.

  9. A church said, you do not require to change suspension to use a BBK however, if with you current choice of tyres you can lock the wheels its pointless fitting a BBK. If however your using stickier rubber and you cannot lock the brakes with them then a BBK will give you increased performance.

For reference have the Rayland 330mm kit:
    http://www.reyland.co.uk/subaru-impreza/

It fits under my Rota Boost, 17x17.5 E48 with a 15mm spacer. It also fits under my XXR 527 18x8.75 E35.
Heat management is the main reason for bbk not braking force?
