I’m one of those people that has zero interest in electric or hybrids. But I can see the appeal/benefits of one. If anything my future car purchase plans involve adding more petrol cars with at least 8 cylinders to my collection lol
Also financially there are zero benefits for me to make the switch as I don't have to commute to work. My cars are all for recreational use only.
If all petrol stations disappear i’ll be happy buying barrels of E85 online. The more people that go electric the more petrol left for me  lol

Not worth it, IMHO, they'd probably stand out more if they were painted.  Even on the red car that @Lordyboi posted they're barely noticeable, they're a similar colour to the tyre or the inside of the wheelarch, depending on what angle you're looking at them from.  And the inside of them gets covered in crap from the road so if you have a lighter coloured car that crap will be noticeable and you'll end up repeatedly cleaning them.

@Jay Bamrah Here's the photos of mine:

    REAR:

And lastly, looking along the side at ground level:

A lot of the 'dirt' you can see is just raindrops.  You can see from the photos looking inside that they're pretty effective at catching a lot of the stuff that gets thrown up off the road.

Yeah, no worries, will get some pics when I can - might be tomorrow.  I haven't forgotten about offering you a ride out in it at some point too, I didn't travel at all over Christmas and obviously we're in lockdown, but if you're still interested we can arrange something when lockdown eases.

Agree with @jw191, I have the OEM ones on mine too, they're discreet and effective.  No idea why they weren't fitted as standard.  You can get them direct from Toyota through eBay, or cheaper assuming these are genuine as it says on the listing:

I’ve had the OEM flaps fitted for over 3 years. I like them on my black car. Quite subtle.

I'm in Swindon.  I'll be heading past London just before Christmas so could make a detour then, if the timing works for you.  I don't know the exact date yet but I can drop you a DM once I've worked out details.
Mark gave me a discount on some parts but not the SC.  I spent a fair amount when mine was in having the SC fitted; they fitted my brakes & suspension (Black Friday purchases!), and sourced me a new manifold, catback, and some other suspension parts (LCA, ARB, and bushes) and fitted those.

Mine has a Harrop fitted by Abbey and I'll gladly recommend them and the Harrop kit.  Most of the turbo/SC kits are around 280-290 at the flywheel, which is ~250whp.  Mine is dead on 250whp with the Harrop.  The stock clutch and injectors work fine for that.  I'm running KW V3 coilovers and Reyland's brake upgrade with AP Racing callipers too, the brakes mostly because I get the stock ones too hot on track (even with uprated pads & fluid).  Happy to take you for a spin in it if you want to see how it feels, it's definitely got punch 😁

Not exactly, but close I guess - grey GT86 with gunmetal alloys (18") and a TRD-style lip.  Also slightly lowered.

And one in motion before it was lowered:

Just my opinion, the paint has a hint of blue in it and I don't think it works quite as well with black wheels - they would work better on a black car - but I appreciate that we all have different tastes.  Looks like you're not a million  miles from me, if you're near Swindon whilst you're still deciding then drop me a DM and I'll be happy to show you mine.

@will300 just read your review. I've done about twice the miles you have, though for some reason everyone and their dog seemed to be on the roads today. I'm going to wait a bit to do a review as I want to gather my thoughts more fully. I totally agree about the engine. It is impressive in that it feels a lot quicker than you expect it to be. So much so that when I overtook some duffer in second gear, I was surprised at the manner in which it gathered pace. I have not really been north of 5500rpm, but that engine loves to rev. I actually like the sound you get when inside the car, whether synthetic or otherwise. It has a very business like tone and you can hear the turbo venting to atmosphere when you attune to it.
When I pulled out of RRG the steering felt very light, but it weighted up nicely at speed. I agree it doesn't seem to have the feel of the GT86, though mine is razor sharp with the poly bushes on it. I feel it's very much good enough though.
I too found the seating position very high after getting out of the GT86, though I think that the GT is so low means it's a bit all relative. But like you I soon grew accustomed to it and then you don't notice it. The driving position is comfortable enough with the seats offering a similar level of support to the GT. I also found heel and toeing easy enough but you have to be on the brakes. I actually liked the brake feel, though this may be optimised more with a different pad. I have purposefully not been that hard on the brakes yet. My car has 73 miles on the clock!
I have tried the different modes and you can feel it if you switch between them. I have not yet pushed hard, but driving down a greasy and wet B-road with mud on it, the car dealt with the conditions with absolute aplomb. The damping I agree feels really good. Ride is good enough and it is more refined than the GT/BRZ.
Overall (maybe as I've bought one) I'd rate it higher than Will, but I probably got more opportunity to push it a bit harder on some twisty B-roads. I must say as soon as I dispatched the duffer I got into some S-Bends and wow the car quickly came alive. A glance at the speedo told me I was well north of the national speed limit. I think this car is very well sorted and the harder you work it, the better it gets. That's what I think it is going to be like. 1 minute of starting to really get it to flow down a deserted wet and sometimes muddy B road, made me think that not much would be able to keep up with it. It really does inspire confidence. I don't think the GT86 would have handled those kind of conditions with such aplomb. I know already I will have to push a fair bit harder to find its limits.
Trackday booked at Blyton for 31st January.

So the GR Yaris comes fourth in the Evo Car of the Year competition, at a basic price of £30k.  The winner, BMW M2CS basic is £75k.  The other two that scored above the Yaris were the Lambo Huracan at £164k and the McLaren 765LT at basic of £280k. Just on price alone would seem to make the Yaris fantastic value for money!

    Well done Toyota!

Car has landed in Portbury. Have spoken to finance, should be okay for click and collect on the 18th or thereabouts. Exciting stuff, though made a bit weird by the lockdown bobbins!
