    Simply Japanese Beaulieu 2022

Simply Japanese at Beaulieu Motor Museum Sunday, July 24th, 2022 Simply Japanese will be returning to Beaulieu on 24 July, for an excellent day out that owners and enthusiasts will enjoy. Set in the parkland of the National Motor Museum, the rally is open to all ages and models of Japanese vehicles and is always a highlight of the events calendar. A great day out for all the family and a great way to meet fellow members for a chat and tips on modding you car. Simply Japanese – Beaulieu (semantic.co.uk) As well as being an opportunity to see an array of Japanese vehicles, there is also the opportunity to enjoy all that Beaulieu has to offer... your entry will include admission to all the Beaulieu attractions including the National Motor Museum, World of Top Gear, Palace House and Beaulieu Abbey. We'll have a club stand this year! To book tickets: 1. Go to the link below selecting Participant ticket Simply Japanese – Beaulieu Early bird price of £13 is a very good value considering that the museum entry is included 2. Provide additional information about the car model and reg and include "Toyota GT86/ Subaru BRZ" in the Car Club Name box Hope the weather is good this year
  2. Its sad to be reading review like this (from @itsuki), but considering many of us from the UK have used Tuning Developments multiple times I feel compelled to chip in too. I have used them many times (first NA, then TD Turbo kit), and in fact all my major mods have been done or installed by Mike's team ( @Mike@TD.co.uk). Never had any issues and the service was always superb (had a manifold blow once, Mike fitted me basically next day and got it sorted pronto). Admittedly, I would go to Warrington myself and speak to Mike as to what I want/ what options are available, etc. I am not surprised reading "horror stories" about shipping recently. We have covid, brexit and particularly over November-December I had parcels lost, delivered 3-4 weeks later, etc (for example my new wheels were delayed, and then DHL notification arrived a week after the wheels themselves - go figure). Large number of satisfied customers hopefully will back me up with their 1st hand experience, although there would be an occasional story with unhappy ending (as I have heard with forged engine) - like with any business. Limited Google or FB reviews are not (probably) the representative sample, although anyone who feels they have to leave a 1* review should be listened to by the business aiming to improve their customer service. I hope with the move to new premises and increase of business Mike will also get someone to help with the customer service/ tracking shipping/ other admin and client communication stuff.

Track Day - Bedford Autodrome - Feb 21st

Trackday - Bedford GT - Monday, February 21st £119 (Opentrack) There is nowhere else in the world quite like Bedford Autodrome. The venue has been purpose-built for speed and space. The track, which is just under 5 miles long, was designed from scratch by former F1 driver Jonathan Palmer. It is laid out across a 384 acre site, with vast run-off areas that provide optimum safety. There’s no motor racing at the Autodrome, which means no crowd-protecting safety barriers or concrete walls – guests can drive to their limits safe in the knowledge that pushing too hard will result in nothing more than a harmless spin across endless flat grass. Noise limit 101db static/ 87.5db drive-by. 16. After reading others reviews and comments (thanks @Lauren, with a benefit of hindsight I should have read it more carefully first time around), I decided that installing harness for track days would be a good option. Now, I still need by rear seats fully usable and accessible (including toddler in a full child seat), so proper bucket seats, roll cage or even a permanent/ semi-permanent harness bar were not an option. Why Schroth Rallye 3 ASM? Schroth Rallye 3 ASM seem like the only widely available and commented option for stock seats which doesn't need at least a dedicated harness bar. From what I understood its basically an improved versions of 3 points belt construction but due to 4 points and individual belts adjustments (think CG lock ) it holds body snug while anti-submarining mechanism prevents you going under the belt (an issue with typical 4 point harness). The rear part of the harness can be quickly disconnected (via clip mechanism) and harness can be stowed behind/ under the front seats making 4 seats fully usable in a matter of seconds. Link to Schroth website below with more useful details. https://www.schrothracing.com/products/rallye-belts#1576Attachment points Note that there are separate left and right versions of the belt, different for driver and passenger side. Note that black plastic thing needs to be on the INSIDE strap. The left and right attachment points connect to the front seat belt brackets (admittedly Mike attached them for me, so below is the finished photo). Installation instruction suggests rear attachment point can be either on C-pillar (whete safety belt reel attached) or D-point (where seat belt or isofix bracket attached to the seat frame). However, the angle of the tail strap should not be more than 45% from the line parallel to the ground, but even with seats forward it was more than that, so C-pillar attachment point is the only viable option for correct angle of the trail strap.Tail strap InstallationStep 1: Remove rear quarter trim a) Start with rear airbag area trim removal Use flat head screwdriver or trim removal tool, put it under the trim right where airbag sign is. It has 5 clips and should come off relatively easy. There are 3 yellow string clips which you can leave this piece to hang on (I started by removing it but then realized its enough space even if you leave it just hanging loose). b. Unclip rear side quarter trim 2 flimsy black clips (easy to loose, get few extra on ebay, 3 quid for 20), then carefully pull towards you to un-clip the top. That should give you enough space just to pull the trim slightly towards you. c) Unscrew and remove triangular trim piece near the window. Use normal screwdriver to remove the bolt holding the trim piece, then pull towards the front of the car at slight angle to unclip the white clip (careful not to loose it), should come off pretty easily. All these are very straightforward, takes no more than 10 mins each side.Step 2: unscrew the bolt holding rear safety belt reel Here you would need breaker bar and socket extender if you want this step to be simple. (I struggled with normal short socket spanner for long time, ended up going and buying breaker bar - well needed it anyway). Socket extender makes a difference as you can stay clear of hanging trim piece.Step 3: install harness ring attachment You can do it either on top of the reel attachment or under it (although I decided against this option as it was rubbing against the metal end of the reel). Be careful not to lose metal spacer - I ended up using tape to hold 2nd one piece of cloth to prevent it dropping down the frame. Either original bolt or the bolt provided with the harness can be used here. As you can see they are similar although original bold is easier to tighten up, so I ended up re-using it. It is necessary to bend the ring attachment slightly. If you can bend to match the shape of the safety belt attachment the belt would fit nicely into the same slot as the safety belt (I notices that the double strap on my harness is shorter than on Lauren’s making these few extra mms quite important). I managed to do it on the passenger side but did not want to bend the ring back and force more than couple times so on the driver side its slightly off meaning the thick part strap starts where the belt comes out from the under the trim (I see Lauren removed the plastic piece for both belts to sit together, may do the same). Step 4: put the trim back In reverse order: A) Triangular piece – be careful not to lose write plastic clip (I manage to lose one), although with screw tightened it seem to be fine. Rear quarter trim – the top clip is very shallow and comes off quite easily because the extra width of the 2 belts put pressure on the trim. With the rear seats closed you don’t really notice it, but as mentioned above may be removing top plastic piece would be a better option C) Airbag trim cover – this one comes back in easily and nicely as it as multiple longer clips Will test the harness next week at Castle Combe and update.

The British Motor Show Thursday, Aug 18th - Sunday, Aug 21st, 2022 Farnborough International Exhibition Center This iconic show returned in a new format in 2021, celebrating all things motoring, past, present and future. We took all the things you love about cars and put them in one place. The British motor Show returns in 2022 with more cars, more entertainment and more fun. With an additional hall and even more entertainment, the show will be delivering a bigger and more action-packed fun family weekend! Home - The British Motor Show (see also further details in the attached file) New for 2022:• Additional halls • More driving experiences• Increased motorsport area• New automotive-themed game zone• Motorhome and Leisure zone• Extended Premier GT Supercar paddock• Additional Catering zones It looks like 2021 was a good show and suggest for next year we try to get a club stand. Even though its a 4-day event looks like its going to be more flexible: - we can change cars/ people on different days and have varying number of cars (i.e. 6 on one day; 8 on another, etc) - layout of the car club plot can be re-arranged depending on the number of cars we have; - cars can be taken home each day and returned on another day, or can be left and collected on the last day; - tickets may be free for this attending with the car club (although TBC) for car and driver (not additional passengers) Kevin (@The Minion) kindly offered to be there all 4 days and I am planning to be there Friday-Saturday. Ideally we would want to have a few people/ cars attending most of the days to have some club representation. Please let me know who would like to attend (and if you know days that would be great, if not you can decide later). Look forward to organising a club stand in 2022! 1. @The Minion 2. @VAD17 (Friday, Saturday) BMS22 - Classic & Owners Enclosure.pdf
