New 86 from Glasgow and some mods ideas

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, this is Toni from Glasgow. I registered immediately after I collected my car but till now I got some time to say hi here.

My 86 is a black facelift one and I owned it for only 2 weeks. Have to say I have great fun when driving it. It’s amazing driving experience! I was planning to have a 86 several years ago when I came to UK. Even I had done the mods plan in my mind. Finally I bought a bugeye sti 😂 for family use, and thought my 86 project would be deferred indefinitely. However, after I saw the pics of the new generation, I decided to buy a current 86 ASAP! (During these years I was considering s2000, miata nb and 370z as well. That’s another long story)

The next step I want to do with my 86 is to keep it stock condition for 1 year. During this period I want to enhance my driving skills. I will go to the track, do drifts, heel & toes... to learn the limitation of the car which I cannot do on the roads.

Afterward I’ll get it boosted.  Below are some key mods I would like to do

Engine bay: Greddy t518z turbo kit. Target: 300 bhp ish on wheel

Clutch: OS Giken street master Single plate

Coilover: kw v3 sportclub

Brake: dixel slot discs and pads

Wheels: te37 golden rims

Exhaust: hks hi-power

Lsd: sard 1.5 way lsd

Here are just some simple ideas in my mind and my target is to build a balance car for both daily commute and sometimes track racing. So it must be easy going with. Probably will fit a wide body kit later, pretty like the Aimgain gt kit individually.

Would be appreciated for any suggestions and would love to discuss on it!

Looking forward to attending meet ups or any events (especially track day!) in the near future when everything gets back to normal!

Welcome aboard. You need to be careful with a turbo power wise. 300bhp at the wheels is pushing it a bit as the rods are a weak point. Most stay under that at the flywheel. The stock LSD is fine in all honesty. It's a good idea to leave it for a year and then see what you want to do. Good choice on wheels though. :)

Hi thanks Lauren.

My friends have some turbo upgrade mods they told me stock engine can take 300 definitely. Will double check with my garage anyway and do more research online.

LSD replacement depends on what I use 86 for which I still need to think about it.

Many thanks!
